The heavily marketed tome, promoted in a prolonged media round by the former prime minister in recent weeks, only just managed to cling on to the No 1 spot in the official UK Top 50 this week, selling 133 more copies than Tim Spector’s The Food for Life, according to Nielsen Bookscan’s Total Consumer Market data.

They Were Here First...
'Local students have already experienced several years of disruption to their studies from the Covid pandemic and are now faced with further disruption to crucial examinations due to ongoing military aircraft activity.
'Teachers and students from Ysgol Botwnnog have voiced their concerns over the ongoing disruption, and it is disappointing that the Ministry of Defence has not been more receptive to their concerns.
'While the Minister for the Armed Forces maintains that the amount of training is limited to that which is essential, I fear this will provide little comfort to students experiencing disruption to all-important examinations, as well as their hard-working teachers.'
Tough. You've known about the training for years. Instead of whining and whinging about the effects of aircraft noise on your precious little flowers, why didn't you soundproof the exam rooms?
Unless of course you're simply shoring up a defence for a drop in the exam rate caused by 2 years of sitting on your arses in your back gardens on full pay while children struggled with remote learning?

Worse Than Useless...
A 'devil' dog who mauled a miniature pinscher to death in London attacked a woman as she walked her border cross terrier three weeks earlier, it was claimed tonight.
The victim, known only as Zoe, 44, claims she was left with 'a hole in her arm' after she tried to separate the leadless bullmastiff from her pet Sid at around 8.30pm on July 16.
She believes the 'devil' dog is the same animal which attacked Renata Aladenika's miniature pinscher Rocco in Woolwich Common on Sunday.
What are the odds? How many of these things can there be in the area?
Zoe said the attack took place near Woolwich Common in south London - and despite calling police she claims no action was taken against the owner.
Hardly surprising. They almost never do, until it comes around to bite them on the arse...
Speaking of the incident on Sunday, Metropolitan Police said: 'There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.'
The force has been contacted for comment on the further claims.
Probably trying to figure out how to apologise to the owner of the beast for 'profiling' her...
Update: The 'Mail' did the detective work the Met Police were too lazy to do in tracking down the bitch. And whaddaya know:
The owner of a 'devil dog' who mauled a miniature pinscher to death is a senior manager at a government youth offending unit, MailOnline can reveal.
She declined to comment when approached by MailOnline.I just bet she did...

Oh No, Whatever Will We Do?
Dv8 Sussex in Queen Square, Brighton, was given the lowest possible grade by inspectors in November.
College boss Dan Wallman said the report “triggered a process” whereby it has been immediately suspended from taking any more students.
He is now appealing for exstudents (sic) to come forward in support of the college to save it from collapse. What sort of students?
Mr Wallman said: “We have a long track record of supporting some of the city’s most vulnerable young people to engage and achieve through creative education.
“If Dv8 were not to deliver in Sussex next year, there would be around 200 students having to find an alternative college in September to meet their needs.
“We do not feel that there is any like-for-like provision locally that offers something similar.”Hmmm. What sort of courses?
Dv8 Sussex provides free training in music, fashion, digital media, event management and games development.Meh! Future candidates for the 'B Ark'. It can go to the wall.

They Have A Cunning Plan...
Serial killer Levi Bellfield was part of a child sex gang that has not been brought to justice, according to a council report.
The report, by Hillingdon Council in west London, looks at previously unreported links between Bellfield, whose victims include schoolgirl Milly Dowler, and a group of paedophiles accused of grooming at least 17 vulnerable girls under the age of 16 for sex.
The document, obtained by The Sunday Times, is by a senior social worker who specialised in child sexual exploitation and it has been handed to the Metropolitan Police. It's brilliant! A pasty-faced white man! That'll..
Oh.
Bellfield, who has converted to Islam and now calls himself Yusuf Rahim...Curses! Foiled again!

I Can't Believe Hollywood Won't Take This Advice!
...the revolt that brought Trump to power represents an ideological break with any situation the US’s myth-makers have known. From now on, even in the most inconsequential domestic drama, every character’s ethnicity matters. If they’re a black male, are they one of the 13% who voted for the Ku Klux Klan’s man, or against him. For any actor building a character in a drama set in the present, the question becomes: what does my character think about Trump, Brexit, the collapse of liberal norms in public life?Wow! That's going to lead to some awesome films in the 2017-18 season! I bet you just can't wait, reader!
So, it is time we demand that the storytelling industry addresses the truth. A man takes charge of the US on a wave of racial and misogynist hate; he screws up the world order so badly it spirals into chaos. Down these mean streets, as Raymond Chandler put it, a man or woman must go “who is not mean, who is neither tarnished nor afraid”.Hollywood producers everywhere are looking up the percentage they'll get of straight-to-DVD sales...
