In One Bold Stroke, Two-Tier Policing And The Labour Government's Ineptitude...

H/T: Dave at Twitter

Update

Shortly after cuing this post up, someone with two brain cells to run together realised how it would look and he was arrested. It'll be interesting to see if he's charged, I can't see the nototiously work-shy CPS wanting to take a punt at it.

Oh, Marvellous!

He's an avid cyclist, known for taking swipes at bad drivers. But Jeremy Vine admits his three-point turns aren't always up to scratch - with one scrape costing him £1,000 in damages.

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha !

The TV and radio presenter scratched a Land Rover while doing the manoeuvre in a car park. The 60-year-old, who courts controversy online with his videos of dodgy drivers, claimed it was 'microscopic', adding that 'oversized SUVs' have ruined the atmosphere in the Devon village where he bumped the Landrover.

The scratch probably only cost £50 to buff out - the rest was an asshole surcharge!

And Hopefully, You've Learned A Lesson...

An experienced magistrate has been given a warning for misconduct after making a 'racist' comment on WhatsApp during a discussion about Winston Churchill. Derek Muhammad JP made the comment in a private message group during an 'intellectual discussion about the complex legacy of Winston Churchill and the colonial history of Britain'.

Oh ho ho. How I love to see people hoist on their own petard...

But, another member of the group complained it was 'racially prejudiced' and left them in a state of 'distress'.

Deploying the ultimate weapon of the once-great British judicial system: 'I'm offended!'

Bedfordshire-based Mr Muhammad, who has been a magistrate for almost 20 years, denied the comment was racist and claimed it had actually been a 'criticism of colonial exploitation'. He added that he could not be prejudiced against people 'with whom he shares ancestry'. But, despite his protestations, Mr Muhammad has now been given formal advice for misconduct.

I wonder if at any time throughout this process he had second thoughts on the wisdom of becoming part of such a captured enterprise as the modern judicial system. I do hope so.

The Biters Bit

Scotland Yard is using AI tools supplied by the US tech company Palantir to monitor staff behaviour in an attempt to root out failing officers, the Guardian has learned.

Oh dear!

The Police Federation, which represents rank-and-file officers, criticised the approach as “automated suspicion”. It said: “Officers must not be subjected to opaque or untested tools that risk misinterpreting unsustainable workload pressures, sickness or overtime as indicators of wrongdoing.”

But it's perfectly OK for the public to be subjected to

Inventions Often Turn On Their Creators...

Didn't anyone at the Home Office ever read Mary Shelley or H G Wells

The origins of the character are ironic, to say they least. An early iteration of Amelia began life in a counter-extremism video game funded by the UK Home Office and created to deter young people aged 13-18 from being attracted to far right extremism in Yorkshire.

Why would they be? What's been happening in Yorkshire, I wonder?

Pathways: Navigating the Internet and Extremism is a simple multiple choice format game with basic animation. Its players are taken on a journey as characters at a college. They are invited to make decisions in scenarios including whether or download potentially extremist content or join an Amelia character on a rally organised by “a small political group” protesting against changes in society and the “erosion in British values”.

You released a virtuesignalling hectoring game, one that you really should have known would be subverted by gamers post-Gamergate...

Certain choices result in a referral under the British government’s Prevent counter-terrorism programme.

And of course, that's exactly what happened!

However, it is a subversion of the Amelia character that has exploded across social media channels in a way that has astonished even the creators of the original game. Among the plethora of increasingly sophisticated AI-generated iterations are a Manga-style Amelia, a Wallace and Gromit version and AI-generated “real life” encounters between her and the characters of Father Ted or Harry Potter, accompanied by racist language and far-right messaging.

We live in ....interesting times, don't we?

