Wait, what..? Who on earth is going to choose the 70cl?
And no, it's not an April Fool!

My local Sainsbury's has 1 litre bottles of Gordon's gin for £17. The same price as the 70cl bottles. Perhaps It's a store loss leader to attract more shoppers, a bit like the 25% off six or more bottles of wine. Penseivat
It's an everyday game in supermarkets: they all do it. Their labelling is generally correct but they rely on customers not reading them properly. Hint: we do!
Plenty of people would. I've watched shoppers pore over different package sizes and prices, pick the cheapest one, yet seem utterly astonished when I point out the "Price per Kilo" figure that (virtually) all shops now include on the shelf labelling. I'll admit my maths is not particularly good, but I can manage well enough - when faced with "Multipacks" versus individuals - to see which is the better buy, and it's not always the multipack!
It's no different to motorists who haven't a clue what the fuel consumption (mpg) of their car is, and simply work on the basis of "I just put in £xx every week", so it can't be too bad...
I know nothing about brandy bur are they different products? They are described as brandy and rare brandy. Is that similar to, say, a three year old malt and a ten year old malt in the whisky world? That would account for the price differential.
Well actually, I just might. It suggests quality, which leads to the next question in these days of false champagnes etc. … just how are we to know it is the good oil? But the more expensive one certainly attracts … initially … not knowing the label at all.
Check the labels carefully and if it is the exact same product in a bigger size and you actually like the product and use it then it makes no sense unless you can't afford the extra 50p.
They do this often at Tesco with the Jack Daniels. they heavily discount the litre bottle for a week or so and it makes it temporarily cheaper than the 70cl

The Litre bottle is on offer, the smaller one isn't. They are the dame Brandy Frank.

I have half a bottle left from Christmas. Decent for the price but not a "quality" product.

"Perhaps It's a store loss leader to attract more shoppers..."
I suspect so. They are rare, and fleeting, so I buy when I see them!
"I guarantee someone will buy the 70cl"
Oh, I'm sure plenty have!
"I'll admit my maths is not particularly good, but I can manage well enough..."
Mine's appalling, but some things are just impossible to ignore, and yet, people still do!
"I know nothing about brandy bur are they different products? "
Nope, identical! It's not good brandy, frankly, but my mum loves it, so it was a present. I much prefer Remy Martin myself.
"Decent for the price but not a "quality" product."
Yup, good for cocktails as a mixer though.
