It's Not Just Him Who 'Lacks Responsibility', Is It, Judge?

Ayling should not have even been on the road as he had been banned from driving after racking up 12 penalty points, and had not reapplied for his licence.
He had previously been convicted of driving while disqualified in 1998, 2008, 2009 and 2012.
And the inevitable happened, sadly not to any magistrate or other criminal justice system apparatchik, but to an ordinary taxpayer and his wife.
Judge Christine Laing QC, sitting at Lewes Crown Court, told him he had “no sense of responsibility”.
Really? He's not alone in that, is he?
Judge Laing said the case showed the seriousness of drug driving and the impact it can have. She said: “Mrs Littler was a woman who had nothing but a wholly positive effect over many hundreds of people in her career as a teacher trainer and for groups in society she took part in.
“The impact of her death upon her family is immeasurable. You had drugs within your system, which takes away the driver’s ability to appreciate what they are doing. If you had been at an appropriate speed you would have been able to see them and adjust, they would have crossed the road and been beyond you.
“It beggars belief that you took your young son in that car, clearly drugs takes away your sense of responsibility.
“You caused Carol Littler’s death and caused terrible and long lasting injuries to Mr Littler as well.
“Your previous driving convictions show you have a complete disregard for driving laws.”
And the lack of meaningful enforcement of those laws shows....what? Answers on a postcard.

I Thought It Took Two To Tango..?

A judge has told boxer Chris Eubank's son Joseph to 'reflect on your behaviour' after he was cleared of raping a 16-year-old girl near Brighton Pier.
The 27-year-old, of Hove, had previously denied attacking the drunk girl in a dark and secluded part of the beach on July 16, 2022. He instead said the teenager was 'completely happy' during the encounter and told jurors it was 'all very fluent and very consensual'.

And the jury clearly thought so too, though that didn't stop the judge from making her partisan comments:

Today, he was found not guilty at Lewes Crown Court of two counts of rape. Speaking after the unanimous verdict, Her Honour Judge Christine Laing KC (Ed: Oh. Her...) told Mr Eubank he needed to reflect on his behaviour.
The judge told him: 'You need to think about your behaviour, Mr Eubank.
'You do have to reflect on your behaviour, it was not decent behaviour in any way, shape or form.'

But getting sozzled on vodka, having sex in public with a total stranger then running to the police to cry rape is, Christine?

Just What Was She Being 'Supported' To Do?

Another case where the state gives a good shoeing to the lexicon:
Verphy Kudi's daughter Asiah perished in a flat at a 'supported housing' block in Brighton in December 2019 after being left alone for six days with no food or water.

And what was she doing all this time? Well, what any young black single mother would do, rather than look after the child:

Now, it has been revealed Kudi tried to sell concert tickets on Twitter on the day the baby's body was found. Another tweet showed her attempting to become a Pretty Little Thing model months after Asiah's death.

So...just who was supporting the baby, if not the feckless mother (or unidentified father, it goes without saying)?

Kudi's flat was one of eight in a residential complex run by charity YMCA DownsLink to house vulnerable young families on behalf of Brighton City Council.

Not content with leaving the word 'supported' gasping in the gutter with broken ribs, the state is looking menacingly at the word 'vulnerable', spitting on its hands and rolling up its sleeves for another round...

YMCA DownsLink staff are located at the entrance to the block at all times. Residents with social workers can receive visits but because the flats are independent units YMCA staff do not enter the living areas or carry out regular inspections.

And no-one heard an unattended crying baby and thought 'that sounds suspicious'? Sheesh...

Baby Asiah did not have a social worker.

No, of course not. Why would she need one, swaddled as she was in the tender arms of the st...oh, wait, that was her mother. Silly me.

Kudi has repeatedly gone missing since the age of 14 and been the subject of numerous police appeals. MailOnline has asked the council if she had a social worker at the time of her baby’s death.

The answer is almost certainly 'Yes'. Bet they have a few questions to answer...

Judge Christine Laing QC told Kudi: 'You have heard that before I get to sentence you the defence want to get a report on your behalf and a doctor will no doubt make arrangements to see you and interview you over the next few weeks.'
The case was adjourned to a provisional sentencing date of May 28, but Kudi was warned this may be delayed.

Now she's the victim, you see.

What's 'Beyond Understanding' Isn't The Attack...

Judge Christine Laing QC told Rouf she had no doubt he was a danger to women before sending him to prison on an extended sentence of 15 years.
Rouf knew better than most the effect sulphuric acid would have on the body, the judge said, adding that the attack was beyond understanding.

It's that you think that after 15 years he won't still be a danger to women...

A Tale For Modern Times...

The father of a 16-year-old who stabbed and killed 17-year-old Charlie Cosser has claimed shared responsibility following the guilty plea of his son. 'It's not just him, we are all guilty,' he said, speaking after the hearing of the minor, who cannot be named for legal reasons and who faces a life sentence.
'He is a child, we are all responsible and should have been making sure they were not drinking. I never saw him drinking before.'

I think you should have made sure he wasn't stabbing, rather than anything else, shouldn't you?

