White Woman 'Savior Syndrome ' Goes Wrong

A woman was left needing surgery after being mauled by her dog - which she had adopted on Facebook three weeks earlier. Charlotte Potts, 32, adopted the one-year-old Cane Corso cross American Bulldog from a breeder on Facebook.

Adopting a powerful breed from Facebook, what could possibly go wrong?  

Initially, the dog - called Blue - settled in well and Charlotte says he didn't "show any aggression" towards her and her family. But on her routine walk on Saturday morning, July 4, Blue turned on Charlotte and attacked her, sinking his jaws into her legs after ripping through her trousers.She called for her younger brother, eight, to run and leave the enclosed dog park and call for help whilst Blue continued to attack her. The dog then went for Charlotte's right arm which she allowed him to do whilst she used her left arm to tie his lead to a fence.

The kid is lucky it didn’t turn on him. She would never have fought it off. 

The whole ordeal lasted around eight minutes, and Charlotte was taken to hospital by ambulance whilst the dog was euthanised by the police.

With extreme prejudice, I hope!

"It felt like a really long time - I didn't think I was going to get out of there. There's six levels of dog bites, and six is fatal - this one was level five. I love dogs, but I want to raise awareness around making sure dogs are fully assessed before being rehomed."

Thanks a lot, sweetie but most of us are sensible enough not to acquire a misbegotten mutt of unknown background from social media in the first place! Certainly not one of a bloodsport heritage that probably outweighs us.

In the weeks before the attack, police visited Charlotte after receiving an anonymous tip off that she owned an XL Bully. They determined that Blue was an American Bulldog by Vegetable taking a photo of his head and as a result, did not take him away.

Isn't it about time there were restrictions on dog ownership no matter the breed? Didn’t any of the cops take a look at the hulking brute and suggest to her she wouldn’t be able to control it if it went berserk?

I knew we hadn't heard the last of Jonty Bravery:

A man who threw a six-year-old boy from the 10th floor of the Tate Modern art gallery has been charged over an alleged attack of two women at Broadmoor Hospital.

It's not known whther they are fellow patients or staff, but why is a madman who cannot control himself ever in the same location as any other people without being restrained, whoever they are? It's not like they aren't fully aware of the risk he poses, is it? If a zoo was run so dangerously and with so many incidents, it'd be closed down by the HSE!

Bravery has been accused of beating Linda McKinlay and Kate Mastalerz at the maximum security hospital in Berkshire on September 30 last year. He is due to stand trial at Westminster Magistrates' Court on November 10, but prosecutor Tina Flannery said Bravery was 'not going to engage' with legal proceedings at today's preliminary hearing.

She said: 'He sends messages via the team at Broadmoor to say it is going to affect his therapy if he attends court.' Defending, Sukh Khalon said he had not been able to meet with Bravery following two thwarted attempts to arrange a legal visit in May and June this year.

As can be expected when dealing with a madman. The judge, for once, isn't going along with it: 

District Judge Paul Goldspring said his scheduled trial will go ahead even if he chooses not to engage in the proceedings.

“Bison are no more dangerous than domestic cattle…”

Oh my, a sadly departed Blogger would have laughed himself hoarse at that...

When Europe’s heaviest land mammals were introduced into a woodland on the edge of Canterbury, it was hoped they would flourish and make space for other wildlife. But the European bison have been so successful in West Blean and Thornden Woods that more space must be made for them – in the form of Britain’s first ever bison bridges.

Whut? 

Four bridges costing a total of £1m are being built in to allow introduced bison, which are classified as dangerous wild animals in UK law, to cross the maze of public footpaths in the ancient woods without interacting with people.

At least the taxpayer's not entirely on the hook for this one:

The bridges, which are funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund alongside National Highways, the Michael Uren Foundation, Veolia Environmental Trust, Garfield Weston Foundation and private donors, will enable the herd to traverse 200 hectares.

We really should be looking to the continent to see the potential hazards of this sort of thing. 

