A dog owner will appear in court next week after her Staffie attacked a number of dogs at Withy Grove Park in Bamber Bridge. Kimberley Bond, 51, of Grove Street, Bamber Bridge, was arrested in July and charged with being in charge of ‘a dog dangerously out of control’.

And of course, instead of ending the wothless mutt then and there, it was seized alive to soak up taxpayer cash until the trial, as if it were a vital piece of evidence.... 

The silver female Staffie was seized by Lancashire Police and remains in kennels pending the outcome of its owner’s court case.

And as usual in these cases, the owner had been given a chance to retain her mauler, and didn't: 

The 51-year-old is further charged with failing to comply with a community protection notice in relation to the dog. 

Prior to her arrest, Bond was told she must comply with a number of conditions, including ensuring that her back garden was secure, that the dog was only walked by an adult and that it remained on a 1m lead at all times, whilst wearing a Baskerville muzzle. But according to local reports, the dog continued to escape and menace other dogs in Withy Grove Park - the largest green space in Bamber Bridge and a popular children’s play area.

And so it goes on and on... 

Should You Be Breeding If This Is Your Attitude To Your Babies Health?

Twenty-week-old Grayson easily could have become one of the tens of thousands of British babies left unvaccinated against polio. His mother, Lily, agrees with the principle of immunisation. But overwhelmed by the early weeks of motherhood, and suffering from post-partum depression after a traumatic birth, she was daunted by the prospect of a long journey to a doctor's surgery.

"I've been through the trenches, awake all night. You don't want to leave the house, or go to a different town."

Not even to protest your newborn against fatal disease? I know better than to wonder why the father couldn’t have taken the kid! 

Weeks ticked by, and eventually Grayson missed the polio and diphtheria jabs he was supposed to get at eight weeks old. By that point he was officially classed by the NHS as "overdue" for vaccination; effectively, he was on his GP's naughty list.

Then Lily realised there was a clinic practically on her doorstep - at a location she hadn't expected.That clinic - in Keighley, west Yorkshire - runs from a vacant retail unit at the Airedale shopping centre, a 1960s-era precinct that locals say has fallen on hard times in recent years, with plenty of empty, boarded-up units. The staff who created the clinic thought: why not use one of those vacant units to administer vaccines?

Well, marginally better than a self-immolating vape shop or Turkish barber VAT fraud outlet, I guess....

It's an imaginative solution to a national problem. Over the last 15 years, childhood vaccination rates have fallen across Britain. The share of five-year-olds in England who have received a four-in-one jab (which protects against viruses like polio and tetanus) is now 81%, down from 89% in 2014. About 84% have received both of their recommended MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) jabs, down from 88% a decade ago.

And no, the culprit isn't what you'd expect, either:  

Beccy Baird, a senior fellow at the King's Fund think tank, says that despite colourful media reporting around "anti-vaxxers", most parents who turn down vaccination are not ideologically opposed to it. Convenience plays a big role, she says; vaccination rates are highest when parents regularly interact with medics, who can remind them to get their children jabbed and tell them exactly where to do it.

Then make sure the GP service is there for them to do it, and not ring-fenced by barbed wire and dragon-like receptionists that make it impossible to get an appointment! 

There's Lily, the 18-year-old who finally gets her son Grayson his polio and diphtheria jabs. And there's Keeley, an assistant in a ceramics shop, who arrives with her baby Luca, and is impressed by the clinic's convenience, with no need for an 08:00 phone call or complicated online form.

See? Why aren't the GPs run like this?  

Most of the young mothers have come across online anti-vax posts. "I see these things on Facebook where it's like, don't give your child vaccines because it's got ADHD in them," says Lily. Indeed, Hussain says she still hears parents asking if the MMR jab causes autism, a full 28 years after a link was suggested in a now-discredited paper by the former doctor Andrew Wakefield.

And you'll no doubt hear it until a more convincing arguement for the cause of the rise in the disorder is discoverered. 

The clinic - which serves a relatively poor community - has vaccinated hundreds of infants since 2023, helping to boost coverage in an area that's historically had a low rate of immunisations. As of March this year, 88% of the children registered with Modality AWC (the GP practice that runs the clinic) now receive their first MMR dose by the age of 18 months, up from 78% three years ago.

Is it a 'poor' area in monetary terms, or educational ones?

A 102-year-old great-grandfather with dementia died days after he was allegedly pushed off stage in his local pub after making a noise complaint.

A 56-year-old man from Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm, and remains under investigation.

