This Is No Way To Shed The 'Two Tier' Shame...

I'm beginning to think the Met Police's PR team contains some saboteurs:

The Metropolitan Police will not investigate the harassment of national treasure Dame Helen Mirren by a pro-Palestine activist, according to reports. The Oscar-winning actress, 80, was called an 'evil Zionist b****' by Corbynista Tom Carroll as she walked along the street in London with her husband, Taylor Hackford. 

Scotland Yard initially treated last year's incident as a possible hate crime, but have since decided not to proceed with the investigation.

 Why? 

It is understood the decision was taken after officers spoke to Dame Helen, who has long been outspoken in her support for Israel.

I feel they are trying to imply that she doesn't want the fuss, but they should say that if so. Or remind themselves that this is the UK and people don't have to 'press charges' here and do the job they are paid to do... 

Especially when the perp is a known danger to women:

In 2018, Carroll was wanted in connection with a brutal assault on an 84-year-old woman at Shoreditch High Street station in east London whilst he was on his way from a violent far-Left protest. Five years later he handed himself in to police in 2023 where he pleaded not guilty but was sentenced to 12 months' probation & 200 hours' community service for the lesser crime of threatening behaviour.

So, he got let off, and I could understand the police's frustration with that, but it's not a reason not to do their part. 

 

Well, If They Had Just Executed More In The Past, They Might Not Be Forced To Do This Now

Israel's parliament has approved a law that would make the death penalty the default sentence for Palestinians convicted of deadly terror attacks.

And the useful idiots are up in arms. 

Critics, including UN human rights chief Volker Türk, have described the new law as discriminatory. Türk also said its application would "constitute a war crime".

In theory, Jewish Israelis could also be executed under the law - but in practice this almost certainly would not happen, as the death penalty could only be carried out where the intention of the attack was to "negate the existence of the state of Israel".

Well, there's plenty of liberal self-hating Jews, but they mostly operate from the US and Europe...

The Palestinian Authority, which administers the West Bank, condemned the law, saying it "seeks to legitimise extrajudicial killing under legislative cover".

Israel has only executed two people in its history - one of them the infamous Nazi official Adolf Eichmann, who played an important role in perpetrating the Holocaust.

Past time they started again, then! 

Now I'm Even More Eager To See It Open...

Pro-Palestine vandals daubed the words 'Free Gaza' and threw red paint over a newly opened branch of Gail's, as activists accused the bakery chain of 'funding Israel'.

I will spend SO MUCH here...

I've been eagerly waiting  this branch's opening day to open in Stratford where I work, as I love the one in Wanstead (the cheese & chive scones are better than I can make myself!) and the news I'll be sticking it to the mad Paeleostinian supporters will make the lunchtime coffee and cake even sweeter!

Gail's has previously faced accusations of being Israel-owned or backing Israel's 'war machine'. The chain was founded as a wholesaler in the 1990s by Israeli baker Gail Mejia and was rapidly expanded by Israeli entrepreneur Ran Avidan from 2005 - but both are no longer linked to the business. It is today owned by Pizza Express entrepreneur Luke Johnson and American investment firm Bain Capital. Bain was among 500 other venture capital firms that signed a letter in support of Israel following the Hamas terrorist attacks on October 7, 2023, and it has investments in Israel, including in AI, cybersecurity and software companies.

Not that that will matter to the insane people in this activist group domestic terrorist group one little bit!  

A spokesperson told The Guardian in 2024: 'Gail's is a UK-based business with no specific connections to any country or government outside of the UK and does not fund Israel.'

Shame.

They Just Aren’t Like Us

On the morning of 7 October 2023, the author of the Guardian’s Gaza diary woke up planning to play tennis. “This year I decided to take care of my mental and physical health,” he wrote in his first entry, published six days later. “This means no stress, no negative energy and definitely more tennis.” Instead, with the news full of how Hamas had broken out of the territory, killing 1,200 people, he found himself scrambling desperately for the documents showing he owned his apartment in Gaza City, in the north of the strip. “If our building gets bombed, I need evidence that this apartment belongs to me,” he wrote.

Imagine the stunning narcissism and hatred for a race of people that causes you, on hearing your country has carried out an atrocity, to immediately switch to worrying what effect the inevitable repercussions will have on you personally?

On 13 October, Gaza City’s residents were told to evacuate and head south. “It feels like 1948,” the diarist wrote, a reference to the Nakba (“catastrophe”), when 700,000 Palestinians were expelled from a newly independent Israel.

His diaries were full of questions. “Is the abnormal going to become the normal? Is two weeks of misery all it takes?”

Misery for the Palestinians, he means. Of course. The misery of the Israelis mourning their murdered relatives and the hostages means nothing. 

A gentle man, he looks back at what he wrote at that time and says: “I see all these questions I was asking. I had no answers back then. Now I’ve seen how it turned out. And it was horrible.”

Good. Israel would have been entitled to drop a nuke on the wretched place. 