Simon Bateman-Brown of Kent Wildlife Trust said:“We recognise that miles of fencing and bridges is a barrier to rewilding projects, but we must demonstrate what can be achieved so we can advocate for change. Bison are no more dangerous than domestic cattle and, in other parts of the world, they roam freely in public areas.

“Our long-term vision is to remove the steel fencing and have the herd contained via electric fencing, but until the government makes the law fit for rewilding, we will continue to make a case for projects like this, so they can be replicated.”

You mean, until the government abandons health and safety entirely, Simon? 

Charge Him? With What..?

...it's not illegal to have sex with a willing woman. So he hasn't actually broken any laws. 

Victims of a prisoner who was filmed allegedly having sex with a female guard have slammed reports that he will not see further punishments, claiming 'this is not what we thought it meant to get hard time in prison'. Linton Weirich, 36, of West London, was seen in a clip filmed on a smuggled phone appearing to have sex with prison officer Linda De Sousa Abreu at HMP Wandsworth. The incident involving the prolific burglar, who is currently serving four years and nine months, led to police investigation with married De Sousa Abreu, 30, charged with misconduct in public office.

Because she has committed a crime. And she is yet another case where a good perusal of her social media before hiring her would have been a good idea!

De Sousa Abreu, 30, who is married, appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court yesterday charged with misconduct in public office. The prison officer was arrested at Heathrow Airport on Saturday before she could catch a flight to see relatives in Madrid, a court heard yesterday. She was attempting to travel on a Portuguese passport, which was seized by the Metropolitan Police.

When will the Prison Service learn not to recruit foreigners with pouting 'glamour shots' all over their social media to be prison officers?

The RSPCA - Harming Animals In The Future!

Police bust a dogfighting ring in leafy, upmarket Chigwell, and the RSPCA ensure....that the illegal pitbulls are well cared for? Seriously?!

RSPCA Behaviour and Welfare Specialist Claire said: 'A lot of these dogs were nervous and shut down when they arrived in our care and many had extensive scarring on their muzzles, heads, chests and front legs; something we see in dogs who have been involved in organised fighting.

'The dogs were being kept in poor conditions, with little interaction with the outside world, except for when they were taken to fight another dog in bloody bouts that often ended in serious and fatal injuries.

'They had never experienced what it's like to curl up on a sofa and feel safe, or the fun of running through grassy fields or chasing after a football.

'But now they're getting the love and care that they deserve and have really blossomed and come out of their shells.'

So, the RSPCA is happy to risk the future safety of other pets and children everywhere? Apparently so. And yes, they'll have no trouble finding someone to take on this canine time bomb. 

One of the dogs, eight-year-old bull breed Jane - who was removed from one of the pens in the garage at the Leadleys' home - has been settling into a loving foster home.

Her fosterer Debbie, who now plans to adopt her, said: 'Jane is doing brilliantly and has settled in so well. Her behaviour is fantastic and she loves to go out for walks, and have a good sniff. She just wants to enjoy life and is really chilled.

'She's really chilled out and enjoys snoozing in the sun until she gets too hot, and then she moves into the shade.

'She can be fussy about eating so I've been roasting her chicken and cooking her steak, and she's slowly building up a good appetite. She's certainly very spoiled!'

I hope that thought flashes through your mind when the inevitable happens. 

Those Dreaded Words...

'Poster Girl'. It's a red flag:

The Army’s poster girl for diversity is suing defence chiefs after allegedly suffering a catalogue of racist abuse. Corporal Kerry-Ann Knight, who has fronted Army equality and diversity campaigns, has taken her case to an industrial tribunal. In court documents she accuses senior officers of presiding over an ‘obvious culture of bullying, discrimination, racism and sexism’.

Her claims are understood to be based on her service at the Army Foundation College, where she is an instructor.

Who couldn't see that coming at Army HQ? Hopefully whoever it was doesn't man a front line watch position!

