"Blessed Are The Cheesemakers..."

"Mais non, monsieur! Ce n'est pas toi!"

A list of the world's top ten cheeses has sent the French into meltdown after not a single one of their offerings made the cut. Earlier this week, the global food website Taste Atlas based in Bulgaria, claimed in fact Italy is home to eight of the most popular cheeses, according to their database of reviews.
Sacre bleu!
The only two cheeses originating from other countries to feature in the list were Portugal's Serra da Estrela and Polish Bundz, which came in seventh and ninth place respectively. Both are made from sheep's milk.

Ones to look out for next time I'm in Lidl, I think!

Wow! If the French don't have their cheese, what do they have? The rest of their 'cuisine' is inedible

It makes you wonder about their criteria and independence to ignore all French cheeses - could this be, peut-etre, a group supported by (mainly Italian) cheese-makers?

I'd suggest reading Stephen Clarke's "1000 years of annoying the French" which reveals that almost everything the French claim as theirs is actually ... British (including champagne, croissants and even Madame Guillotine).

(As a teenager I was an exchange student. 'Amazingly' after pointing such facts out, and daily mentioning Trafalgar, etc., i ... wasn't invited back. No sense of humour, some people - at least the Americans laughed when I went everywhere in a red-coat).

But, as Ed suggests, I believe someone outbid the Frogs (for a change) for the 'honours' - French food is like modern art, it is designed, not to be edible, but to exclude the hoi poloi.

Food in SW France, Region Landes, is good. Simple country food. Garbure. Fresh seafood duck.
And the locals are great. Love rugby, good whisky. And they do not like Parisiens.
They do not bother with cheese.

Reblochon in 13th place is as perverse as mozzarella at 5th. In the same way that mozzarella is only fit for pizzas reblochon is wonderful in tartiflette (look it up!), but not much else.
This list was definitely produced by an anti-Micron

You might say that. I couldn't possible comment 😉

"Food in SW France, Region Landes, is good. Simple country food."

I can honestly say, I have never had a bad meal in France.

Yes, it's quite bizarre.