Amy Packham, for the Crown, said: 'There is no evidence as to the origins of the knife.'

Really? Has it vanished? Is this a 2023 updating of 'Cluedo'..?

Her Honour Judge Christine Laing KC DL (Ed: Oh dear...) told him: 'Having pleaded guilty to this matter, you know there is only one sentence this court can pass and that is life imprisonment.'

Which - because it's 2023 and this is the 'justice' system won't be a life sentence.

A 16-year-old girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, denied assisting an offender at another hearing at Crawley Magistrates' Court yesterday. The girl, from Horsham, listened with her mother in court as the charge was read to her.
She pleaded not guilty to arranging transport from the scene, allowing an offender to stay at an address, arranging for change of clothing and footwear and putting a bloodied towel in washing machine.

Probably the only time a modern teenage girl uses the washing machine off her own bat is to launder evidence...

Justice Delayed Is Justice Denied, Right?

Judge Christine Laing QC said: “This is a really troubling case. You deserve to go to prison.
“The landlady must have been terrified. When I read she still suffers nightmares, I don’t find it in the least bit surprising.
“You were drunk and high on drugs with a substantial knife trying to get into the pub. You had enough thinking capability to go home and fetch a knife.
“No amount of name calling or racist abuse can justify you doing that.”

So, a spell in the big house looms, right, your honour?

Oh.

He was given a 16-month suspended sentence, largely because of the length of time which has passed since the crime was in September 2019.

We aren't told why it took a year to come to trial. Nor why that should mean the landlady's ordeal can be so easily dismissed.

Just A Domestic, No Need For Press Interest...

A medical student is facing jail after he admitted throwing sulphuric acid in the face of a junior doctor.
Milad Rouf, 25, left Dr Rym Alaoui with 'life-changing injuries' after he threw the corrosive substance over her on the doorstep of her home in Brighton at 4.20pm on May 20.

More of those overseas doctors without which the NHS would grind to a halt, I see? Well, they are certainly keeping it going, in one respect - treating each other!

Judge Christine Laing QC (Ed: Oh, dear...) said she was mindful of the 'extreme nature of this offence'.
She said: 'Given the serious nature of this offence I have to consider all options. I also have have to consider the question of dangerousness.'
The court also heard a full psychiatric report had been carried out and would be available on sentencing.

Wouldn't this be making more of a splash, usually?

In 2016, Rouf launched an online resource website for medics called Docbot. While also working as an F1 doctor, Dr Alaoui joined the online staff and worked in marketing and finance.

Ah. Just a little falling out between friends and colleagues, then. How vibrant!

Those Terrible Breadline Benefits Again....

A woman whose rottweiler left a housing officer scarred in a “horrific” attack will have her dog put down after her previous pet shared the same fate.
'Housing Officer' seems to be a job which needs danger money...
The 37-year-old dog owner, who receives £800 in benefits per month, was found guilty of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control and causing injury after the attack on May 17 last year. She was handed a six-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months, given a 10-day rehabilitation course and was also ordered to pay £300 in compensation to Ms Moss at Lewes Crown Court yesterday.
Well. if she can afford a large hungry dog, she can afford the fines.

Sorry, what am I saying? We can afford the fines.
Stepney will also be disqualified from owning a dog for three years and an order was made for three-year-old Buddy to be put down.
Sentencing her, Judge Christine Laing said: “He went on to cause quite dreadful injury to Ms Moss’ arm. She had done nothing to provoke him to do that. You are not someone who should have ownership of a dog.”
These days, they seem the only sort of people who have them...
Stepney’s previous dog was ordered to be put down after two separate incidents where it bit other dogs in 2014.
Then why was she not banned there & then?

Normal Human Beings Don't Require Any Support At All...

A teenage mother who left her 20-month-old baby alone to die while she partied only received two hours of support a week from a charity, a hearing was told.
...to not do this.
YMCA DownsLink Group said they acted primarily as an accommodation provider for Verphy Kudi in the build up to her daughter’s death.

Yes, it's this case again. And not content with soaking up taxpayer resources without a live baby and working mother at the end of it, the State is about to splash out yet more of our money on a no doubt pointless exercise:

Kudi pleaded guilty to manslaughter in March and was sentenced to nine years imprisonment on August 6. A full inquest into baby Asiah's death is due to be held at the end of January 2022.
Assistant coroner Karen Henderson said she expects the inquest to last between three and five days.

Gotta keep those legal aid shysters in BMWs!

Peter Wilcock QC, defending Kudi, said it is “truly a tragic and devastating case”.
“She herself, the defendant, is both very young and we would submit very vulnerable,” he said.

I think the genuinely vulnerable person in this ghastly case is dead, Peter...

Sentencing Kudi last month, Judge Christine Laing QC said:“It goes without saying that this is a particularly tragic case and it no doubt raises strong emotions in all who hear of it, but everyone should bear in mind that the charge I sentence you for is one of manslaughter, it being accepted that you did not intend to cause Asiah death nor to cause her really serious harm.”

What did this waste of skin think would happen if you left a baby alone for that long?  Another thing normal human beings know without need of State 'support'.