In 2019, she fronted the £1.5 million ‘Your Army Needs You’ recruitment campaign and featured prominently on posters.

In the same year, The Mail on Sunday revealed how she was racially abused by six soldiers while stationed at a UK military base in Germany. Her attackers were disciplined for using offensive words and accusing her of using her skin colour to secure promotions.

The first I could understand, but not the second. Is 'it's the truth' only a defence against libel then, and not anything else? 

Why Do We Still Have A Problem With Dangerous Dogs?

Same reason we still have a problem with knife crime. Soft judges:

A carer whose XL bully puppy mauled a neighbour so badly her flesh was shredded down to the bone put a photo of the dog on her Facebook account two days later with the comment: 'Silly boy.'

Kimberly Wood, 23, posted the 'flippant' caption despite the victim, Kinga Gawron, needing hospital treatment for her 'horrendous' injuries. Eight months later she still doesn't have full use of her arm.

They say a picture tells a story and...dyed hair, nose ring. Living with her parents (is she a carer for them, or members of the public?). Hugely powerful but chav-fashionable dog she can't control. 

Days after the attack, the pet clamped its jaws on the arm of a police officer sent round to assess it, leaving her with minor injuries. It was destroyed the same day.

Strange how the police are able to act quickly when it's them on the recieving end. 

The officer, who was wearing protective leg gear, used a defensive position to protect herself and suffered minor injuries to her arm. After escaping from the dog, she arranged for it to be destroyed immediately. Armed colleagues arrived at the house shortly afterwards and took it to a vet where it was put down.

Why send armed cops and not just have them shoot the thing? 

Wood was yesterday given a four-month jail term, suspended for 18 months after admitting two counts of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control in Ipswich, Suffolk.

Two counts. TWO! And she's only banned from owning a dog for a measly five years! 

The Owners Are Worse Than Their Feral 'Pets'...

A grandmother who was mauled to death by two 'unregistered XL Bullys' in front of her screaming grandson was trying to break up fighting puppies with a broom when she was attacked, it has been claimed.

Even as young animals, this breed loves to do what it was bred for, it seem... 

Esther Martin was visiting her 11-year-old grandson when she was attacked yesterday by the massive animals, reportedly named Beauty and Bear. It is understood the terrified 68-year-old had issued a warning to her tattooed 'son-in-law' Ashley Warren, 39, about the dogs, but the East London wannabe rapper fired back with a foul-mouthed rant: 'No one tells me what to do with my f*****g dogs.'

They certainly don't need to now: 

Six Essex Police officers arrived 'within minutes' and shot dead both dogs inside the home.

Good riddance. The puppies should have been shot as well. Never mind what the neighbours think.

Julie Coleman, 62, and Mike Coleman, 74, said: 'It's horrible. I heard them shoot the dogs. It's so upsetting. I was in tears.'

Mrs Coleman said: “I’m an animal lover and it’s just so upsetting, even with what they have done.

Living next to these things? I'd have been opening some champagne for the cops.  

That Accident North Of The Wall Is No Longer Waiting To Happen...

...it's happened: 

A man is fighting for his life in hospital after being savaged by an 'out-of-control' XL bully-type dog that had attacked another man in the street minutes before.

The man was attacked by the 'bulldog-type' animal in the area of Tinto View, Hamilton, Scotland at around 5pm, prompting Police Scotland to send armed response officers to the scene who subsequently shot the animal dead.

The blood's on your hands as well as the idiot owner, Siobhian, if this turns out to be true:

The Record understands the canine had been rescued from England. Police say inquiries to establish the animal's breed are ongoing.

I've had a quick glance at social media, which is exactly as I suspected, full of smooth-brained 'animal lovers' claiming 'any dog can be savage' and 'it's the owner, not the dog' and 'why did the police not tranquilise it' as they always do in these instances. 

At least the Scottish taxpayer's not on the hook for the mutant mutt's long stay in kennels until a judge finally signs a destruction order so well done, Police Scotland, well done indeed.

Where Did She Get It From, I Wonder?