You Can't Escape The Consequences Of Your Own Actions, Anna

A Labour MP has said she has been subjected to death threats and online misogynistic abuse after a video was shared by a Conservative MP about her position on a national inquiry into grooming gangs.
Anna Dixon, the MP for Shipley in West Yorkshire, said police were investigating the threats and accused the MP for Keighley and Ilkley, Robbie Moore, of disseminating “misinformation” about her stance on the issue.

Such as?

Moore posted a video on Wednesday on social media with the caption: “Shipley’s Labour MP Anna Dixon is ‘misleading public’ on grooming gangs inquiry. “Anna is telling constituents she voted against an inquiry because it was a ‘political stunt’. But a closer look at the facts shows Anna has been dismissing calls for an inquiry since day one.

Ah. So, is he? Have you actually been calling for and supporting such an inquiry, Anna?

The evidence seems to indicate that you haven't, so all Moore is doing is calling attention to your own actions, isn't he? Are you so poorly ediucated you don't understand the term 'misleading'?

Here, this may help.

Dixon denies the claims and said she only voted against a Tory proposal for a national inquiry into grooming gangs because it included an amendment to the children’s wellbeing and schools bill.

It dorsb't matter why you did, the point is you did vote against it. so it's no use crying foul when someone points that out!

In response, Moore said: “I utterly condemn any threats of violence against elected politicians or anyone in public life … I would urge readers to watch the full video in question, which is not a personal attack and raises legitimate concerns about the MP for Shipley’s public position on a grooming inquiry in Bradford.” He added: “I recently organised a cross-party letter to the prime minister on this issue, signed by 98 MPs from six different political parties, including Labour. Unfortunately, the MP for Shipley was not one of them.

Well, Anna, seems you've passed up every opportunity to support an inquiry that's been given to you.

“We are now in a situation in Bradford where victims and survivors and leading child abuse lawyers are desperately calling for a focus on Bradford in the grooming gangs inquiry, with a sitting Labour peer explicitly saying there has been a cover-up inside Bradford council. “The fact that the MP for Shipley does not and, from her public comments today, still does not unequivocally support a focus on Bradford in this national inquiry is both a newsworthy and legitimate concern.”

Indeed it is. And no amount of blustering anf obfuscation is going to get her out of a hole she's dug herself. All she's done by issuing this statement is call attention to her position on grooming gangs. That's Labour for you - their MPs are even thicker than their voters!

Could The Riots Spell The End Of 'Hope Not Hate'..?

Struggling authorities are convinced they are being driven by 'false information on social media':
Chief constable BJ Harrington, the national lead for public order, told the Guardian a range of criminal offences were being investigated, from those committing violence on the streets, to those alleged to be whipping it up: “We are looking at a whole range of stuff. If we find there are people conspiring to commit violence, we will bring charges. “Social media is playing a large part, we are looking at that,” he said, adding it was being used in the “incitement and encouragement”.
He said: “People in foreign countries are putting out disinformation.
No need to look that far afield, BJ! I wonder when Nick will be nicked?

Whoops!

Couldn't happen to a nicer chap.

Racism In Football - Is This An Own Goal?

Sentencing Quadri, from Dartford, District Judge Louisa Cieciora said: ‘You demonstrated hostility based on the victim's race and of course it was in a public forum.
‘I have to take into account the wider context - particularly that footballers have been taking the knee in all games to demonstrate their ongoing commitment to fight racism and all forms of discrimination, and the fact that the comment is likely to be seen by a wider audience, and the harm caused by racism is of course pervasive and should never be underestimated.'

He was upset a black footballer passed the ball to a white teammate, and clearly felt not a twinge of shame about stating it so clearly no-one could deny he was racist.

Prosecutor Frances McCormack told Westminster Magistrates' Court Quadri used the the name @quadz19 on X when he made the post. This was reported to the football association and the police began investigating it.
Mr McCormack said: 'He stated in an interview that he didn’t think the comments were offensive because he was a black male himself, so he did make partial admissions but not full admissions.
'He made the comment because in that particular match at that particular time the previous four people who had scored a goal for England had been black, and he said that if Mr Wilson had scored a goal there would have been an all black scoring sheet.'

