On Monday, I caught one of those ribbon-rippers in the act. Or should I say ribbon-snippers, because the young woman in front of me was mechanically cutting down the ribbons with a pair of dressmaking scissors. She had clearly come well-prepared that morning. Snip, snip, snip, she went, then stuffed the dangling pieces into her bag. It later transpired that this woman was called Nadia Yahlom, a 'Palestinian-Jewish artist' – I'm not sure what that means – who lives in the local area.

It means, as is so often in these cases, the British taxpayer, me, is unwittingkly bankrolling this antisemitic filth and her equally disgusting husband through our taxes.

And as usual, when caught acting as their vile religion demands, the excuse is immediate; 'the Jews are behind it!' 

The husband of a North London woman who cut off yellow ribbons for Jewish hostages held captive in Gaza says he and his wife have been attacked by a group of people 'working for Mossad'.

Followed by the other usual tactic; claim victimhood. 

Meanwhile, a woman who said she was Ms Yahlom's mother told The Times that her daughter had been 'pounded by death threats' since the incident, including at her daughter's school and at university.

Well, there's one way to avoid death threats, and that's 'don't be the sort of evil, brainwashed anntisemitic bitch that destroys others' messages of hope', or if you must be that, be it in a Third World shithole, not Britain.

Well, some of them, anyway.

A judge has asked for more information about a women's claims she had three heart attacks and cared for a blind husband - saying he does not believe 'a word' she says.

Unfortunatly, the story is behind a paywall, but we know the name's 'Horvathova' which is a Romani name, so the judge's unexpected scepticism is perhaps well founded. 

It could be this story, which despite being in the same paper, isn't behind a paywall:

Regina Horvathova, 48, was brought before Bolton Crown Court after spending money with a bank card that did not belong to her and handling stolen goods including a Mercedes.

But she could not be sentenced for her crimes because her failure to work with probation meant there was no report on her ready for the court.

Judge Eliot Knopf said: “I see what’s been said and I give her one last chance to comply with the process and if she doesn’t she will face the consequences for that.”

The 'consequences' being what?  

Pardon Me..?

I suppose they technically are 'firearms'. 

But I wouldn't want to trust my life to one in a self-defence situation with anyone armed with anything stronger than a rolled-up newspaper.

There's Another Simple Answer, Isn't There?

A father-of-four, jailed over fraud and drugs, cannot be deported back to Jamaica because it would leave no one to look after his 'gangster' children.

Swaye Binns, 45, will remain in the UK after an immigration tribunal was told three of his children were 'in and out prison', according to The Sun.

Appeal judge, Therese Kamra said the three had 'strong gang connections' and would be adversely affected if their father was kicked out of the UK.

Deport the lot! 

Which 'Public' Would Be Interested In Keeping Him, Then?

Despite Kodra's conviction for managing a brothel, possessing criminal property and possession of false ID he has been told he can remain in Britain.

Upholding his appeal against deportation on human rights grounds, Judge Cordella Bart-Stewart said: 'There is no evidence that he poses a risk to the public.

'He is a clever and industrious young man with the potential to contribute much to society. He has a home here and support.'

Remember when we were told female judges would bring a unique perspective to their role and ensure women and children would be recognised and their rights upheld? Wonder if this was what they meant... 

'He would be able to work. I find that the public interest does not require the appellant to be deported from the United Kingdom.'

Really? Are we short of home-grown criminal talent, then? 

She also noted that he had 'severe haemophilia' and would not have access to the same level of treatment in Albania – affecting his life expectancy.

Kodra claimed asylum in the UK when he was 15 and was granted limited leave to remain before appealing to extend it in 2017.

After an initial rejection he was granted leave for a further 18 months in July 2019 – the month he was arrested for running the brothel.

It is to laugh, isn't it?

Water companies have apologised for repeated sewage spills and pledged to invest £10bn this decade in an attempt to quell public anger over pollution in seas and rivers.

Shareholders in water companies will initially fund the investments. However, the costs will be recouped from customers through unspecified increases in their bills determined by regulators, in a move which threatens to add further pressure to household costs.

Is anyone surprised? You shouldn't be.

What does she have to say for herself, then? 

Magistrates were told Henry, who is the wife of Broxtowe MP Darren Henry, had written a letter to the court saying she was 'very sorry, embarrassed and ashamed'.

