Whereas You Exploited Her For Employment Opportunities...

The Archer Project - a homelessness charity - is upset one of their livestock is no more:
Keeley was mostly known as 'Sheffield Keeley' on TikTok and was sought out by people to video her singing popular songs.
But despite bringing 'joy' and going viral, homelessness organisation The Archer Project claims Keeley was 'exploited for likes'.
In a blog post published on Wednesday, January 15, a spokesman said: 'Just for likes, that's what it comes down to. They exploited her just for likes.
'When we say exploited, that's what we mean. It wasn't a casual filming of someone you come across, which many think is bad enough.
'No, she was sought out, she told us she was given money to be on social media, to swim in fountains in the middle of winter or dance in an inebriated state like a performing clown or whatever.
'She was effectively being fed booze to perform because that was her addiction.
'Dance and we'll give you more of what you crave, what you can't do without, what your body craves and needs. Dance and we'll reward you with the funds to buy more.
'Some will say they didn't know. Come on, let's be real, it was hard to not know.
'Her alcoholism was the attraction, her fuelled with drink and what she would do when drunk, that was the sought after video.
'She didn't have the ability to care for herself in any way. She was physically at risk, emotionally at sea and unable to assess safety from danger.

So what did your charity do to save her from this?

'The truth is she was a person, a daughter, a niece. She was a human being not an entertainment.'

She wasn't a reason for your continued employment either.

Don't The Police Have Better Things To Do With Their Time?

Sadly, these days, the answer's 'Probably not'!
The boss of the missing persons charity supporting Jay Slater's family has vowed to wage war on cruel trolls who sent him misleading and untrue tip-offs about the youngster before he was found dead on Tenerife earlier this week.
Matthew Searle, chief executive of LBT Global, says he received hundreds of malicious emails, phone calls and messages with false information about the 19-year-old apprentice bricklayer after he disappeared on June 17.
He has passed messages sent to him and Jay's mother, Debbie Duncan, to police to investigate under telecommunications laws.

And just how are they supposed to prove they are knowingly false reports? Since Britain is stuffed to the gills with young petty criminal chavs who all dress alike?

The malignant messages included false ransom demands from people claiming to have Jay in their custody.

That one at least should be easy to prove! Even for UK police.

Others included claims that Jay had been seen in a Sainsbury's in Basingstoke, watching a football match in Germany and on a Eurostar train. Mr Searle said the bad actors had delayed genuine investigations into Jay's disappearance because he had to 'follow up every single lead'.

Since he's not the police, but a private citizen sticking his oar in, it's be hard to prove that the actual search was hindered in any way...

It is an offence under the Communications Act 2003 to send a false message that causes 'annoyance, inconvenience or anxiety to another'. Those found guilty of the offence can face up to six months in prison.
Many of those sending the cruel false tips did so using 'burner' SIM cards and single-use email addresses, making it harder for him to identify those who might be responsible.

So what are the police supposed to do?

Mr Searle is, it seems, no lover of freedom of speech:

Mr Searle, speaking to Sky News earlier this week, says he intends to speak to Home Secretary Yvette Cooper about the damage and hurt caused by online trolls who turned Jay's tragic disappearance into a true-crime free-for-all.
'Ultimately it hinders the search and it's terrifyingly horrible for a family that are going through this,' he said.
'Wherever there's a real-life crime drama acting out in front of our eyes on television, half the population need to jump on Facebook, set up a Facebook group… to tell the world "what really happened".
'It's really worrying to the point where our charity thinks it's time that it has to stop.'

Good luck with that, Mr Searle, I very much doubt even Labour are so bonkers they are going to go to war on Facebook on behalf of this 'cause'. Although one can never tell.

You Don't Need To Go To Africa To Get Threatened With Machetes...

...you've got a good chance of it happening at home, so why not stay here?
So far his efforts have raised £568,000 for charity, with a massive £217,000 of that having been donated over the last seven days as his loyal following spur him on to the finish line.

Which charity?

He is fundraising for The Running Charity, which supports the mental health of young people with complex needs or who are homeless, and Sandblast which educates people about Sahrawi culture.

Well, good luck to him.

Well, Not Quite, Polly...

