I am of course not talking about illegal immigrants - they are well protected - but about invasive parakeets. Apparently, the London catapult yobs find them an easy target, and at least this spares our native wildlife.

A wildlife charity said 43 ring-necked parakeets were found in Priory Gardens in Orpington, south-east London, in just three weeks.

Dead, from likely catapult wielding youths. Well, saves them using native species for targets, I guess...  

The charity is now calling for tighter controls on the sale of catapults to under-18s and for wildlife crime to be given greater priority by police.

Of course they are. 

Gareth Bacon, the Conservative MP for Orpington, has previously called for catapult sales to be licensed.

Anyone Other Than Ukraine Would Draw Condemnation For This

A computer game-style drone attack system has gone “viral” among Ukrainian military units and is being extended to reconnaissance, artillery and logistics operations, the nation’s first deputy prime minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, has told the Guardian. Drone teams competing for points under the “Army of Drones Bonus System” killed or wounded 18,000 Russian soldiers in September, with 400 drone units now taking part in the competition, up from 95 in August, Ukrainian officials said. The system, which launched more than a year ago, rewards soldiers who achieve strikes with points that can be exchanged to buy more weapons in an “Amazon-for-war” online store called Brave1 filled with more than 100 different drones, autonomous vehicles and other drone war material. It has a leaderboard topped by teams with names such as Achilles and Phoenix.

Can anyone imagine the screams of outrage from every columnist in the Guardian if this system existed in any war involving UK or US forces? Or the Israeli Defence Force? 

Yet strangely, there's not a hint of concern on moral grounds about this, in the article.

Oh, my mistake, there is one after all - not on morality issues though, purely on future success grounds.

But the extension of the points-based system comes amid warnings that increasing reliance on drone warfare is not something Nato countries should follow because Russian defences against such unmanned aerial attacks have become formidable.

 Aparrently, a new film with the ubiquitous Pedro Pascal has cast a light on the popularity of leg lengthening surgery, and the NHS is worried.

...amid a wave of interest in the cosmetic procedure and clinics in Turkey offering discounts, the NHS in England has issued a stark warning, urging people against it. The surgery involves breaking the bones in the legs before pulling them apart to lengthen them over weeks or months.

Which sounds pretty extreme but is nothing compared to the horrors of trying to make a man into a facsimile of a woman, or even worse, vice versa. So why isn't the NHS similarly warning against this too? 

Prof Tim Briggs, an orthopaedic surgeon and NHS England’s national director for clinical improvement and elective recovery, said leg lengthening surgery was “not a quick fix”.

Neither is 'gender reassignment' surgery. We can tell by the number of victims who go on to kill themselves. 

“It is a serious, invasive procedure that can be beneficial for patients when there is a genuine clinical need but carries significant risks and requires informed discussions between patient and surgeon.

Yup, just like the modern day practice of hacking away a lump of flesh from a girl's arm or leg to fashion into a non-working penis so she can pretend to be male. 

“Patients face months of treatment, which can be extremely painful, with the possibility of infection, nerve damage, blood clots and even permanent disability.

Also no different. 

“Anyone considering this surgery for cosmetic reasons abroad, should think very carefully about the long recovery and the risks, and I would urge against it unless well informed about where they are seeking treatment.

Why aren't the mentally ill men and women who believe they are the opposite sex similarly urged to consider if it's the right course?

“Don’t gamble with your health or your life for a few extra inches without fully understanding the risks.”

An Irish person in Berlin has been hospitalised after being physically assaulted and arrested by German police during a protest against the killing of journalists in Gaza by Israeli air strikes.Speaking in Kerry today, Taoiseach Michéal Martin said he was “deeply concerned” by what he had seen and that such an assault is “unacceptable”.

They said the Irish Ambassador to Germany, Maeve Collins, alongside senior officials in the department “have conveyed our concern about the incident to the German authorities”.

Similarly, the left on Twitter have been jumping up and down about it non-stop. despite the fact video shows she was clearly asking for it.

But a leaked email shows that the influential trans lobby group Stonewall attempted to suppress the investigation before it had even been published – and made the extraordinary claim that debating the issues was equivalent to ‘sexual racism’.

Sadly for Stonewall, this doesn't hold the 'third rail' keep off cachet it once did, given how racism claims are unravelling left, right and centre.

I'm pretty sure that's not true. After all, isn't conversion therapy now being banned because you cannot influence desire, and it's wrong to try?

Clearly, the Beeb thought long and hard about that, and said 'Nope!' 