Her defence solicitor Noel Philo said the letter was written on 'advice I did not give'.

Oh dear! Well, don't be too upset, Noel, she doesn't even follow her own advice, never mind anyone else's! 

On her official PCC website, Henry listed ensuring an 'effective and efficient' police response to speeding as one of her priorities.

By giving them a lot of practice, one assumes? 

In a written statement issued after the hearing, Henry said: 'I cannot comment on the ongoing case. I will be explaining the context of this matter in due course.'

Can't wait!

Though looking at her pictured entering court, I wonder if 'The pie shop was closing early, your honour!' is going to feature heavily in that 'context'... 

What's The Romanian For 'You Couldn't Make It Up'..?

A juror who whipped out his phone during a criminal trial to research a case he was trying, has avoided jail.

Adrian Pirstin, from Iwade near Sittingbourne (Ed: only peripherally, Reader...), carried out an internet probe into elements of the hearing while in the jury-booth at Canterbury Crown Court.

And has avoided a spell in chokey? How? 

To be found in contempt of court usually carries a mandatory prison sentence however, the judge instead discharged Pirstin from jury duty with a verbal warning.

Recorder Matthew Turner ruled the “flagrant breach” was owed to Pirstin’s “insufficient grasp” of spoken English.

Wait, what..? How the hell do you get selected for jury duty if you can't follow the evidence?

“Now, I am not satisfied you have a sufficient grasp of spoken English to follow sufficiently simple instructions.

“You have ended up wasting half a day of court time and these matters are taken extremely seriously.

“Your phone was inpounded and interrogated by the National Crime Agency and it was discovered that you had been undertaking some research, and that you had communicated by text messages with your wife about this case.”

/facepalm 

Speaking outside the court, the “shocked” Romanian national apologised for his actions.

“I like to do research and I thought if I could understand some things it would help, and I didn’t understand you couldn’t do research.”

That won't wash. I've done jury duty and it's something you are specifically warned against. Perhaps HMRC should be looking into what other 'simple instructions' you don't understand? Like how to calculate your tax liability?

It's Not Our Responsibility...

Iyanuoluwa is among a growing number of refugees who claim the British government is ignoring black people who fled Ukraine.

No, the UK government is - quite rightly - ignoring non-Ukranians. You've got another option, haven't you? 

Iyanuoluwa is staying with two other Nigerian students in Boulogne-sur-Mer. All three fear returning to Nigeria because of the dangers of kidnapping and trafficking...

Really? So, you planned to stay in Ukraine forever? Yet never applied for citizenship, I note...  

“We’re coming from war and they are telling us that without a Ukrainian passport we can’t come to the UK, but the UK should consider all residents living in Ukraine when the war started,” she said.

Why should it? And why should the situation in Ukraine provide you - and the others - with a convenient back door into a UK that wouldn't be likely to grant you a visa in peacetime?

A school that served a tiny piece of turkey and stuffing in a bap with a single pig in blanket and mini roll for their £3.50 Christmas lunch has apologised after parents complained it was like 'something from Oliver Twist'.

The school has now apologised and offered a refund to students, blaming supply chain issues and Covid-related staff shortages as pupils called the offering 'rubbish' and 'gross, cold and soggy'.

What's There 'To Understand', Marcus..?

Rashford, recently awarded an MBE for his campaign work, took to Twitter after Neil Foden, the strategic head of Ysgol Dyffryn Nantlle in Penygroes, Gwynedd, warned parents the school cook would not give food to any pupil 'if their debt has not been cleared, or in the future, to children whose accounts do not have enough money to pay for lunch'.

Rashford said: 'Has the pandemic not taught us anything? Can we not be understanding? Come on now.'

He added: 'For many children, lunch at school is the only meal they'll get.'

Surely even a footballer - never the brightest - must understand that you have to pay for things in life?

Mr Foden said a 'handful of pupils' had run up debts totalling close to £2,000, and explained the stance further in an interview with the BBC on Thursday.

That's, what, an hour of 'work' for the likes of Rashford? If he's so concerned why doesn't he offer to clear the debt? 

While there has been some sympathy for the letter from some people, most of those who contacted local media condemned the move.

Well, of course - the vast majority who read this and thought 'Good for him!' have better things to do. 