Polly Neate, the chief executive of Shelter, said: “This is a harrowing reminder of the abusive and brutal treatment people are often faced with when sleeping on the streets.
“Sleeping rough is deeply unsafe with people under the constant threat of harassment and violence. Nobody chooses to spend their night shivering in a sleeping bag. But record high rents and the government’s failure to build enough social homes mean more people are becoming homeless and growing numbers of them are ending up on the street.”

This is in response to video of a police officer - a female, remember how they were hired to provide a softer, gentler aspect to policing? - dragging a rough sleeper in a sleeping bag when they refused to move.

So, what do we have here? Someone who can no longer afford rent due to 'vicious austerity Tory'? An Army or Navy serviceman with PTSD who has lost their home due to 'Tory austerity' and failure to provide support once their career is over?

The homeless man, who is a refugee from Sudan, has been in the UK for three and a half years and has been given the right to remain.

Oh. Yes, Polly, clearly the government's at fault for not providing social housing for the waifs and strays of the Third World.

Clarkson's Law Is Looking A Better Option Every Day...

The owners of an American bulldog who attacked a 17-year-old girl after going berserk at children in a park have been accused of making another dog behave aggressively by chaining it up in the garden for months.
Their dog - weighing eight stone and called George - had to be put down after terrifying locals in the picturesque village of in Thorpe Willoughby, near Selby, North Yorkshire, in May. The teenage girl was bitten in the arms by George, while trying to restrain him from attacking children at a kids' playground.
I don't subscribe to the view 'it's the owners, not the dog' but in most of these cases, it's clear they don't help...

And nor do rehoming charities:
She lost control of the pet while taking him for a stroll just a day after George was rehomed by the previous owners.

Why would anyone expect a 17 year old girl to be able to restrain a thing that has often overpowered grown men?

Villagers have been left heartbroken by the dog 'crying through the night' after allegedly being kept chained up in its owner's garden for the last five months. They say they have bombarded the authorities, including the RSPCA, with complaints about the alleged cruelty but nothing has been done.
'It really surprises me with the amount of people complaining about it that the RSPCA is not doing anything.'

It won't surprise anyone familiar with the way the RSPCA operates

If You Didn't Already Suspect This...

...well, you know what they say about a fool and their money, don't you?
Foodbank charity The Trussell Trust has been accused of misleading donors after it emerged more than 90 per cent of the money it distributes goes on non-food items – including diversity courses, debt counsellors and advisers who help people claim state benefits.
And it's even worse than that, because the donations are probably better spent there than on tins of baked beans anyway!
...it was facing a backlash last night after it emerged the charity spent £18.6 million of donations on ‘financial inclusion’, employing professional benefits advisers and debt counsellors.
What's that old adage again about giving a man a fish vs teaching him how to?

And if you insist on providing food instead, then, Reader, every supermarket these days has a donation bin for your gifting convenience. Use them instead.

Not As Ridiculous As Calling Him ‘She’…

'Isn't it ridiculous,' asks a caption beside Steph Richards's photo on the charity's handouts, 'that I've got to my 40s before any medical professionals even mentioned endometriosis?'
At this point, I should point out that Steph isn't actually in her 40s: she's 71. And if no one discussed endometriosis with her when she was younger, the most likely explanation is that she's a trans woman and doesn't have a womb.

Then why are you going along with this utter nonsense and calling him 'she' and 'her'?

Because we're talking about medical conditions that can be life-changing, sometimes with fatal consequences, I think it's important to use clear language. Steph Richards is not biologically female. However, I'm going to use her preferred pronouns and refer to her as she, since I fervently believe everyone has a right to live any way they choose - provided that it's not at the expense of other vulnerable groups.

If we continue this fiction out of politeness, we deserve all we get. We'll just get more fiction. We can argue, as Tim does, that we don't require a head of a charity to be the thing that the charity campaigns for, but that's rather missing the point.

Why would this man be hired? Because he's a great fundraiser? Maybe. But if not, then he's a token, a sticker that says 'Look, we support trans rights!'. And anyone with any self respect wouldn't want to be in that position, surely?

But It's For Gaia!

So why wouldn't you risk your child's health? Ah, if only there had been some warning it was a big scam...

Oh, wait!

The bamboo “eco-cups” are promoted as helping to protect the planet, but are usually non-recyclable.

See, anyone with their head screwed on would smell a rat at this, surely?

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) said it had advised retailers to withdraw products in June and any further sales would be unlawful. Despite the ban, the bamboo and plastic products are still widely available online, including children’s cups and plates.

