Bet you got it right!
Researchers at the University of Manchester and Friends of the Earth found one in three people from minority ethnic groups lived in areas most exposed to extreme heat, compared with just one in 12 white people.
Since they mostly hail from countries much hotter, why is this an issue?
Mike Childs, head of science, policy and research at Friends of the Earth, said: “Extreme heatwaves will be more frequent and severe as the planet warms. While the UK and Europe are suffering with 40C heat, parts of India and Pakistan faced temperatures of around 50C earlier this year.
“Our research … shows that the poorest people and people of colour are disproportionately impacted by extreme weather in England. This is true across the UK and internationally. The communities on the frontlines of the climate crisis also have the lowest carbon footprints – they have contributed the least but are being hardest hit by rising global temperatures.”
*rolls eyes* It is, of course, just the beginning of a pitch:
Awareness of the disproportionate impact of climate change must feed into policy, Childs said.
“Environmental justice must be at the centre of governments’ climate strategies,” he said.
Backed up with alarmist rhetoric, as they all are these days:
“Unless carbon emissions are cut drastically, we will face even more health-threatening heatwaves in the UK and large parts of the planet could become unliveable.
“Action is urgently needed to adapt frontline neighbourhoods to cope with extreme weather, with more green spaces and trees for shelter, home insulation to keep homes warm in winter and cool in summer, and air-conditioned community centres for people to get some respite from the heat.”
Anything else? A pony for every Tom, Dick and Harpinder, while you're at it?

I really don't care. These people are adapted to their native climate just as we white people are adapted to our northern climate. Unless India, China and Russia do something too the rest of us are wasting our time and money. Why was the median temperature during the Eocene period 23 deg C? It was far warmer 50 million years ago than it is today. Oh look. No humans and no industry back then. Just nature.
It's all part of 'Project Fear'. Keep the bad news coming, saturate the minds of the 'sheep' with negative thoughts: then WHAM another lockdown, or something similar. The 'sheep' will follow the instructions and even ostracise the 'non-sheep' for not complying.
I'm in an area of high risk climate change. I even closed the window and closed the drapes during those two days, keeping the shady side of the place open. It was difficult downing those cold drinks. The following day, the climate changed back again.
and because their bodies are able to handle that better than a pasty white guy like myself then that seems a good solution. Why is it seen as a problem?
Sadly the end result of this process, if it was true, is that my descendants would migrate to the Soviet State of Scotland.
@Lord T,
So you expect them to be resistant to midge bites, then ...
@Anon.... If the climate changed then midges should be driven out with the rest of the Scots when we move in. They would find it too hot and have to move to Scandinavia. Ironically for most returning to where their great great grandfathers came from.
Even the Sun is racist now....these people really have jumped the shark.
Jaded
Midgie bites, even those of the Great Hielan' Midgie are safer than the tropical mosquito.
I would have said mossie, but now, with warped language, that would be a hate thingie.
But what nobody says for some reason is that persons from a more tropical clime should take vitamin D. Regular and lots. But please consult a doctor, hah, good luck with that, for I am not certified to give medical advice.
Maybe those idiots should look to the past high temperatures - 1976 for example. Even the BBC would do well by looking at past weather forecasts to enable them to see their stupidity - the
https://climaterealism.com/2022/07/wrong-legacy-media-climate-change-is-not-causing-summer-heatwaves-in-the-u-s-and-europe/
gives an example comparison between 2012 and 2022.
So, let me get this straight …
‘Ethnics’ choose to live in cities that claim to be hotter than surrounding countryside a few hundred yards away (by ensuring the thermometers they use are sited on tarmac, between surrounding high-rises and right next to as many a/c outputs as possible) so … whitey bad, raciss, give us more money?
Is that right?
"I really don't care."
That's increasingly becoming my first thought too!
"The following day, the climate changed back again."
😂
"Maybe those idiots should look to the past high temperatures - 1976 for example. "
I remember it well!