A mum who thought the family dog - an XL bully - was "lovely" until it attacked her six-year-old son, has urged the government to adopt tighter laws. The mother, who has asked not to be named, lives in Carmarthenshire, West Wales. She has had an XL bully for a couple of months.

Clearly an adult dog, not a puppy. Is this yet another case of rescue charity endangerment?

There was "not a single sign" the dog could act in that way, she told Sky News.

Apart from the breed itself, I guess...

She said her concern now was "what was happening before [she] had her".

Pity that concern didn't come before you brought the mutt into the house.

Before the incident, the woman had been a critic of the UK government's ban on XL bully dogs. "We're like, 'It's nonsense, it's nonsense', until you actually have to pull a 50kg dog off your son and I think then we start thinking," she said.

The dog would now be put to sleep after the incident, the woman confirmed.

At least, unlike other owners, she isn't passing it on to some other dim and unsuspecting family.

I Guess It Didn't Pass, Then?

The attack happened after the large dog, believed to be an Anatolian Shepherd, had a 'little go' at Annabell's grandfather's own German Shepherd.

Both owners quickly moved their dogs away from each other before the Anatolian Shepherd managed to pull away from its owner a few minutes later.

Having broken free the Anatolian Shepherd then pounced on helpless Annabell who was standing just meters away.

In the street? In a friend's garden? No, Reader. At a dog training class... 

A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson, said: 'We were called at about 10.20am on Sunday, 11 June, with reports a girl had been bitten by a dog in Linton Road, Horseheath.

'The eight-year-old girl was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

'A crime has been raised for allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.'

Well, at least the cops are taking it seriously. That's small comfort.  

I Just Can't Blog These Fast Enough...

Another day, yet another death by dog:

A community has been plunged into mourning after a woman died following a dog attack on Friday, June 2. It happened on Kathleen Avenue in Bedworth.

The 'family dog', or so it was claimed. Did police do the right thing when they turned up? Reader...no! 

Officers have now contained and seized the animal to a secure facility, and stress there is no ongoing risk to the wider community.

A 52-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of possession of a banned breed of dog and owning a dog dangerously out of control, according to Warwickshire Police.

Now that's very strange. Normally it takes a while for the cops to come out with 'not on the DDA register' (as if that made a difference!) so something must be odd about this one. 

There's only four breeds on the register. Perhaps it's one of those animals allowed to be kept with license and restrictions?

Superintendent Sutherland Lane said: “This was a tragic isolated incident, and a full investigation is now underway to establish the circumstances surrounding it. Thankfully dog attacks of this nature are exceedingly rare...

Beg to differ, lord copper! Your friendly neighbourhood blogger can't keep up with these reports lately! 

Any clues from the neighbours?

The man, who declined to be named, told how he spoken briefly to the dog owner after he was freed on police bail. Speaking to MailOnline, he said: 'The dog attacked his mum-in-law while she was in the back garden lying on a sun lounger.

'He is very shocked and shaken and said he had no idea why the dog suddenly turned and described it as an awful tragedy.'

'No idea', eh? 

'He was at work at the time so didn't see the attack but [his wife] tried to get the dog off.

'Police say it was a banned breed but I'm not sure. I don't know what it was - quite a size with a big head, a bulldog Mastiff type.

'When he got it he said it was a rare breed and there were only six in the country.

Curiouser and curioser. What would a builder want with such a 'family dog', I wonder? 

'It was kept in the back garden and whenever I saw it being walked which was not very often because he was always busy at work in the building industry it never showed any aggression.

'No one knows why it attacked and killed the poor woman, it could have gone crazy after being stung by a bee orbit (sic) could have had something wrong with its brain. It could be anything.'

Someone had something wrong with their brain, for certain. I just don't think it was the mutt... 

Clearly Not Long And Hard Enough...

Vick Zidko was walking down the stairs in his family home in Doncaster when their dog, which was bought on Facebook just two weeks prior, clamped its jaws on his head.