Another act of midless savagery from the Land of the Dragon Bully Dog... 

Philip is understood to have been visiting the pub for a drink when he went onto a stage in the venue to complain about the volume of the music.

Robert said: "He just asked them to turn the music down." He said his father turned around to come back down off the stage when he was pushed, and that resulted in a broken hip."[That's] the most upsetting part. He wasn't going to live forever but it's not a nice way, obviously in pain," he said. "We want to see justice, of course. "They must have known he was an old man. It makes you wonder what the world is coming to."

Det Ch Insp Shelley Comley, senior investigating officer for Gwent Police, said: "We understand the public interest in this incident but want to remind people that, not only is this an active criminal investigation, but there is a family at the heart of it processing the loss of a loved one." She urged people to "consider the impact that inaccurate or speculative comments" including "online commentary" could have.

He Could Have Changed Someone Else's Life In 'The Blink Of An Eye'

An 18-year-old man who died in a tragic motorbike crash in Brentwood has been named and pictured for the first time.

A GoFundMe has now been arranged for the victim's family, naming him as Jay Barrow.

A statement accompanying the fundraiser says that the lives of Jay's family "changed forever" in the blink of an eye.

I'm guessing it's only by the grace of god that some other, totally innocent poor sod's life wasn't changed.. and I used to think chavshrines were the worst aspect of these stories, but in 2026, there’s an even worst aspect.

It is understood that donations raised by the page will go towards easing any financial burden on the family to allow them to grieve.

Despite ruling it a 'single vehicle collision' police are keen to trace the driver of a small blue convertible seen driving in the area at the time. I wonder why, when they could just close this with ‘young man, powerful machine, shit happens’?

Pick A Better Excuse...

Those lefty do-gooders who decry the 'Joint enterprise' legislation are going to have a hard time with this one:

The prosecution says while only one person stabbed Mr Shepherd, the jury should find them guilty of murder via joint enterprise.

'One person may have delivered the fatal blows but the prosecution case is the three are jointly liable as they were acting together in a joint attack,' she said.

Is there any evidence they were all in it together? Yes, it's all on camera!

'He was reaching for [the knife]. He was going to use it on Joe, Harrison, or me, or all of us,' he said.

Then why didn't you run away, instead of towards him? 

O'Keeffe told jurors the victim's dog was 'being very aggressive', that the pet was 'snarling and barking', and as such, he believed the pet would bite him.

Then why did you incapacitate the man holding the lead that held it under control? 

The trial continues.

I hope the lunches are good there. I can't think what else is keeping the jury from rendering the verdict right now!

It can only be the identity of the driver, since the story itself holds many clues on why it happened:

Jacob Calland was riding an e-scooter with a friend before it collided with a car in Wythenshawe, Manchester, back in March.

Carly described her son as "very loving, headstrong, and a cheeky chappy".

In conversations with Jacob, the mum said she had warned him not to get on e-bikes or electric scooters, because "he didn't have road sense on his feet never mind on something as powerful as these things".

 Another hallmark of the modern teenager, the lack of concept of personal danger. So there's very little mystery here, I feel as if this is a story I've read time and again. Of course, it wouldn't be a modern tale of woe without a demand for someone else to DO SOMETHING! And so, right on cue:

Carly has now called for stricter regulations and safety measures for e-scooters and said "if I can save one life it is going to be worth it".

 Not if its the sort of life this waste of oxygen was living...

Alongside her calls for e-scooter licences and a ban on their sale to children, Carly wants to see more safety equipment on the vehicles. She said: "When we get in a car we have to wear a seat belt. Why when they get on the e-scooters do they just get to go on them with no helmets [and] no safety equipment?"

This little shit clearly ignored all the existing legislation governing these machines, what good would even more have done?

Carly also wants stricter punishments for those breaching e-scooter laws. The heartbroken mum said: "You think it is never going to be you. I thought the same. I never thought that my son was going to die on an e-scooter.

It would appear you never thought, full stop. And you appear to have passed that trait on to your offspring. 

The Emergency Services Need The Ability To Blacklist People...

A drunk mother-of-five scratched the inside of a police officer's mouth causing blood to drip down her cheek.

Not just on the one occasion - this fragile flower of femininity makes a career out of it: 

She became aggressive with officers again on January 1, while she was still on bail. She spat at them and hit at least one in the face and another in the chest.

Brooks, of Medway Road in Sheerness, now has 13 convictions for attacks on emergency workers.She also admitted eight other offences in January this year in relation to the incident on New Year’s Day. They were three counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker, three counts of criminal damage, common assault on an emergency worker and one count of threatening behaviour.