He’s in his 30s, and one of Gaza’s intellectuals: middle-class Palestinians are known for their education throughout the Middle East.

And this is why unless Israel does indeed end it all with a nuke, it will go on and on. Or this wretched 'country' will be feted by idiots in positions of power in the West in order to appease their imported populations. If this is considered an 'intellectual' one can only imagine what the man in the street is like. 

You Spelled ‘Hamas’ Wrong, ‘Guardian’

Hamas can stop this horror. They can release any of the hostages that are still alive and lay down their weapons.

The international court of justice ruled in January last year that there was a “plausible risk” of genocide. Amnesty International, a UN special committee and leading scholars, including within Israel, have concluded that genocide is taking place.

And you're angry about it because its the 'wrong' side? 

Openly envisioning the total destruction of Gaza, pursuing the removal of its population as a goal rather than a battlefield consequence, and destroying the means by which life is sustained, looks not merely like brutality but a deliberate project of elimination.

I wonder why the rest of the Muslim world isn't making as much of a fuss about it as the white progressives? Or offering safe refuge?

Egypt and Jordan have refused to accept refugees, saying that they would otherwise be complicit in war crimes.

Oh, never mind. I just remembered why they aren't doing that...

I Don't Think You'd Be Able To Find A Single Person Genuinely Shocked By This...

Horrified onlookers react in shock as they call out to the cops - asking why they have not taken action as they let him walk away up the street.

Sussex Police has since revealed it is hunting for the man as the incident is being investigated as a hate crime.

Well, you wouldn't need to 'hunt for him' if your officers had arrested him then and there. As the public suggested at the time... 

Accosting one of the liaison officers, the clearly distressed man behind the camera says: 'He's just done a Nazi salute in front of you, you saw that! 'He just did a Nazi salute, goosestepping, a Nazi salute and you did nothing! How dare you!'

Another police liaison officer repeats that she is trying to see where the man has gone and that she is 'trying to assess where he is'.

The filmer replies: 'Why did you not stop him there and then? You let him walk past until I made a fuss. How dare you?'

Another protester, in the background, can be heard adding: 'Someone could have just grabbed hold of him, he was an old guy!'

Sussex Police will undoubtedly fall back on the 'That wasn't her role!' excuse: 

Police liaison officers attend marches and protests to identify and differentiate individuals and groups who may become involved in or encourage disorder or violence or increase levels of tension. They must also provide commanders with 'fast time' updates to enable informed and proportionate decision making, according to the College of policing. Officers are also responsible for sensing the mood and intent of groups and crowd members.

Not, you'll note, actually doing anything about it when it happens right in front of them. Maybe that's the real issue here? 

We Can All Answer That, Ahmed…

It's pretty simple, isn't it? Release the hostages and lay down arms, give up the objective of driving every Israeli out of Israel..?

I am terrified for my family. I am terrified for all Palestinians. I am terrified for humanity, because if we allow this to continue, if we stand by and watch as an entire people are destroyed, then what hope do we have?

The irony of a Palestinian activist crying about an entire people being destroyed shouldn't be lost on any scholar of modern day Islamic terrorism. 

You’re Spot On With That Description…

“The Nuseirat market is always crowded, but now more than usual because of the many displaced people,” said Haroun, 29, who is now staying with an uncle. She was looking at outfits for the girls when the first Israeli airstrikes hit, and almost without thinking raced out of the door to go to them. Outside, she found a scene “like the horrors of judgment day”, as panicked crowds tried to escape the coming onslaught.

Yes, it was indeed like judgement day. Which is when the evildoers face consequences.  

El-Nemer, a 37-year-old software engineer originally from northern Gaza, was among the crush of people trying to escape.“I was jogging along the street with other women. We were terrified,” she said. They ran past health clinics and schools where they might once have sought shelter, but now shunned because of Israeli attacks on both types of compound.

And why do they? Because that's where the terrorists are hiding.  

They would not discover for hours that the intense attack was launched to support Israeli special forces on a mission to free four hostages held in apartments near the market. Gaza’s health ministry said more than 270 Palestinians were killed and more than 600 injured in the assault.

I note they don't say 'civilians', this time. Because who was holding these hostages? People like this, drs and journalists. 

The hours of bombardment were ordered at least in part to shield the hostages and Israeli forces, and the attacks intensified after a rescue vehicle carrying the three male hostages was trapped under heavy fire, Israeli media reported.

Under heavy fire from the so-called 'civilians'. 

Abu Youssef, 42, said even living beside the hospital had not protected his family from an airstrike that hit directly next to their home. He had lost his three other children earlier in the war, and doctors said his last son had little chance of survival. “Everyone in my family and my brothers’ families was either killed or injured. Three of my nieces died so far; my sister is still fighting for her life,” he said. “My house is near al-Awda hospital,” he said. “Although it is hundreds of metres away from the building they targeted, there were a lot of airstrikes and all kinds of attacks in the area to cover up their cowardly operation.”