After five days in hospital Vick had the torn-off piece of scalp reattached - it is now under a large patch on his head.

He was six years old. 

Forklift truck driver Vitalijus told The Mirror the family had thought 'long and hard' about getting a dog and described Diesel as 'really soft' and 'jumping around'.

Not a description I'd expect to hear about what was described as an 'American Staffordshire terrier'... 

Officers are investigating the incident and the dog was destroyed by police.

The parents should be charged with child endangerment. 

As should these parents:

A child who was attacked by a dog in Doncaster has been taken to hospital with "potentially life-changing injuries".

On Thursday, May 11, South Yorkshire Police were called to South Street in Highfields, Doncaster. They had received reports of a child being attacked by a dog.Officers at the scene seized an American Staffordshire terrier breed dog from a property on the street, which was later put down.

Any 'parent' who has one of these things in the house when they have small children doesn't deserve the name...

I Guess It Depends On The Type Of Poster...

During a week-long trial at Liverpool Crown Court, the jury were told how De Meulemeester was a student officer and classed as a basic police driver.

Prosecutor Jonathan Sandiford, KC, told the court that as such she was required to drive in accordance with the Highway Code and are not authorised to use police exemptions such as contravening keep left signs and speeding.

Another triumph for the policy of hiring graduates, I see, Reader... 

Belgian-born De Meulemeester, who achieved her ambition of joining the police in July 2019 after graduating from De Montfort University at Leicester, admitted in court that she had been speeding and driving carelessly.

Following her move to the UK, De Meulemester studied for a degree in criminal investigation and policing before working as a call handler.

So, how did someone so eminently qualified wind up mowing down a teenager? 

Asked by her KC David Temkin why she had been travelling that fast she replied, 'I wasn't aware that was how fast I was going.

'I was just trying to get to the incident. I wasn't paying attention to how fast I was going.'

*sighs* 

Respect? You Don't Know The Meaning Of The Word...

Mr Dunn junior was arrested on suspicion of being the owner of a dog dangerously out of control at 5.50pm that day and told officers: 'My mum's just died, you have no respect.'

She didn't drop down dead of a heart attack, she was mauled to death by one of your dogs..! 

When interviewed he provided a prepared statement in which he denied breeding dogs or having a website advertising dog breeding.

Oh, really? And did the police just accept that? Maybe HMRC should be looking into him instead, at least they seem to have some teeth...

He said all dogs were chipped and registered but refused to provide chip details, the inquest was told.

Well, surely a vet could provide that by scanning the bodies? 

He agreed to sign over the five adult bulldogs to police and they were euthanised, Mr Rebello said.

Anyone else might say 'getting rid of the evidence', eh, Reader..? 

Following advice from the Crown Prosecution Service, no further action was taken against Mr Dunn Junior.

Would that be because it would have raised too many questions about their lack of action over a previous incident, perhaps? 

Mr Rebello recorded a narrative verdict into her death, telling the inquest he did not consider it an accident or misadventure. He added: 'These are very, very powerful animals and the amount of damage caused to Ann is so significant I can't even begin to describe it in court.

'Hopefully people will be aware that dogs of this size are probably not best kept in this number in a domestic setting.'

He said it was not against the law, but 'not everything has to be against the law to be unwise'.

Perhaps it's time it was against the law? 

Following her death, Mrs Dunn's family described her as a 'one in a million mum'.

If only her shitstain of a son was too, but there seems to be a lot more of them walking the streets and breathing the air... 

'I can see it in all your faces, you like this stuff. You like it. You're supporting this.'

Perhaps we need a monument to The Unknown Workman alongside the Cenotaph, because he speaks for us all...

Earlier the force had warned that protesters had moved from Pall Mall to Piccadilly in Westminster where they stopped on the road.

It said: 'The Met is aware of a number of protesters slow walking on the roads. Officers are on scene and attempting to engage. We are carefully monitoring for any disruption and will take action as necessary.'

