If it made a rumbling noise it probably wasn't a jet. I suspect that the photograph is of the actual plane and it is the description that is wrong.

To be strictly correct, a turbo-prop (such as fitted on the C130 Hercules shown in the story) IS a jet engine, with an output shaft to drive a conventional propeller, rather than the large fan to be found at the front of virtually all modern "so called" Jet Engines.

Still doesn't alter the fact that present day "Journalists" are a truly ignorant bunch...