Another mother said on Facebook: 'Shocking. I was £6 in debt and only realised yesterday. I completely forgot as I've been so busy with opening a new shop, running a business and caring for 4 children it slipped my mind. Not once did the school my children attend message or phoned me. They understand parents are busy and this can happen sometimes. Glad my children don't have a head teacher like this.'

When you're running your business if someone 'forgets to pay' for your goods or services, I wonder what your reaction is...

Lauren Cleary said: 'Even if the parents are spending all of their income on TVs and cigarettes (like the mainstream media would love you to believe), it's still never ever the child's fault. Shameful - where's his duty of care?'

His duty of care doesn't cover freeloaders.  

Maybe We Should Get The Taxpayer's View On 'Cheating'..?

A 24-year-old care-leaver who has been stuck in mouse-infested, damp-ridden temporary accommodation for three years feels she has been “cheated out of the system.”

She's 24? When did she leave care? And what has she done with her life since? 

Bianca Littlejohn was moved by Lewisham Council to a multiple occupancy property with her seven-year-old daughter on Inchmery Road, Catford, in 2018 after being evicted from a housing association flat for failure to pay arrears in 2018.

Ah. Of course. Breed on the taxpayer's dime.  

As a care-leaver under 25, she received guidance from a personal advisor, who instructed her to apply for housing directly through the council. Ms Littlejohn believes she was improperly advised, and could have instead applied for housing through social services, which would have meant her status as a care-leaver was taken into account.

If she's aware of the rules, why does she need an adviser? 

"I know other people who've been given as second chance under social services," Ms Littlejohn said. "I should have been, and I haven’t."

One might say that your second chance has come and gone. You squandered it when you failed to pay your rent. 

 

Is This Why Colleges Are Always Pleading Poverty?

Afsha Rana, 34, doctored spreadsheets and altered purchasing orders to get her hands on 334 devices during the four-year scam.

The shameless operations admin assistant was even seen on CCTV leaving City of Glasgow College with gadgets stuffed in a suitcase.

The city’s sheriff court heard she trousered £255,200 by flogging 176 items to Cash Converters and some to other retailers for “personal profit”.

Some blame must attach to whoever was overseeing purchasing. Surely they noticed? 

But her lawyer John Kilcoyne said: “She squandered all the money and gave it to friends.

“She said there is a man in London she doesn’t want her family to know about.”

If they read the papers, they know about him now! 

Rana, of Kelvinbridge, Glasgow, admitted embezzlement from March 2015 to April 2019.

The first offender, who was fired by the college, was remanded for sentencing next month.

Bet she doesn't see a day of jail time.

One For Priti's Deportation List...

Khadim Drame, who was called a 'promising young footballer', told the 45-year-old victim she was 'pretty and sexy' after following her from the bus stop in Aston Lane, Birmingham Crown Court heard.

When she rejected his advances, the then 18-year-old 'waved a bundle of cash' at her before raping her in a grassy area on Witton Lane behind Villa Park, the home of Aston Villa FC.

Feel the enrichment, folks! 

Drame, of Aston, also threatened to kill her if she pulled up her trousers during the petrifying ordeal on March 15 last year.

The rapist, now 20, initially denied a charge of rape but changed his plea to guilty on the second day of the trial after CCTV was played to the jury.

He was yesterday sentenced to 10 years and six months in a young offenders' institute at Birmingham Crown Court as the judge branded the attack 'every woman's worst nightmare'.

Why is he here? Is this a home-grown rapist? Reader, he is not: 

Judge Martin Hurst, sentencing, told Drame he would inevitably lose his career as a footballer after the court heard he had been playing at a 'high level'. He told him: 'You are now 20 years of age. At the time of the offence you were 18, nearly 19.

In 2019 you came to this country to take up an apprenticeship at Aston Villa Football Club.'

Then he should be on the first plane back after 10 years are up, shouldn't he? Oh, sorry, what am I saying. He's not even going to serve that, is he? 

Drame will serve seven-and-a-half years in the young offenders' institute before being eligible for release and will spend the remaining three years on extended licence.

What 'Urgent Work' Means To Local Government...

Travellers who moved onto an open space in Medway have claimed to council officials they have Covid-19.

Well, of course they have! But surely that won't fool our dedicated

...who represents Walderslade, explained Medway Council and police had visited the encampment to complete welfare checks.

The travellers' welfare, that is! 