His brief could only fall back on his age as a possible excuse.

James Powell, defending Quadri, said: 'This is an indication more of immaturity rather than wickedness.
'There’s been no offending before or since this one act of immaturity which may be the only act of immaturity he’s ever committed in his life.'

Should have ended that with 'so far'.

Should Have Been Like Caesar's Wife, Azeem...

The ECB are set to investigate allegations that Azeem Rafiq used anti-Semitic and homophobic language during his playing career, which could lead to the former Yorkshire spinner being put on another misconduct charge.
Sportsmail published explosive claims about Rafiq on Thursday from former team-mates and opponents, who claim the anti-racism campaigner abused players with the words 'Jew' and 'f****t', as well as fat-shaming children when coaching at Barnsley Cricket Club.
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear...
The 31-year-old denies all the allegations and has claimed they are part of a smear campaign designed to undermine him.
Sure they are... 😏

Oh, Suddenly, It's An Emergency..?

The mayor of New York, Eric Adams, on Friday declared a state of emergency...

Oh, weather related? They get some bad storms ov...

Wait!

...amid an influx of migrants sent to the city by the Republican governor of Texas.

Ha ha ha ha ha! Wait, wait, I'm missing something.

 Ah, there it is!

“There was never any agreement to take on the job of supporting thousands of asylum seekers,” Adams said on Friday.

Yeah, there was - you just thought it would fall on your political enemies.

“This responsibility was simply handed to us without warning as buses began showing up. There is no playbook for this, no precedent.

Yeah, there is - Texas, where they stream over the border in their tens of thousands.

In a New York Post column in August, Abbott accused Adams of hypocrisy over border policy.
“Adams talked the talk about being a sanctuary city – welcoming illegal immigrants into the Big Apple with warm hospitality,” the Republican wrote. “Talk is cheap. When pressed into fulfilling such ill-considered policies, he wants to condemn anyone who is pressing him to walk the walk.”

Delicious!

Why Should The UK Taxpayer Be On The Hook?

A woman has described the moment her dog tried to kill her in her own home, leaving her with horrific injuries more akin to a "shark attack".

Her own dog, eh?

Caroline Fisher, 48, had only just returned to her home in Blackpool, Lancashire, when her Bulgarian rescue dog Metcho turned on her on Thursday June 9.
The 5ft6 Karakachan, which weighs a whopping 12st 8lb, ripped the back off her right arm and mauled her left leg so badly her tendons were left exposed as she battled to escape with her life.

/facepalm

The carer who lives with her brother Richard said Metcho had only ever been aggressive towards another dog once before and never expected that he could turn on her.

Ah, the old 'He's never done that (to me) before' again...

A passing neighbour came to her aid and Caroline was rushed to hospital, where she remains awaiting multiple skin and muscle graft surgeries. But her family have slammed Lancashire Police, who they claim didn’t respond to the dangerous emergency for three days.

Wait, what..?

...her brother, Richard, said: “All they were bothered about was that the dog was in the house.
“They said it wasn’t a priority.
“I had the dog in the back garden but I was worried that he would escape over the fence
“The dog warden said the only time they would come out is if social services called them out, they said they don’t come out to a dangerous dog like that for their own health and safety.
“The police finally rang back on Sunday afternoon and said we have seen your sister, we know how bad the attack is, we are going to get the ball rolling.
“The copper that came was actually really good to be fair, he said ‘I can’t believe it has taken this long’
“But they tried to charge me £1,200 to get the dog put down and they asked me if I could get rid of the body.
“I said ‘how am I meant to do that, it’s not a case of just digging a hole in your garden, how am I meant to get rid of an 80kg dog that’s basically just eaten my sister?’”

You pay the vet what he asks to cremate the thing and thank your lucky stars you aren't paying a hell of a lot more for your sister's funeral!