So, if you were a visitor to this planet fresh out of the UFO and about to say ‘Take me to your leader’ you’d assume the justice system would crack down hard on this scofflaw this time. But no…. 

Magistrates also heard from a probation officer who interviewed Brooks who said the offences in 2023 happened after she’d been drinking a lot at the party and that she’d been upset as an ex-partner had tried to kill himself.

She also said Brooks had five children and two grandchildren and had borderline personality disorder and depression. She also had a disabled child to look after.

None of those things should be prompting leniency- in fact, rather than mitigation, they should all be classed as aggravating aspects. 

The Chairman of the bench said: “Ms Brooks, you have a shocking record. Thirteen assaults on an emergency workers? Shocking is an understatement and we feel the offences do pass the custody threshold, but can be suspended.

Why? And just because it can, why should it? 

"If you come before the courts again in that time, you will probably go to prison. Spitting at police is just absolutely awful.”

Why would she believe those, when nothing she’s done so far has resulted in jail time? The magistrate’s not fooling her, or me!

Not A Tough One For The Jury...

Hope Rowe, 33, from Aldgate, launched the deadly attack on Charlotte Lawlor, 31, at 1am at a property in Stepney Green, east London, September 15 with a knife used to cut a cake. Mother-of-two Rowe hid the blade in her handbag before knifing Ms Lawlor in the chest and she continued to stab at her as she lay dying in a pool of blood.

Rowe denied but was convicted of murder by a jury at Inner London Crown Court and Judge Freya Newberry sentenced her to 22 years in prison.

No pussy pass for you. Hope! Probably due to the nature of the attack. 

Ms Lawlor, who 'just wanted to go home' during the confrontation, was leaving the property to get a taxi home when Rowe leaned around her 'MMA-expert' boyfriend Leigh Holder, 37, and stabbed her in the chest - footage of which was played in court. Jurors saw doorbell camera footage and CCTV from a bus showing Rowe's movements after she fled the party.

She admitted manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility due to her mental health condition and loss of control.

But for once the CPS wasn't buying that. 

Her boyfriend, who has a distinct rose tattoo on his neck, was convicted of perverting the course of justice by driving Ms Rowe away from the scene and helping get rid of the knife which has never been recovered.

Lovely! 

In a statement, the victim's parents said: 'We are happy with the verdict.. We would like to thank the jury for their attention during the trial.'

Better do it fast, then, because if Labour get there way, we might not have them much longer. 

Because You're Not Laying Down The Law, Your Honour....

In fact, you're letting them off lightly.

...during sentencing this week, District Judge Stephen Apted found himself pausing proceedings and telling the couple off for laughing as a summary of their offending was read out in court.

He said he could not understand why the couple found their court appearance amusing and were seen laughing and shaking their heads.

'You fail to understand and appreciate how appalling and disgraceful your behaviour was,' he told them, The Telegraph reported.

Because they are receiving no proper punishment for it. At leaset we have the 'Mail' to tell us how much their house is worth, though: 

The couple - who live in a house worth more than £800,000 just a mile from the pub - faced charges of racially or religiously aggravated harassment and assault, which they denied, claiming self defence.

A likely story.  

Mr Sayer was handed a fine of £1,204, while Mrs Sayer was fined £1,554. The couple must also complete 15 sessions of rehabilitation activities and 150 hours of unpaid work.

Pathetic. No wonder they weren't cowed by the awesome majesty of the justice system... 

Alphonsus Doran, Mrs Sayer’s defence lawyer, said the couple had been 'effectively ostracised' since the incident. Mrs Sayer has lost her job, while Mr Sayer reported a 'massive impact' on his business.

Good. Maybe that will teach them the lesson they deserve.  

Want To Kill Someone And Guarantee A Lenient Sentence, But Can't Drive?

Don't despair! Just get a fighting breed dog! 

The owner of an XL bully dog which chased and killed a man has been jailed for three years. Ian Langley, 54, was mauled in Shiney Row, near Sunderland, on 3 October 2023, and died in hospital from "catastrophic" neck injuries.

No, it didn't do so off its own initiative. It was set on the victim:

Shortly before 19:00 BST on 3 October 2023, Mr Langley, who came from Liverpool and was known in the area as "Scouse", threw a stone at Bell's Maple Terrace home and smashed a window, prosecutor Jolyon Perks said.