He added: "Officials were told a couple of them have Covid. The ward councillors have been in contact with the Director of Public Health to arrange for testing and inoculations for them.

"Until it is proven they haven't got the virus we cannot move them on, where it could be spread throughout different locations. That would be totally irresponsible.

"The first stage of the legal process on eviction is the welfare checks, but everything has to go on hold until we can determine the Covid status. That's why urgent work is happening with the public health department."

Really? You seem to have a very different view of what, exactly, constitutes urgency. 

But one resident claims to have seen some people at the site continue to come and go and raised fears that this could still potentially spread any Covid-19.

The resident, who asked not to be named, added: "I haven't seen much evidence of social isolation. It surely must be easy to get lateral flow tests delivered as soon as possible as we're worried about the risks to health of people nearby."

Given the government has been foisting them on absolutely everyone it can, you'd think so, wouldn't you? 

He added: "We've experienced noise with people arguing among themselves and local dog walkers who use the field for recreational purposes.

"Their dog is attacking local dogs and the field is no longer available to use without feeling intimidated. We are concerned more will join them, making even more noise and mess."

Post an armed officer near the park, and if the traveller's dog starts a fight, shoot it.  

Tear Down This (Stone)Wall..

Ms Truss, the Equalities Minister, has told friends that she thinks Whitehall should pull out of the charity’s Diversity Champions scheme, under which employers pay Stonewall for advice on how to implement equality laws and policies. She voiced her opinion after Nancy Kelley, Stonewall’s chief executive, recently likened ‘gender critical’ beliefs to antisemitism.

And it's not just politicians who have sensed which way the winds of change are blowing: 

A former hospital boss has accused the NHS of putting patients at risk by signing up to Stonewall’s controversial Diversity Champions scheme. 

Ms Grimes accused Stonewall of ‘undermining’ the NHS’s ability to keep patients safe, ‘stifling’ free speech and creating a ‘culture of fear’ among some NHS staff. And she warned some advice risked ‘opening up NHS organisations to litigation and reputational damage’.

And not just the NHS either: 

Embattled diversity charity Stonewall is making hundreds of thousands of pounds by enrolling schools on to a programme of transgender guidance that critics have branded ‘dangerous’.

Legal experts and campaigners last night criticised the material. Naomi Cunningham, a barrister specialising in discrimination law, said: ‘The advice being given to schools by Stonewall is dangerous and unlawful. There is legislation that requires schools to provide separate toilets for girls and boys. So if a school allows a boy who identifies as female to use the girls’ toilets, it is in breach of the law.’

This organisation has long since outstayed its welcome and, as all organisations do when they get too big and the money's too good to give up at the top, sought to expand into ever more ridiculous 'causes'. 

Enough's enough. 

'Due Diligence', Mr Powley - Look It Up!

A company owner who lost thousands of pounds to a devious employee has spoken of his anger after the thief avoided jail time.

Kindly boss Alan Powley of Pyramid Screen Products in London Road, West Kingsdown, had even loaned £8,000 to employee Dean Jefferies, only for him to repay his boss' generosity by stealing a further £17,000.

Oh no! How could this happen? 

Now Mr Powley says he is "absolutely gutted" after Jefferies- who has committed similar offences twice previously - walked free from the sentencing without even having to pay him back.

Ah. Right. I see now. 

"Mr Powley trusted him, giving him access to the company's PayPal account to make business purchases, " he added.

In June 2018, another employee noticed "discrepancies" and it was discovered that Jefferies had been misusing the account.

Even the hired mouthpiece couldn't quite believe the naievety here: 

Phil Rowley, defending, said: "There is no doubt Mr Powley was extremely generous."

Well, that's one way of putting it! 

Speaking out following the sentencing, Mr Powley said he had lost faith in the criminal justice system. "The sentence I'm disgusted with," he said.

"Four years ago this guy worked for me and he seemed a nice guy, really helpful, and all the time he was taking money.

"He was a likeable guy and I lent him money because he had problems. In the meantime he was filtering money out using the company credit card on eBay and other sites.

"We got him into court after four years and he pleaded guilty to all charges. He got a suspended jail sentence for a year and he's got to go to rehab for 25 days, but they didn't order him to pay anything back. It doesn't make sense."

There's a lot of things that don't make sense about this story. Perhaps the judge was considering that parable about a fool and his money?
