English As She Is Spoke...
I'm starting to think that the local rags are being staffed by people for whom English might just be a second language. See this howler from the Eastern Daily Press:

Bring back sub-editors. Even if a particular reporter who made this very very basic mistake was the low wattage work experience student or a product of one of Britain's failing universities, a half decent sub would have prevented such an error from going to print or pixel.
Lazy diction. That's how they say it so that's how they write it.

Only to be expected, we are repeatedly told in a few generations the British will in a minority in this country.
I was confused about the number of life boats in action but it seems one boat can have more than one crew on board. Maybe if the rescue lasts more than eight hours the relief crew emerge from their sleeping quarters.