Bell ran out of the house and chased Mr Langley and his XL bully dogs Titan and Sapphire followed through the open front door, Mr Perks said.

Titan overtook Bell and, after about 330ft (100m), dragged Mr Langley to the floor and clamped its jaws around Mr Langley's neck, the court heard.

If he'd run out of his kitchen with a knife and cut the man's throat, or with his car keys and run the victim down, would he have got such a paltry sentence? 

Given he has 32 convictions for 69 offences on his record, shouldn't that count towards him being banged up for longer? 

The dog "firmly resisted" all attempts to pull it away, Mr Perks said, and Mr Langley suffered "catastrophic injuries". Bell was eventually able to remove Titan and took him home before returning to Mr Langley's side and calling 999.

Armed police killed Titan at the scene, with Sapphire also later put down, the court heard. When officers arrived, Bell, now of De La Pole Avenue in Hull, told them to "just kill" the dogs, Mr Perks said.

It's great when the police dispose of the murder weapon for you aheead of a trial, isn't it?

The court heard Titan had savaged the leg of a Yorkshire terrier after escaping from Bell's home in July 2022, with Bell asking people for a lighter so he could try and burn his pet's nose to get it to release the other dog. In June 2023, both Titan and Sapphire got out and attacked another dog for up to 10 minutes, with the ordeal ending after Bell threw water over them.

And of course, because it was considered just 'dog on dog' and not an indicator of future issues, nothing was done. What a pity Mr Bell's grieving relatives can't sue the police for that. 

Bell was was also disqualified from having custody of a dog indefinitely.

Which might mean something, if only there was any mechanism in place to check.  

With Neighbours Like These, You Probably Should Expect It Any Day...

A teenage boy fled from his home screaming 'he's stabbed me' in a Christmas Day horror that left two women dead and another man hurt.

No, not inner London.  

Officers were called to a block of flats on Santa Cruz Avenue in Bletchley near Milton Keynes by residents after they heard screams and saw the teenager covered in blood run outside calling for help. One local told MailOnline: 'I heard screaming and shouting looked outside and the boy was outside saying ''he's stabbed me''. He was covered in blood and had wounds to his chest and head.

'There was a woman on the balcony screaming for help and saying she couldn't breathe and then the guy who did it ran out of the flats, got into his car and drove off but police were there within seconds and we told them where to go and he was caught.'

Another neighbour showed MailOnline CCTV footage of what looked like a white pit-bull limping away covered in blood and police later said the dog was taken to a vet but did not survive.

Block of flats, differing generations living together with unassociated people, family 'pet' is a pitbull and murderer's name not the same as anyone living there..? Yeah, the only surprise is this isn't a trailer park.  

He added:'It's not what you expect around here, it's pretty quiet and not what you expect on Christmas Day of all days. It's really knocked everyone because it is so quiet around here.'

I expect it was before people like this moved in, yes. But now they have, the place has gone to hell.  

Doesn’t Appear The Laundry Detergent Was for Personal Use…

Kyle Sherwin, 38, was arrested in April 2024 after officers in the Stanford-le-Hope town centre team mounted a plain clothes operation to stop him. Investigating officer PC Matthew O’Shea says Operation Charge was set up to target shoplifters and other prolific offenders in the town. He said: “We identified patterns in Sherwin’s behaviour and then it was a case of being in the right place at the right time. He was arrested within 15 minutes of us starting the operation.”

Well done, Matthew. Not exactly on a par with snaring the Brinks-Mat gang, though... 

Sherwin, of Dowland Close, Stanford-le-Hope, had admitted at an earlier hearing to stealing a total of £636.70 of meat, cheese and laundry detergent from the Co-op in Stanford le Hope High Street on seven occasions between April 15 and 28 this year.

Assuming the meat and cheese was to sell (who'd buy it? even from someone who looks familar with soap and water?) but laundry detergent? That's a new one on me! 

While in custody, the court heard, Sherwin also failed to comply with a requirement under Essex Police's drug test on arrest scheme to be tested for cocaine, heroin and crack cocaine.

Should probably have been tested for scabies too.... 

Do You Believe In Fairies And Unicorns Too, Judge Williams?

Chantelle Bennett, 32, confronted Baljinder Singh in Kings Lane, Newport, when her victim was on his way to work last September. Mr Singh and Ericka Bailey had been walking when they encountered the defendant who refused to leave them pass.He was punched to the left cheek by Bennett who then asked him to fight her before she used an offensive racist term to abuse him.