The Corporation’s decision to abandon ties with Stonewall – and publish the article – suggests the BBC is taking a much more robust approach.

Explaining why this year's event was also being cancelled, a spokesperson for the mayor said: "Due to the uncertainty caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, our world-famous New Year's Eve display will not be held on the banks of the Thames this year.

"Last year's successful show took place in a slightly different way due to the pandemic, and this year a number of exciting new options are being considered as part of our New Year's Eve celebrations in London."

Thames Valley Police have confirmed they have dropped their investigation into a reported rape in Witney.

Extensive searches of the area and a 'thorough examination' of CCTV footage was undertaken by investigators after a woman in her twenties reported being raped in St Mary's churchyard in the early hours of Sunday morning. Police now say they are no longer investigating the case...

And are investigating her instead..? Well.... 

...and that no other investigations will be taking place.

Strange, that. If a crime has been falsely reported, shouldn't the police act? 

Superintendent Emma Garside, Local Policing Commander for Cherwell & West Oxfordshire, said: 'It would not be helpful to speculate as to the reasons of the initial report, but I would like to thank the public and local community for coming forward to support information which supported this investigation.'

Which I'm sure they'll do with the same alacrity next time. Or...will they? 

US State Declares 'Migrants Not Welcome, Kill On Sight'

Since arriving in Pennsylvania, probably via a shipping container from Asia, [the migrants] have ravaged the US north-east in recent years.

Chelsea Kirtley was changing her 11-week-old son Theo’s nappy in 2017 when she spotted a mark on his stomach. Three inches long and pinkish-brown, Chelsea panicked.

Holly Kobayashi was suspected of harming her eight-day-old baby, Adventure, after he developed a bruise the size of a 5p piece on his left arm in September 2017.

And both women were totally innocent: 

It was only after she sought a second medical opinion that Theo was diagnosed with hypermobility — a genetic condition that can cause skin to break or damage easily, which had caused the mark on Theo’s stomach.

It took four months for Social Services to conclude that the bruise had been caused by accident.

So...how on earth do stories like this one happen? Why do social services turn a blind eye to cases like this, and go in like gangbusters on middle-class Englishwomen?

In context of the fact that he had searched ‘for material for five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10-year-old girls… two men rape girl’ and was in possession of images of ‘the sexual abuse of very young children… featuring what appeared to be seven different children, aged between 12 months and seven years’ and the penetration of a baby, of course it makes sense he’s in favour of men being allowed in the ladies’.

And this 'man' - I use the word advisedly - is an MP. Let that sink in. 

But Julie reserves her scorn for those who would normally turn their fire on such a creature, had he been anyone other than a Labour MP:

A Condado Tacos in Columbus, Ohio, came under scrutiny on Monday after social media posts alleged that the chain’s suburban Polaris location had filled a large food order for Ohio Highway Patrol officers in the midst of national protests highlighting police brutality.

On Monday, at least four employees were allegedly fired by a district manager for refusing to fill the order and choosing to walkout during a shift.

And quite rightly so. When did they get to choose who they serve?

Condado Tacos is an Ohio-based Mexican restaurant chain with nearly 20 locations across the Rust Belt. Eater reached out to employees at other locations who were in direct contact with Condado Polaris workers and one worker who was involved in the the walkout. All agreed that the culture at their individual restaurants was supportive of actions being taken by demonstrators, with one employee stating that managers had offered time-off to protest and committed to bail employees out of jail if they were arrested.

Frankly, if they want to stir up trouble for themselves in this way, it's their business, But having given the inch, they shouldn't be too surprised when the ingrates they employ come back for the mile...

However, the incident has left many employees and customers uncomfortable with upper management.

Well, they can always get a job somewhere else. It's a free country.

A separate tweet from a person claiming to be an employee, @gsheamercer, went viral on Monday evening receiving more than 10,000 retweets and 61,000 likes. In the tweet, @gsheamercer writes, “today on my day off my job forced us to do a massive catering order for the columbus police department. the staff walked out and was fired. when i go in tm, myself and other are gonna demand an apology and if we don’t get it we also will walk out.”

Good news for unemployed Columbus citizens needing a job then.

Keeping public toilets closed at parks and beauty spots is sexist towards women, it is claimed.

Speaking to FEMAIL, charity campaigners and medical experts warned the measure 'adversely and disproportionately affects women and girls' because they are forced to 'plan their lives and freedom around toilets' in a way that men are not.

Menstruation and a more frequent urge to urinate means women often find themselves in greater need of facilities than men.

Surely not 'women'. Surely it's 'people who menstruate'?