What sort of rapacious capitalist businesses would rather harm the kiddiewinks than forgo that filthy lucre, then?

WWF-UK, the wildlife charity, was last week selling a reusable bamboo cup for £7.50, which it says “helps protect our planet”.
Ooops!

Should They Be Renamed?

Because it seems they can't be trusted:
A staff member at an animal rehoming centre was taken to hospital following an incident with a dog.

Yes, yet another XL Bully, allegedly...

The incident in Nevendon Road, Wickford, saw a canine carer at Dogs Trust Rehoming centre suffer several injuries at around 4.41pm on October 5. The carer was attacked by a dog named Klay who was allegedly an XL Bully put down after the incident. Klay was put down following discussions between Dogs Trust leadership and the staff member was discharged after recovering from the attack.

Why did they need to discuss anything?

A spokesman for Dogs Trust said: The safety and welfare of staff, volunteers, and all members of the public who come into contact with the charity is of the utmost concern. Dogs Trust is conducting a full investigation of the circumstances leading up to and surrounding this incident and we are in contact with the Canine Carer who we offer our best wishes and support.’

But in the comments, a slightly different - and worrying - take on the Dogs Trust and their regards to safety:

'Adopt don't shop' is a noble thing, no doubt, but can you be sure that you aren't getting a potential killer?

So Do I, Louise, So Do I....

Louise Hart believes education is key. 'Every year, 35,000 dogs under the age of three are put to sleep for behavioural issues,' she says. 'At Dogs Trust we want to improve that figure.'

Me too. But I want to see it go UP! So many dangerous unsocialised mutts in the hands of careless or actively unsocial owners.

These idiots, however, are firmly in the 'Awww, poor doggy!' crowd, of course...

'When a dog bites, it really is the last resort for them and a lot of our resources for people of all ages are about reading body language. Learning, for example, when dogs are showing fear, like having their ears back or their tail between their legs, and knowing there is potential danger around that.'

Yes, because when your child is savaged by some chav's pitbull-substitute, it's your fault - or theirs - for not reading the signs.

Those sentiments are echoed by Debby Lucken, who has also founded Kids Around Dogs, an association of dog and childcare professionals set up to educate children in how to be more 'dog-savvy'.
'I feel that the owners themselves are not learning enough about dogs,' she says. 'Dogs speak to us all the time, but we need to learn their language in order to understand what makes them upset and, ultimately, scared.
'Almost all dog-related incidents are due to dogs being pushed to their limits.'

Really..? What pushed this one, overwork? The fact so many bad guys he'd caught escaped justice?

There's Never Any Evidence If You Make Sure You Don't Collect It...

...or if you ignore what is collected and pretend that it isn't.
A spokesperson for the Dogs Trust said research had shown that "no breed of dog is more likely to be aggressive than another".

Oh, really?

"There is no evidence the reported increase in dog attacks is down to one particular breed of dog as, even in fatal cases, the breed of dog does not need to be recorded," they added.

But it is recorded, isn't it? Maybe not by everyone, no, but in this very article the people dealing with the aftermath are only too aware of which breed is doing the damage:

Assistant Chief Constable Dan Thorpe, of South Yorkshire Police, said each year the force had seen "significant increases in dangerous dog-related incidents".
"In 2018, we saw 77 of these incidents, and have already seen 180 in the first six months of this year," he added. ACC Thorpe said the American XL Bully breed had accounted for 25% of all the dogs seized by the force since January last year.
"We can't ignore the fact that the XL Bully breed is disproportionately represented in the number of dog attacks we attend," he said.

It seems those with a vested interest in perpetuating the myth that a chihuahua is just as likely to attack as a pitbull can ignore it just fine......

"But It's Worked So Well In Comprehensive Education!"

The number of guide dog owners in the UK has declined from more than 5,000 in 2017 to 3,695 in 2022, despite demand remaining stable, according to an open letter written to the heads of Guide Dogs UK.

And he presumably knows his onions Labradors...

Alan Brooks, who has won two major awards for his work with guide dogs over 50 years, including setting up training programmes in Europe and leadership roles at Guide Dogs UK.

So, where is it all going wrong suddenly?