The dog was finally put down on Sunday evening after three days of Richard being forced to stay upstairs and eat out every night while keeping Metcho locked in the kitchen.

Serves him right!

Now the family have launched a GoFundMe to help Caroline financially as she will only receive two weeks paid sick leave despite doctors being unable to predict how long she will be hospitalised.
Richard said: “It was like some of them didn’t have a clue some, sounded like they weren’t bothered, the RSPCA just said we’re a charity we don’t deal with this.”
Lancashire Police confirmed that they have since requested that the vet bill for Metcho to be destroyed is invoiced to them and not Caroline's family.

What?! Why should the taxpayer foot the bill for what was a totally self-inflicted incident? Why should strangers pay for this stupid woman's injuries caused as a result of her own stupidity?

"...it's 'not something that I feel I have to speak about publicly'..."

Goodness me! Has Lewis Hamilton finally run out of things to pontificate about?

The world Formula One champion has disowned his team Mercedes' sponsorship deal with Kingspan, which made combustible insulation for the tower block – but the firm's logo was still emblazoned on his car during the race.
Hamilton initially refused to answer questions on the matter at a press conference ahead of the race in Jeddah saying it was 'not something that I feel I have to speak about publicly'.

But for once, the journalists did their job:

But when pushed he said: 'It was news to me when I heard this week.
'We know there has been a huge outcry and an amazing amount of support by people in the community.
'It is really nothing to do with me and I know Toto (Wolff, the team principal) is sorting it. Unfortunately my name is associated with it because it has been on my car, but whether that remains the same, we will see.'

Now, personally, I couldn't care less. It's another case of cancel culture, that I should be hoping fails. But isn't it nice to see Hamilton squirm, for once?

"I Don't Understand Why The Crocodile Is Eating Us..."

"...didn't we feed him?"

Formula One bosses are 'apoplectic' with Lewis Hamilton for accusing the sport of putting money ahead of all else in the farce of the rain-sabotaged Belgian Grand Prix.
The seven-time world champion accused the sport that has made him a fortune worth more than £250million of greed by staging a ludicrous 'race' of just two laps behind the safety car on Sunday.
He said the 75,000 fans who were drenched to the bone should be refunded their ticket price, worth between £107 and £505.

And much as it galls me to say it...he's right.

One source told Sportsmail: 'There is absolute fury internally at the naivety of Lewis's comments. He talks about handing back millions of pounds to fans, though he makes millions out of Formula One, and it guarantees his team's job, and he gives little or nothing back himself.
'He could have expressed his opinions privately rather than in the way he did, which makes no sense.'

Did you suggest the same when he was parading his support for a Marxist black supremacist organisation

No?

Well, then...

"But We Took A Knee! And Let You Run Riot In The Capital!"

"Why are you doing this!?"

Gosh, why indeed? It's a puzzle, isn't it? Allow me to refresh your memory a little:

Ooops!

The simple answer is: "Because you let them think they could get away with it..."

It's called 'consequences'. Of weak, vitruesignalling 'leadership'. Of cowering before a mob.
The Metropolitan Police Federation, which represents rank-and-file officers, said attacks on officers seem to be increasing, adding: 'Yet again this starkly shows the dangers @metpoliceuk face and the bravery they show each and every day keeping Londoners safe.'
Not all of them showed 'bravery'. I wonder if seeing their colleagues kicked to the ground gave them a twinge of guilt?

There's predictable condemnation from all those who previously sowed the wind, but will never find themselves on the streets to reap the whirlwind. But one man gets it:
Shaun Bailey, the Conservative candidate for next year's London Mayoral elections, linked the incident to the Black Lives Matter protests, which saw police criticised for failing to take a tougher line with demonstrators. 'This is what happens when you try to appease the mob,' he tweeted. 'You lose control of the streets.'
Maybe the Police Federation needs to look a bit closer to home?

But Shouldn't We Hear Daniel Radcliffe's Opinion On This..?