Bennett, of Itchen Close, Newport, was found guilty in her absence of racially aggravated common assault at the city’s magistrates’ court.This put her in breach of a suspended prison sentence for a hammer attack on a man in Newport city centre in 2019. She also pleaded guilty to two counts of failing to surrender. Bennett has 21 previous convictions for 38 offences which include wounding and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Neil Evans, representing the defendant, said in mitigation that although the use of one racist word was completely unacceptable “it wasn’t a volley of profanities”. The court was told Bennett was working to deal with mental health problems and was a carer for her partner.

'Partner' there being 'in crime'...? What a lovely pair! 

Judge Richard Williams told Bennett: “You confronted, pushed and punched the complainant before you racially abused him and challenged him to fight you.” He said he was able to suspend her prison sentence because he believed she was capable of being rehabilitated.

I'm in danger of rolling my eyes so hard they fall out of my head at this point... 

Two women attacked a man with a hammer and a glass bottle after he was bitten by their dog in Newport city centre. Rebecca Tantrum, 28 (Ed: some nominative determinism there...), and her partner Chantelle Bennett, 30, attacked Paul Sutton in Commercial Street on July 5 last year after their dog approached the victim and his partner Louise Elliott who had been out walking their pug.

The judge said he would have sent both defendants straight to prison had it not been for the delay in the case, which had not been their fault. He said: "This case highlights how the court's hands are tied. Cases like these are taking far too long to get to the doors of the court." Tantrum was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment suspended for 12 months and Bennett was sentenced to 10 months imprisonment suspended for 12 months.

Could she stay out of trouble? Reader, no. Not a chance.  

A Newport woman has appeared before the city’s magistrates’ court to plead guilty to keeping five XL Bully dogs.

Yup, guess who!

Chantelle Bennett, 34, of Sandpiper Way, Duffryn admitted possessing/having custody of a fighting dog. The animals are called Daenerys, Prime, Bumblebee, Duster and Violet. Bennett committed the offences on April 23.

Contingent destruction orders were made for the dogs unless they are kept under proper control.

Who thinks that chavs who can't keep themselves under control can do so with five maulers?

When her week-long trip to Cancun was coming to an end, Ms Hall claimed the men asked her to take two suitcases back with her, which they said contained $250,000 in cash.

'I agreed to it because there was no reason not to. It was just money and I didn't see anything wrong in it,' she said.

If there was 'nothing wrong in it' they'd do it themselves, not recruit some gormless bird! She doesn't even realise she's admitted intending to smuggle here, albeit got the substance wrong...

Her father John Hall, 59, previously defended his daughter, saying all she is guilty of is 'stupidity and naivety'.

That's all that's needed in a smuggler. Is the whole family stupid?

Why Do They Love The Dangerous Breeds?

Police were searching Jade Hubbard’s house in Gregory Street in Sudbury for the suspect of another crime when her dog bit one of the officers on the arm. The defendant, 36, was “obnoxious, abusive and obstructive”, Judge Martyn Levett said, and she refused to tell police where the suspect was - but they found him hiding in a cupboard.

The dog is to be destroyed, and an order was made for Hubbard to be disqualified from owning a dog.

Sadly, they can't disqualify her from associating with criminals. And it's a toss up who was more of a dangerous breed anyway: 

Hubbard was also sentenced for a “devastating” assault on another woman in Sudbury.

Judge Levett said Hubbard screamed “do you want me to rip your nose off?” and then bit the victim’s left arm and would not let go.

Perhaps she should be taking that final trip to the vets too? 

Hubbard previously admitted all the offences and the court heard she has a very extensive history of criminality. Judge Levett described her 113 previous convictions as “record breaking” and added this was her 56th court appearance.

“I know of no other case where the courts have passed every conceivable sentence but nothing seems to stop you from reoffending," said Judge Levett. For the dog attack, Hubbard received an eight-month jail sentence and for the assault she received a consecutive 16-month sentence.

Well, I'm sure that'll sort her out...

It Should Be Automatic...

The court heard that Perry, of Shirley House Drive in Charlton, has two previous convictions including one for a serious assault in 2020.

Her dog has been in kennels since it was seized at the cost of £1,600, the court heard.

Perry cried in the dock as prosecutor Mr Kalber said: “We are seeking a full destruction order for this dog.”

Why is it not automatic in cases like this? And why should the taxpayer not be compensated even if it's at £1 a week and the guilty party is on benefits (as thry so often are)? 

The case was adjourned until November for sentencing, at which time the court will also decide whether the dog should be destroyed.

