And For Once, It's Not Racism!

Ace needs a kidney transplant. He's been on the waiting list for two years. But that's not that unusual for a black man.
In fact according to the NHS, black and Asian people have to wait, on average, a year longer than white people for a kidney transplant in England.
Typical, the state's institutions are riddled with institutional racism and...

Oh. Wait!
"I always tell the story of when I was filling out my driver's licence," says 1Xtra's DJ Ace.
"I was 17. I was like, 'Mum, do I fill out this donor bit?' And she was like, 'no, we don't do that'.
"I just took that as gospel. My mum said we don't do it. So we don't do it. I never even questioned why. I don't think it's something that the black community do."
Wait, wait! *gets popcorn* Pray, continue...
In May, Ace's hopes were given a boost. A law change meant every adult in England automatically became a donor, unless they specifically said otherwise.
Do you feel a 'But...' coming on, Reader? I do.
But people are opting out and a lot of them are black and Asian.
Ooh, need more popcorn.
Kinzah is a 24-year-old Muslim and said she removed herself from the organ donation list because of the way she interprets her religion.
Note the phrasing here - the only time the BBC will ever dare to attempt to tell a Muslim they are wrong.
Harpreet Matharu is an organ donation specialist nurse from Birmingham. "I just feel like they've got maybe the wrong message.
"A lot of people are thinking the government are taking control of peoples' organs. That is absolutely not the case."
Oh, it absolutely is the case, Harpreet, no matter how much you stamp your little foot and try to deny reality.

But back to Ace. Has he learned something?
Although Ace admits he hasn't really spoken properly to many of his friends about how they could potentially help him, he is feeling more confident of getting a donor.
That'll be 'no' then.

Not racism, but definitely bigotry.

Hope the little shit dies.

With all these aspiring rappers and promising footballers getting culled in London you'd think there would be a glut of organs ready for use.
So a Muslim can't be a donor but can be a recipient? Interesting way to interpret their religion when it suits them.

This is a tricky one. A drop of black blood and you're black. So with a kidney transplant from a black person and I'd be able to do rap? A transplant from a Muslim and I'd turn all stabby - or want to do suicide bombing? That'd be a waste of NHS resources, now wouldn't it? And if it was a black transplant and I got all stabby, it would have to be other black people that I'd want to stab, mostly. Would you start talking all gangsta? Would it be OK to say N*gga, cos I's black now? It's the mother fucking bit I don't think I'd be any good at.

Or if the transplant went the other way? Would the recipient turn from a benefits gimmigrant into a higher rate tax payer? Would it get a conscience? Would it start thinking that grossly oversized booties were just plain ugly? Or that Mo was a paedo?

The possibilities are endless!

Since one Snickers turns an ageing white homosexual whose voice has gone into a black rapper, God Knows what an organ transplant will do.

It could be interesting if Ace received a transplant from a Jewish donor. Oi Vey.

The donor opt-out is not linked to your NHS No., your NI No. or any other cross-referencing.

So, even if signed up as "no organs to be removed", they'll ignore it and harvest organs when you die, pretending there was no information. The opt-out is deliberately designed like this to give carte blanche to the grisly surgeons.

This will happen as standard, UNLESS you have a copy of the opt-out form with you, displayed, and also ensure all carers/relatives know of your wishes.

I find it interesting that every single one of these people's problems is always whitey's fault. This time there is absolutely no way that they can pin it on us. White people have fewer problems finding transplant matches because white people are more altruistic and less superstitious. I don't think that even the Guardian could find a racism spin on this one.

I read in the newspapers some years ago that scientists were looking into using pigs as organ doners for humans since they are the closest to us for this purpose. It brings to mind some interesting scenarios.

They may be right but for the wrong reason.

Essentially this means that the state owns your organs. Typically the change from opt-in to opt-out was made while we were looking in a completely different direction (ie at Covid19). Mind you, who can doubt that the NHS - and the organ harvesting authority - will always act in the best interests of everyone? After all, there might be a government minister - or, more likely, a senior NHS apparatchik (or NHS "vital" worker or relative of same) - who needs your organs urgently and (oh dear) there won't be not enough time to check if the donor has opted out or - in a real "emergency" - that the donor is actually dead before the organ in question is harvested.

Paranoid? Of course I am - and rightly so. Who in their right minds gives the Powers That Be the benefit of the doubt and trust that they would act in my or your interests? You'll be trusting Common Purpose next.

@Anon at 15:58, Ace? Don't you mean Kinzah?

Umbongo,

If you are dead, the organs are useless for transplant. You have to be still alive, although (hopefully) effectively dead and being kept going on some sort of machine.

So dismiss the 'after I'm dead' rhetoric.

OK then - the scrotes won't care whether you're "effectively" dead or not: the organs still belong to the state

For the first time in my six and a half decades of life, I am contemplating getting a tattoo: “My organs remain my property unless used for close relatives “ over my heart.

But not from whites this time. Which is refreshing!

"With all these aspiring rappers and promising footballers getting culled in London you'd think there would be a glut of organs ready for use."

I don't think anyone wants a liver with so many holes in it...

"Since one Snickers turns an ageing white homosexual whose voice has gone into a black rapper, God Knows what an organ transplant will do."

LOL!

"This will happen as standard, UNLESS you have a copy of the opt-out form with you, displayed, and also ensure all carers/relatives know of your wishes."

Oh, I'm just waiting for the first case...

"For the first time in my six and a half decades of life, I am contemplating getting a tattoo: “My organs remain my property unless used for close relatives “ over my heart."

That seems foolproof!