You see the mentality of these people? It's fine and dandy to attack civilians at a music festival and take hostages, but when the other side comes to rescue them, that's 'cowardly'. There's no negotiating with people like this.  

It's Not The Children They Are Worrying About...

The petition goes on to allege that Prevent is racist and Islamophobic, stating: ‘Muslim parents are worried that a child’s innocent comment [on Gaza] could lead to them being hauled before Prevent.

‘Many have demonstrated their support and sympathy for the Palestinian people, but are fearful of the consequences.’

...it's what will happen when it's realised that the children are merely parroting what they are hearing at home. Or in the mosque. 

Why they should worry about any consequences is the big mystery because sadly, there never are any for this wretched backward cult.

Security was tightened around the Tower Hamlets civic centre in preparation for the hearing last night. Entitled ‘Defend Free Speech and Democracy’, it was handed to the borough’s mayor Lutfur Rahman and the council’s cabinet.

And there's a clear example of the lack of consequences - this man's history should have ensured he was never re-elected.

One local councillor expressed fears about the petition and its timing. They warned it might inflame an already tense situation in the borough over the Gaza-Israeli conflict and anti-Semitic feeling.

I'm not sure, at this stage, that that's even possible... 

It's Just A Deli, Jay...

When I first came across Freddie’s I was excited. For all my lack of faith or observance these dishes, kept alive by a vestigial memory of the shtetl, root me. Then I hesitated. Could I really write about a Jewish restaurant given the current political turmoil? Would I get abuse for doing so? Surely better to keep shtum.

Good grief, you're a food reviewer. This is a new food outlet (and the dishes look amazing) so why wouldn't you want to review it? 

At which point I knew I had no choice: I had to write about it. The horrendous campaign of the government and armed forces of Israel in Gaza cannot be allowed to make being Jewish a source of shame.

And why are they doing what they are doing?  

When Hamas mounted their 7 October attack on Israel, they committed both an atrocity and a provocation.

Ah, so you are aware of the cause for their action.  

With so many hostages taken, there were no good options for the Israeli government. Nevertheless, they managed to choose the very worst one.

Gosh, how sad they never thought to seek the opinion of the 'Guardian's' corpulent food reviewer, I'm sure you'd have steered them better...  

Funny how you don't say what they should have done instead.

They have killed thousands, starved many more, destroyed homes and turned their country into a pariah.

It's not a pariah at all, It's the only country in the Middle East that's not a complete basket case. The only country I'd feel safe to visit.  

As it happens, they have also made life for Jews who live outside Israel and have no responsibility for the decisions its government takes, so very much harder.

I deplore what Israel is doing.

No, Jay, sadly we have done that, the UK, by not clamping down at the first signs of what a fifth column we've been stupid to invite into our country believes and wants. And that is something I feel shame about.  

Oh Dear How Sad Never Mind...

The head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees has said he followed “reverse due process” in sacking nine staff members accused by Israel of being involved in Hamas’s 7 October attacks.

Philippe Lazzarini, UNRWA’s commissioner general, said he did not probe Israel’s claims against the employees before dismissing them and launching an investigation. At a press conference in Jerusalem, Lazzarini was asked if he had looked into whether there was any evidence against the employees and he replied: “No, the investigation is going on now.” He described the decision as “reverse due process”, adding: “I could have suspended them, but I have fired them. And now I have an investigation, and if the investigation tells us that this was wrong, in that case at the UN we will take a decision on how to properly compensate [them].”

But we should totally trust the UN on everything else, right? 

“Indeed, I have terminated without due process because I felt at the time that not only the reputation but the ability of the entire agency to continue to operate and deliver critical humanitarian assistance was at stake if I did not take such a decision,” he said.

How's that reputation looking now? 

Shouldn’t Be A Surprise…

A London surgeon has described witnessing a “massacre unfold” during 43 days spent under bombardment in Gaza, saying the destruction of the Palestinian health system was a military objective of the war.

Turns out the description 'London surgeon' is working a little too hard here... 

“Having seen this massacre unfold, the creation of an uninhabitable Gaza Strip was the aim and the destruction of all the components of modern life at which the health system lies was the main military objective,” said Abu-Sittah, who has a practice in west London and has worked in Gaza since 2009, as well as in wars across Yemen, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon.

He clearly fancies himself a military strategist too…

When asked about Israel’s claims of being at war with Hamas and its denial of targeting civilians in Gaza, he said: “Statistically, it appears that the numbers tell a different story.”

Any numbers coming out of Hamas are 'telling a story', alright!

Since leaving Gaza 10 days ago, Abu-Sittah said he felt an overwhelming sense of guilt for those left behind. “My fear is even those who are steadfast enough to stay will eventually leave on their own and we will have what the Israelis want, which is another 1948,” he said.

“This war is the continuation of the 1948 Nakba.”

Not such an overwhelming feeling he opted to stay, one notes…