“The new programme isn’t working. Basically, the system is a non-punishment system, so you’re not even allowed to say no to a dog in a firm voice if it does something wrong – as a result dogs aren’t getting through the training programme and the population of guide dog owners has dropped by 25%,” he said, adding that he believes a rewards-based system works only for certain personalities of dog.

Ah. The 'no punishment or consequences for bad behaviours' that's turned our schools into the models of good behaviour they are?

He said that many knowledgable training staff and puppy-walking volunteers he had spoken to thought Step was “ineffective and their efforts are wasted”, leading them to become “demotivated and demoralised”.

And the charity relies on them. So what does it have to say for itself?

Noting that there are differing views on training dogs, Guide Dogs UK defended its methods as “based on the highest level of dog welfare and prioritise the wellbeing and safety of the guide dog and its owner”.

Typical of any modern organisation; dig in, double down, never admit you could have got it wrong...

“We are proud to use ethical, evidence-based practices which maintain the highest level of dog welfare. We make no apologies for eliminating physical punishment or techniques which are proven to cause fear and stress to dogs. Our firm and unwavering view is that society has progressed and that we must move with the times.”

Ah, yes, 'progress'. The watchword of the moment. And yet...didn't this chap have something to say about words?

For Fox Sake...

...never give the bloated, politically-correct, incompetent RSPCA any money. Ever!

If their begging letters come through the post, put them straight in the bin.

If their adverts come on the TV, now's the time to compose tomorrow's shopping list.

If one of their paid shills approaches you in the street, do what I did once in Southend high street, and tell them in depth and exactly why you won't be giving them any money.

And if granny's thinking about leaving them some money in her will, suggest she donates to ISIS instead. If you're going to hand money over to bloodthirsty nihilistic killers, might as well go with people who don't pretend to be anything else...

It's Become A Political Organisation, So Why Is This A Surprise?

Oxfam, which campaigns to end poverty and improve women’s rights, told The Mail on Sunday last night it had cleared the game from its shelves after transgender staff complained it was ‘offensive’.
It added: ‘We took the decision to remove the game from sale following concerns raised by trans and non-binary colleagues who told us it didn’t live up to our commitment to respect people of all genders.’

*sighs*

Women criticised the decision, including Labour MP Rosie Duffield MP, who decided not to attend her party conference last month after receiving threats from trans activists for insisting that ‘only women have a cervix’.
‘I am disappointed Oxfam considers taking a political view of gender identity politics more important than raising as much money as possible for those most in need,’ she said.
‘The track record of some charities with regards to women’s rights has been far from good, and discriminating against some women due to their beliefs will do nothing to repair that.’

'Their beliefs' being in basic human biology.

Ms Bindel also suspects Oxfam feared a backlash because Canadian actor Elliot Page, who now identifies as a ‘transgender guy’, is pictured in the game as Ellen Page, having been born a girl.

And remaining a girl, no matter what surgery is carried out, or what laws are passed to provide bits of paper claiming otherwise.

Only In The 'Guardian' Could This Be Judged A Bad Thing...

So are council snatch squads going street to street sweeping up all foreign rough sleepers? Reader, they are not:

New government guidance published in April 2021 states that migrant rough sleepers could have their permission to remain in the UK refused or cancelled if they have “repeatedly refused suitable offers of support and engaged in persistent antisocial behaviour”.

Who could possibly object to this? Well, of course, it's the usual suspects...

Following the introduction of the new Home Office guidance in April of this year lawyers, charities and trades unions have raised the alarm that migrant rough sleepers might once again be rounded up and removed from the UK.

The lawyers, trades unions and charities are clearly concerned that they may lose some of their flock; got to keep that aid and grant money rolling in, after all!

A report launched on Thursday by Public Interest Law Centre – Still Here: Defending the Rights of Homeless EU Citizens after Brexit and Covid-19 – has identified some groups of EU citizens who will be particularly vulnerable to removal now that the deadline for EUSS applications has passed.

Good of them to give the Home Office some pointers!

Those at risk include working-class people from eastern and central Europe, people of colour and victims of domestic violence. The report calls for a culture change and a rights-based approach to protect these groups.

What about a rights-based approach to the UK citizens with a right to live here, and who don't hang around in shop doorways begging, for a change?

The Charity, The Police Commissioner And The Local People...

