Afsha Rana, 34, doctored spreadsheets and altered purchasing orders to get her hands on 334 devices during the four-year scam.
The shameless operations admin assistant was even seen on CCTV leaving City of Glasgow College with gadgets stuffed in a suitcase.
The city’s sheriff court heard she trousered £255,200 by flogging 176 items to Cash Converters and some to other retailers for “personal profit”.
Some blame must attach to whoever was overseeing purchasing. Surely they noticed?
But her lawyer John Kilcoyne said: “She squandered all the money and gave it to friends.
“She said there is a man in London she doesn’t want her family to know about.”
If they read the papers, they know about him now!
Rana, of Kelvinbridge, Glasgow, admitted embezzlement from March 2015 to April 2019.
The first offender, who was fired by the college, was remanded for sentencing next month.
Bet she doesn't see a day of jail time.

Two immediate thoughts:
She was an "admin assistant". Whoever she was assisting does not seem to have been doing much supervising.
And I love the term "first offender" for someone who nicked 334 items over a long period.(So offended 334 times?)
Now that doesn't sound like a traditional Scottish name, does it. Sounds more like some ghastly import.
First offender? First time she was caught, rather.
Poverty breeds crime, eh? In this case she stole £500k to make £250k. Crime breeds poverty more like.
"Bet she doesn't see a day of jail time."
Not exactly true. In Scottish law "remand" is the same as "remand in custody" in English law. So, indeed, she is currently locked up until her sentencing. What happens after that is another matter.

I have to complete a form in triplicate to get a replacement works laptop charger! How on earth was she able to rip the college off to this extent?

Spot on!

Well, they are doing something right north of the border then! Down south, she'd be free and wandering the streets...