 Note, they didn't say against whom....

It was part of a number of demonstrations by Just Stop Oil during rush hour yesterday morning, which culminated in a joint march by the group and Extinction Rebellion from Westminster to London headquarters of Shell in Waterloo in the afternoon.

It was the last of four days of protest by XR supporters, but the first day of an 'indefinite campaign' by Just Stop Oil calling for an end to new UK oil and gas projects. The group has called for people to join the slow marches every weekday at 7am and midday on Saturdays.

If the Home Secretary doesn't get the senior officers of the Met Police in for an interview without coffee and get them to start taking proper action, someone is going to be seriously hurt or even killed by someone who has been pushed to the limit by these people, and it'll be entirely on her head...  

Oh, If Only There'd Been Some Signs Of Impending Disaster...

So, the 'oh he collapsed before the dog panicked and attacked' excuse didn't wash at the coroner's inquest: 

Ian Symes, who weighed 7st 12 lbs and was 5ft 10ins, was walking the 'powerful' American Bully XL at a public park in Fareham, Hampshire when it overpowered him, the hearing was told.

The Bully XL - which shares DNA with banned American Pit Bull Terriers - reverted to its 'aggressive' natural instincts and repeatedly bit down on Mr Symes' neck after he began playing with it.

Youngsters saw Mr Symes screaming for help and being mauled to death, it was heard.

God, what a thing to witness. But how could this all go so wrong? 

The 34-year-old had been looking after the seemingly 'soppy and friendly' dog named 'Kong' for a friend, who bought it the day before over Snapchat from travellers without any paperwork.

Oh...  

Kong had been kept in kennels at the travellers site and was dehydrated and being toileted on a balcony when he arrived at Mr Jones' flat.

*blinks* 

Dr d'Sa said a tea-towel found next the dog and Mr Symes' body may have been used for 'ragdoll-like' play, which she said was dangerous. Dr d'Sa said: 'I believe it was a play exercise that got out of hand and turned into predatory behaviour very quickly.'

And yet he was supposedly 'experienced with dogs'. You have to wonder what - specifically - he was experienced in, don't you?  

Dr d'Sa, who was hired by police to work on the case, told the inquest: 'He had an exceptionally large mouth and an exceptionally powerful jaw.

'He was so easily aroused by toys that play quickly became aggressive.

'The difference in what we did and what he did... I had the dog on a rope-chain, the dog had a muzzle, and I had an expert handler and the police there.'

Armed police, I hope, for your sake... 

At the inquest, Kong's owner Mr Jones - 20 at the time - said it was bigger than he expected when he bought it. He said: 'He looked smaller in the pictures, I was quite surprised by how big he was.

'He did pull quite a lot, I did struggle to walk him, I was a bit worried about that.'

This new information makes the decision not to charge this brainless moron even more suspect, doesn't it?

Would That Have Helped?

The hearing also heard that she had not been given enough “control and restraint” training and was not provided with a PPE helmet.

I'm not sure any amount of training would help a 54 year old woman subdue a 28 year old deranged man...

He said that Ms Barwell was not aware of Burke’s previous violent outbursts despite Serco having access to this information.

“No-one told her or gave her any indication that this was a man who could lash out for any reason and that you could not read him or know how he would react and that is certainly what happened here,” Mr Menzies said.

Do you have to inform zookeepers that the tiger they are caring for could lunge at any moment? No, of course not - you're expected to understand it's a dangerous anumal.

There have been reports of a serious incident at a holiday park in Devon overnight which has forced families to leave the site on Christmas Day.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police couldn't discose full details at this stage but could confirm there was an incident and that officers remained at the site this morning.

Hmmm, why so close-mothed? To social media! 

I noticed trouble brewing yesterday (Christmas Eve) afternoon when I walked to the local shop where the store assistant said lads had been in and out stealing. They were very intimidating. Some stolen items even fell out of one lad’s pockets in the shop - but he refused to pay for them.

Some people just do as they likey, don't they..?
