David Rix, mitigating, said Burgess had behaved stupidly and badly.
Mr Rix said: "He's had a pretty wretched life and a pretty torrid time. He regards society as largely against him."Now, why would society be against the poor chap who…
Ah. Right.
Rebecca Dolby, prosecuting, told North Lincolnshire magistrates that Miss Blackburn was shopping at Iceland, in Scunthorpe town centre, when she accidentally bumped into Burgess with her basket.
He started shouting and swearing, kicked her on the back of her leg and swung a loaf of bread at her head, she said.
Mr McArthur took hold of Burgess to prevent any further assault, Miss Dolby told the court.
Burgess swung his walking stick, hitting Mr McArthur in the face and breaking the stick, Miss Dolby said.Sometimes, society likes to ensure pre-emptive dislike serves as a warning.
Unemployed Burgess was given a one-year supervision order, a three-month 8pm to 8am curfew and was ordered to pay £85 costs.
He was banned from the Iceland shop for a year.Oh well. There’s always Lidl.

Correct, society is largely against people who act in such a way. Pity the courts don't seem to agree.
I wonder what the difference is between `Lidl rage` and `Waitrose rage`?
In Lidl the bread will be a tiger loaf which is relatively light and crispy to be hit round the head with.
In Waitrose it will be an organic rye stonebaked twice-kneeded speciality bombe with oat-scattered crust, costing £3 and having genuine heft behind it when swung in an organic sisal shopping bag.
Quality in fighting bread. You get what you pay for.
WOAR,
Quality!!

"Banned from Iceland for a year". I imagine Kerry Katona and that Nolan sister who didn't sing will be really upset!
