Scotland Yard has stopped a Ukip march from going ahead in east London over fears of provoking the local Muslim community. 

The demonstration, titled "Walk With Jesus", was scheduled for January 31 in Whitechapel - long home to one of Britain's largest Islamic populations. Metropolitan Police officials said permitting the event in that location would be "reckless" given the potential for violence.

From the demonstrators? No, Reader, of course not!  

Social media advertisements promoted the gathering as a "Christian march", inviting participants to worship Jesus Christ during January, which organisers described as "the month dedicated to the holy name of Jesus". Authorities confirmed the march could take place elsewhere - but not in Whitechapel.

But aren't we always being told by the progressives that Muslims have no issue with Jesus, considering him a prophet in their holy book? Surely they haven't been lying to us, have they?  

After all, they can declare 'no go zones' when it suits them to do so and for the most spurious of reasons:

Those Aren't The Only Thorny Issues Ducked, Though, Are They?

As ministers know, animal welfare is popular with the public. Trickier issues such as the damage to wildlife caused by dogs and cats, carbon emissions from intensive livestock farming and the need to reduce overall meat consumption are ducked in a strategy that focuses on the recognition of animals as sentient beings.

Not the only things being ducked. As bloggers have been quick to point out. 

But ministers are right to highlight the issues. Animals should be treated with compassion, not cruelty. In a world that is changing rapidly for them as well as for humans, the law needs to keep up.

It did in Denmark. So why not here?  

Anyone Other Than Ukraine Would Draw Condemnation For This

A computer game-style drone attack system has gone “viral” among Ukrainian military units and is being extended to reconnaissance, artillery and logistics operations, the nation’s first deputy prime minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, has told the Guardian. Drone teams competing for points under the “Army of Drones Bonus System” killed or wounded 18,000 Russian soldiers in September, with 400 drone units now taking part in the competition, up from 95 in August, Ukrainian officials said. The system, which launched more than a year ago, rewards soldiers who achieve strikes with points that can be exchanged to buy more weapons in an “Amazon-for-war” online store called Brave1 filled with more than 100 different drones, autonomous vehicles and other drone war material. It has a leaderboard topped by teams with names such as Achilles and Phoenix.

Can anyone imagine the screams of outrage from every columnist in the Guardian if this system existed in any war involving UK or US forces? Or the Israeli Defence Force? 

Yet strangely, there's not a hint of concern on moral grounds about this, in the article.

Oh, my mistake, there is one after all - not on morality issues though, purely on future success grounds.

But the extension of the points-based system comes amid warnings that increasing reliance on drone warfare is not something Nato countries should follow because Russian defences against such unmanned aerial attacks have become formidable.

The True Face Of An Eco-Tycoon...

An eco-tycoon and his wife who were filmed destroying a community flowerbed amid a bitter row with his green-fingered neighbours over plans to build a gym at his home has finally settled the case and left the country.

Oh dear, how sad. But what sort of 'eco-tycoon' destroys nature?  

Oh, silly me, the ones that build the bird-choppers do. I suppose, Maybe this isn't as bizarre a story as I first thought when the headline caught my eye...

Michael Hodgson, 55, of Gwaenysgor, near Prestatyn, North Wales, was charged with criminal damage listed at a value of £178 over the incident in the village of around 230 residents in August last year. He and his wife Shirin Pootschi, 57, were caught on camera in a furious rage pulling up a bed of wildflowers outside his house just 24 hours after they were planted.

Insane! 

At the time locals said it was the culmination of a 10-year planning row between Hodgson and his neighbours, ongoing since he first moved to the village 11 years ago. Hodgson had put in three separate planning applications to build a home gym and office adjoined to his £500,000 home - but each time it faced fierce opposition from neighbours.

And he lost the argument: 

Hodgson has since donated an unspecified amount of money to a local church as part of an out of court community settlement order. Prosecutor Mrs Jackson told the court Hodgson has since moved out of the UK, although still maintains a property in the village. It is unclear where he and his wife are now living.

Beware if you've recently acquired neighbours! 

Defence lawyer Selina Woodward said: 'The community resolution was to pay a sum of money to the local church. That was paid.' She added: 'This gentleman and his wife have been through an absolute nightmare.'

 No, they caused one, they aren't the victims here, though I'm sure that's what they are paying you to say.

The lawyer said a PC in the case had stopped responding and she sought an adjournment. District judge Gwyn Jones adjourned the case until next month for North Wales police to liaise with Hodgson about the outstanding aspects of the community resolution.

Meaning they skipped town before fully complying? What lovely people...

Jean-Paul Jeanrenaud, a former director of WWF who worked for the charity for 27 years, said: “The WWF name, certainly from my experience, had a lot of leverage. If I approached people, they wanted to hear what I had to say … WWF has an influence, and it still has an influence.

“I think the public will be even more than surprised, perhaps shocked. I know that it’s the sort of thing that I have difficulty getting my head around.”

What is 'the sort of thing' he's talking about?  

The wildlife charity WWF has been working to support the trade in polar bear fur at the same time as using images of the bears to raise money, it can be revealed.

Despite their endangered status, polar bears are hunted commercially in Canada, the only country that still allows the practice after it was banned by Russia, Greenland, the US and Norway. An annual average of 300–400 skins are exported, primarily to China, where a full pelt sells for an average of $60,000 (£48,000) and is often used for luxury clothing or as a rug.