The charity:
Proposals to create a transit site for travellers in Bearwood have been supported by a Dorset charity dedicated to raising awareness of the Gypsy, Traveller, Romany and Roma communities.
Kushti Bok chair Betty Smith-Billington said the plans for land off Magna Road would be a positive step given there are no existing sites across the BCP Council area.
The commissioner:
An urgent review has been carried out into the Hampshire police’s response to horse and trap racing on the A33 near Micheldever.
Hampshire’s new Police and Crime Commissioner Donna Jones has sought assurances from the force’s chief constable that plans are in place to prevent further disruption.
The people:
A village that is often subject to illegal traveller encampments is stepping up its prevention methods.
Colden Common Parish Council is seeking quotations for ground works at the Recreation Ground, Main Road. This will make it difficult for vehicles to enter the premises.

It's noticable, isn't it, that only one of these groups is actually doing something effective about the problem?

Tear Down This (Stone)Wall..

Ms Truss, the Equalities Minister, has told friends that she thinks Whitehall should pull out of the charity’s Diversity Champions scheme, under which employers pay Stonewall for advice on how to implement equality laws and policies. She voiced her opinion after Nancy Kelley, Stonewall’s chief executive, recently likened ‘gender critical’ beliefs to antisemitism.

And it's not just politicians who have sensed which way the winds of change are blowing:

A former hospital boss has accused the NHS of putting patients at risk by signing up to Stonewall’s controversial Diversity Champions scheme.
Ms Grimes accused Stonewall of ‘undermining’ the NHS’s ability to keep patients safe, ‘stifling’ free speech and creating a ‘culture of fear’ among some NHS staff. And she warned some advice risked ‘opening up NHS organisations to litigation and reputational damage’.

And not just the NHS either:

Embattled diversity charity Stonewall is making hundreds of thousands of pounds by enrolling schools on to a programme of transgender guidance that critics have branded ‘dangerous’.
Legal experts and campaigners last night criticised the material. Naomi Cunningham, a barrister specialising in discrimination law, said: ‘The advice being given to schools by Stonewall is dangerous and unlawful. There is legislation that requires schools to provide separate toilets for girls and boys. So if a school allows a boy who identifies as female to use the girls’ toilets, it is in breach of the law.’

This organisation has long since outstayed its welcome and, as all organisations do when they get too big and the money's too good to give up at the top, sought to expand into ever more ridiculous 'causes'.

Enough's enough.

The Answer's Simple - Stop Volunteering...

The National Trust has ordered all of its volunteers to undergo diversity training as the organisation continues its 'woke' rebrand.
The heritage body is forcing everyone, including rangers who do not work with the public, to carry out the training as they return to work from lockdown.
It has already caused friction among volunteers and led to several resignations, with one slamming the Trust's new political 'agenda'.

Well, stop volunteering for them then! If they can't run their business without you, and have to start hiring staff instead, they'll soon change their tune. Because it'll eat into the money pot for people like the DG:

Hilary McGrady, the trust's director general, insisted she was not woke, but accepted the timing of the report's publication was 'not brilliant in the middle of trying to deal with Covid and everything else'.

Who authorised it then, Hilary? Was it you?

Harping On And On And On...

Southend's homeless charity is spearheading a new campaign pressing for an end to people sleeping rough on the streets.

It can only be...yes, you guessed it!

Harp has launched It’s Time, an initiative aimed at halting the number of people living on Southend’s streets.

How?

Jackie Bliss, Harp’s chief executive, is eager to win Government backing for the charity’s efforts.
The charity is inviting people in the constituencies of Southend West and Rochford and Southend East to sign a letter to Sir David Amess and James Duddridge, asking the MPs to use their influence at national level to make a real, lasting impact on homelessness.

OK, how, exactly? There's nothing in here to say just exactly what 'the government' is supposed to do...

She added: “A return to pre-Covid levels of homelessness is unthinkable.”

Well, you surely don't expect them to be housed in hotels at taxpayer expense forever. Do you?

Isn't There A Word Missing In This Headline?

Like the word 'legally'...?

The hunter, who prompted a worldwide outpouring of fury when he targeted Cecil five years ago, was identified as one of two men in a photo with the dead Altai argali – the largest wild sheep in the world.
According to WWF, the argali is legally protected by Mongolian law, and hunting it is banned.
Strange. There's plenty of sites that say that's not actually true. Gosh, surely the WWF wouldn't be lying through their teeth, would they?

Shouldn't the Charity Commission have something to say about that?