Why is there any question? And why are the most recents cases often women with these mutts?

'Red Flag? OK, Here's Our White Flag...'

The trial of Deveca Rose has started, and throws new light on why four children died in a burning house:

...social services had been working with the family but closed the case after Rose failed to co-operate, jurors have heard.

Damn, that's it? Must try that at work: 'Sorry boss, it's getting a bit tricky to do this task, can I just skip it?' 

Darren Woodhams, a fire investigator for the London Fire Brigade, found the fire started from a either a discarded cigarette or an upturned tea light, which set fire to rubbish on the floor and then a sofa in the living room. The fire spread due to the amount of rubbish on the floor, the court heard. Jurors were shown photographs of the floor of the living room which was covered in rubbish 20cm deep and littered with human excrement.

And children were living in it. While social workers washed their hands of responsibility. In any normal world, the state of the house and the refusal to co-operate should have been grounds for more action, not less.

Giving evidence to the jury today, Mr Woodhams said: 'There was a smoke detector on the first floor landing however this was found to be inoperable and had no battery.'

Rose is not in court as she has an issue with her eyes and is observing the trial via a link from a room with lower lighting.

Once again, the inversion of the justice system, treating the alleged perpetrator as a victim. 

More Proof They Are As Feral As Their 'Pets'...

...although the dogs are probably smarter: 

A woman made death threats to a judge after he ordered the destruction of her dangerous dogs just days after Liverpool's top judge revealed he had received threats following the recent sentencing of people involved in the violent disorder across Merseyside. Melissa Thorp, 50, took to TikTok to post drunken ramblings inciting violence against York Crown Court judge Simon Hickey and a police officer.

Nor is that even the most shocking thing:

The mum-of-one was jailed for two years at Leeds Crown Court.

Looking at the picture, the first thing that comes to mind is 'mum of one what?'

The general assistant of a cemetery (sic) was incensed by the destruction of her pet Blu and later deleted the posts once she "sobered up", the court was told, but the videos had already been viewed by several people who reported it to police. She was arrested and charged with sending communication threatening death or serious harm. She admitted the offence, which put her in breach of a suspended prison sentence for the original offences of being the owner in charge of a dangerous dog.

You may wonder why someone with her history got a suspended sentence in the first place: 

Thorp has convictions for 21 offences on a criminal record dating back over 30 years, the court heard. They include a previous malicious-communications offence, attempted robbery, carrying an offensive weapon, affray, threatening behaviour and criminal damage.

Just more evidence, if it were needed, of the sort of people who want to own dogs like these. 

Complicated Lives...

The family of a woman and her three children who were killed in a house fire in Bradford have spoken of their “profound loss”. Bryonie Gawith, 29, died along with Denisty, nine, Oscar, five, and 22-month-old Aubree after a fire at their home at about 2am on Wednesday.

Wow, those are some impressive chavnames there. Or the mother can't spell. Is this another case of the sire deciding to rid himself of his future child support obligations? 

Gawith was estranged from Birtle, with the 34-year-old on remand in custody after being charged with strangling the mother-of-three and stealing her phone at her home on 27 July. The 34-year-old has previously indicated that he would plead not guilty to the offences. He is next due to appear in court on Tuesday. Birtle is not being treated as a suspect in the house fire.

Oh! That's unusual. Who is the suspect then? 

West Yorkshire police said the incident on Wednesday is believed to be “domestic related” and confirmed a 39-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder is in a critical condition in hospital. He is the ex-partner of a woman who was visiting the family.

Well, She'd Made A Deliberate Decision To Ignore The Rules Of Society, So...

Sentencing Wade, whose criminal record includes 137 previous offences, Recorder Taryn Turner said her riding had led to “tragic” consequences for the victim. She said: “You shouldn’t have been on the pavement and your bike should have been mechanically sound, but it wasn’t."

“I’m quite satisfied you made a deliberate decision to ignore the rules of the road and had a total disregard for the risk that your riding of this bike presented, which was obviously highly dangerous," the recorder added.

Not some Lycra-clad lout on an expensive mountain bike this time, just the usual underclass with a record as long as her arm who has never been deterred by any of her numerous other convictions... 

Prosecutor Laura McBride said Wade had been “highly impaired by alcohol” at the time of the crash. She was also said to be steering with only one hand as she was carrying a bag of dog food with her other hand. A police officer who inspected her bike after the crash confirmed it had no working brakes.

And won't be deterred by this one, either.