And despite all their campaigns, WWF is just fine with this. Because what they decry in public, they support in private. And for good reasons:  

A two-year investigation has found that WWF has helped facilitate the international commercial trade in polar bear furs as part of its support for the policy of sustainable utilisation. The idea is that by licensing the exploitation of a small number of animals for economic purposes – such as for fur or trophy-hunting – the status of the species overall will be improved.

WWF has also claimed a ban on the international commercial trade would damage the livelihoods of Indigenous communities. 

Never mind the animals, respect the savages!  

WWF has made clear statements about its position regarding trophy-hunting and the trade in elephant ivory. It has said it is “not opposed to hunting programmes that present no threat to the survival of threatened species and, where such species are involved, are part of a demonstrated conservation and management strategy that is scientifically based, properly managed, and strictly enforced, with revenues and benefits going back into conservation and local communities”.

WWF said in a 2013 statement: “If, at some stage in the future, polar bear populations become so diminished by climate change and habitat loss, and/or if international trade presents a greater threat, we would want to revisit the Cites listing issue. But we’re not at that point.”

The Archer Project - a homelessness charity - is upset one of their livestock is no more:

Keeley was mostly known as 'Sheffield Keeley' on TikTok and was sought out by people to video her singing popular songs.

But despite bringing 'joy' and going viral, homelessness organisation The Archer Project claims Keeley was 'exploited for likes'.

In a blog post published on Wednesday, January 15, a spokesman said: 'Just for likes, that's what it comes down to. They exploited her just for likes.

'When we say exploited, that's what we mean. It wasn't a casual filming of someone you come across, which many think is bad enough.

'No, she was sought out, she told us she was given money to be on social media, to swim in fountains in the middle of winter or dance in an inebriated state like a performing clown or whatever.

'She was effectively being fed booze to perform because that was her addiction.

'Dance and we'll give you more of what you crave, what you can't do without, what your body craves and needs. Dance and we'll reward you with the funds to buy more.

'Some will say they didn't know. Come on, let's be real, it was hard to not know.

'Her alcoholism was the attraction, her fuelled with drink and what she would do when drunk, that was the sought after video.

'She didn't have the ability to care for herself in any way. She was physically at risk, emotionally at sea and unable to assess safety from danger.

So what did your charity do to save her from this? 

'The truth is she was a person, a daughter, a niece. She was a human being not an entertainment.'

She wasn't a reason for your continued employment either.

Under Keir Starmer, there is a moral compass in Downing Street once more. But something else has gone missing. Too often, Labour now seems to lack not a moral compass, but a fully functioning political one. It has never needed one more than it does today.

And why is that, pray tell?

The most recent evidence that Labour’s political compass has been lost is in the unnecessary and overwrought row about its role in the US election. Here, once again, Labour has allowed its actions to be defined by its critics. As such, it fits a pattern: the failure to spot the danger in the freebies-for-ministers revelations; the tangled rise and fall of Sue Gray; the peremptory cull of winter fuel payments. With a good political compass, all of these could have been avoided.

Resource Africa, an influential organisation representing the thousands in rural Zimbabwe and other southern African countries facing the 'elephant problem', said a recent UK poll backing the import bill was prompted by British ignorance and populist virtue signalling.

Hard to disagree, isn't it?

'It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.'

No word on what, if anything, is being done to trace the women cheering him on, including the one in the Amnesty International tabard. Or the one who turned out to be yet another Left wing rabble rouser.

Either way, it's hard to see that the welfare of the animals is uppermost, isn't it?

A Norfolk MP who has been a prominent campaigner for better rural mobile phone coverage is objecting to plans for a new telecoms mast in his constituency.

Duncan Baker, the North Norfolk MP, is supporting locals who are opposed to proposals for a 30m high lattice tower on Thwaite Common, Erpingham.

Oh. Errr, why? 

...he believes the Erpingham scheme should be scrapped, arguing the mast should not be “slap bang” in the middle of the countryside. 

Where else are they supposed to put it then? 

He said: “The parish council and community want better communications, but we cannot erect this mast in such an insensitive and beautiful area in a conservation zone.

“Thwaite Common is clearly an important wildlife area and this mast is wholly unsuitable for this location.”

Hey, here's an idea, maybe the telecommunications people actually know where it's best to site the equipment? Just a thought...

People should have ‘the courage’ to tell off motorists who leave their engines running outside schools, Chris Whitty, the Chief Medical Officer said yesterday.

Mr Whitty said: ‘I think we should make really clear to people the downsides of doing this that they are actually causing significant problems, potentially to vulnerable people and I think almost every parent would consider someone who is idling a car outside their child’s school to be an incredibly antisocial person to have around.

In his annual report on the nation’s health, Professor Whitty said he has targeted air pollution as it is as significant a health risk as the Covid-19 virus.

Speed cameras clocked the PCC's speed as high as 40mph in a 30mph zone, with other excess speeds recorded at 35mph and 38mph. Henry was caught in 30mph zones at four locations in Nottingham in March, May and June last year.

It says a lot for the power of Mercedes and Lexus engines that they could reach those speeds with her in the driving seat...

The judge dismissed Henry's application to keep her driving licence due to 'exceptional hardship'.

The Kent MP (Ed: surely a typo..?) surely should have more sympathy with hunters putting in the effort to bag that elusive trophy beast, the long hours of patient stalking, waiting for the target to present just the right shot, the crushing of hopes as once again, it slips away silently into the bush, flicking its tail in contempt?

Have a heart, Roger! You clearly relish the thrill of the stalk too! You just haven't got anything to show for it yet...