Keeping public toilets closed at parks and beauty spots is sexist towards women, it is claimed.
Speaking to FEMAIL, charity campaigners and medical experts warned the measure 'adversely and disproportionately affects women and girls' because they are forced to 'plan their lives and freedom around toilets' in a way that men are not.
Menstruation and a more frequent urge to urinate means women often find themselves in greater need of facilities than men.
Surely not 'women'. Surely it's 'people who menstruate'?

Shouldn't we take the advice of noted medical expert Daniel Radcliffe on this subject?

Who Could Have Predicted This? Pt 78924893256987412

Yeah, that's right. Everyone. As usual:

“Some are ongoing neighbour disputes and nothing to do with coronavirus. People have had pops at each other and are using this as an opportunity to try to cause more grief and get officers around to their address,” said a senior police source, who asked for their force not to be named.
This development has prompted the National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC) to urge the public to “exercise common sense and only report well-meaning concerns”.
We've seen how the police themselves 'exercise common sense', haven't we?
The police’s professional standards body, the College of Policing, which along with the NPCC drew up last week’s updated guidance on how to enforce the lockdown, echoed the concerns. “Deliberate false reporting, obstruction or misinformation at a time of crisis helps nobody, and risks public safety. In those cases police will use their discretion in determining whether enforcement action is appropriate,” it said.
We've seen how the police 'use their discretion', haven't we?

The Reformed Are Always The Most Passionate...

Smokers, most of all. And now we can add former progressives:
In order to maintain the fantasy that our sex is unconnected to our bodies, the truth must be bent and beaten in the fire of academic language. That is why trans activists talk about sex being ‘assigned at birth’ – an abuse of language, if ever I heard one. Is the sex of a newborn ‘assigned’ by a capricious midwife? Of course not. Rather it is observed and recorded as a matter of fact.
‘Assigned’ is one of the more successful hijackings of English achieved by gender ideologues, yet you will hear it parroted across many organisations from the NHS to the BBC – the sort of institution where you really would expect people to know better.
Says which transgressor against progressive orthodoxy? Why, none other than Graham Linehan, former darling of the BBC crowd, for his portrayal of organised religion in 'Father Ted'. And enthusiastic supporter of right-on causes like abortion rights and the removal of Page 3.

Who unfortunately thought that granted him immunity from the identity politics crowd.

Until he made the mistake of declaring biological reality existed and was immutable. And the mob turned on him, as of course, mobs are wont to do...
I’m worried we’re entering an era of pre-chewed, prissy art that offends no one. But it’s not comedy writers who are the victims of all this: it is women who are the real casualties.
Gender ideology is a disaster for women. They are expected to make room for men in their changing rooms and their safe spaces. They are being robbed of the language to describe their reality by unintelligible academic ‘gender experts’, by teenagers encouraging each other online, by parents who are profoundly mistaken, and by well-meaning people who, confused by the ever-changing terminology, still believe they are defending what used to be called transsexuals. All these forces working together are, whether they know it or not, providing a smokescreen for fetishists, conmen and misogynists to pursue their own agenda.
In years to come, we will look back at this scandal, at the ruined bodies, the confused crime statistics, the weakening of safeguarding and the rollback of women’s rights and wonder how it was left to go on for so long.
Because those institutions you sneer at were taught, by progressives, to genuflect to the 'offended', of course, under pain of boycott, legal action and campaign. By people like you.

It's your petard. Enjoy it.

How'd You Like That Sauce, Ganders...?

Is it tasty?
Six months following the protest, the chain's sales dropped by more than nine per cent and owners of franchises in predominantly white suburbs began to lose money and sell off their restaurants.
The company’s chief operating officer, Mark Farrelly, said in an interview during the height of the boycott that they were facing right-wing backlash'.
The boycott is the favoured weapon of the Left, isn't it? Protesting in this way is a weapon both sides can use.

I wonder if Spurs sells popcorn?
