If In Doubt, Cry 'Racism'....

Twelve-year-old Lemar-Shea Simpson went to Eastwood Academy, Leigh, last Monday sporting cornrows, but was immediately placed in isolation.
Oh, boy...
Selina is claiming the school is unappreciative of her son’s culture.
Wha...?
She said: “I couldn’t believe it, Lemar is dual-heritage and has afro hair. Anyone who has afro hair, or has seen Lemar’s will know he doesn’t have too many options in terms of style, and he definitely can’t just run a comb through it in the morning.
“He knew his hair was quite scruffy and looked a bit of a mess, all the other kids at school had pointed that out to him. But he was so happy with the cornrows, and as far as I am concerned he looked ten times smarter.
“He actually wanted to go to school on Monday. It is a very common haircut.”
Yes, it denotes the child as coming from a very common family.
“And then I go on the school website, and their (sic) is a girl with the same hair cut, of course hers is longer, it looks like it probably has extensions in, surely that is just as bad?”
Well, have you taken this up with the school, ot just rushed to whine in the local paper?

It's the latter, isn't it?
A spokesman for the school said: “The Academy’s uniform policy states that the following in respect to hairstyles: ‘Extremes of hairstyle are not permitted’ ...
‘With regard to the interpretation of these rules the Academy’s decision is final’.
“The Academy deems that the particular hairstyle, as worn by the male pupil in question, is ‘extreme’ and therefore sanctions were issued in line with the Academy’s policy.
“All reasonable efforts were made to contact the parent and explain the position but she has taken the decision not to send him to school.
"The parent was also offered the opportunity to write to the relevant Academy committee responsible for reviewing the uniform policy on an annual basis.
"To date, no correspondence has been received.”
Heh!

Imagine Being This Dim...

...and being a landwhale as well!

This is (alleged) comedian Sophie Hagen railing against Cancer Research UK for pointing out the obvious. Because this isn't science, but 'fatshaming'.

Something that'll have to get a lot more prevalent, as DumbJon notes, in future....

And that distant thunder you can hear is not a herd of elephants rushing to a waterhole, but her followers agreeing with her as fast as their chubby little fingers can negotiate a keyboard.

Well, never let it be said that your hostess was stingy with her advice:

There. That should calm things down.

Ah, I Think I See The Main Issue Here....

A mother was horrified to discover her six-year-old autistic son was being forced to wear a fluorescent yellow bib at school.
Joanne Logan, 42, claims she only found out her son Charlie was being made to wear a bib 'so teachers know he's autistic' when he told her about it.
Despite the school telling her this, which she claims to have forgotten.
Ms Logan, a mother-of-five, said she was 'fuming' and described the school's actions as 'disgusting' and 'discrimination'.
Really? How else are the school sup[posed to know who needs extra care?

What sort of extra care does he require, anyway?
She added: 'I knew during lunch break he's not always allowed out because he has been accused of hurting the other children, I know there's an issue there which the school have to work with me on.'
Ah. I think I see the problem now.
A range of colour-coded collars has been launched to let owners alert others to the temperament of their pets. Bright red means you should steer clear of an aggressive pooch...
It's clearly the wrong colour bib!

If Only They Were As Keen On Stopping Drug Dealing!

Bolton Magistrates Court heard that Ali, aged 46, had been refused a street trading licence in 2016.
But the council’s licensing team received a tip-off last year that he was still selling ice cream at summer fairs and events. The team shared Ali’s vehicle details with schools across the borough and, on May 26, 2017, staff at Bolton School noticed an ice cream van trading outside the Kidzone childcare centre in Dobson Road.
The eagle-eyed Miss Hincks noticed that the vehicle registration of the van matched the one circulated by licensing and went to speak to the driver. As she approached the van, two girls were coming away from the vehicle eating ice creams. She asked to see Ali’s licence, but he drove off and she later reported the incident to the licensing unit.
Still, being England, at least we can find some humour in the situation:

Well played!

Yes, Yes, Idiot Private Company

Steve Bates, 53, of Westbourne Grove, Westcliff, drives a white Ford pickup truck with the registration plate EX58 UFD, but has been receiving fines for an almost identical van, with the registration plate EX58 UFB.
The resident claims to have received more than 20 fines since 2015, and top things off, this week his van was clamped while parked on his driveway and Mr Bates was told the clamp will not be removed until the fines are resolved.
...but are the public sector any more efficient?
A spokesman for Highways England said; “We have processed more than 150 million payments under Dart Charge and the vast majority of them have been smooth and hassle-free. When there are problems we always try and put things right with a minimum of fuss.
“We’re sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. Another driver had a damaged number plate which made it look like Mr Bates Vehicle. We’ve now flagged the number plate on our systems, so it will get extra manual checks in future before any fine is sent out.”
You've only flagged it now?

Well, quite! Shouldn't the police be interested too, in case it's not damage, but a deliberate act?

Does "Be Seen, Be Safe" Ring A Bell?

Nathan Taylor, 22, from Leigh, has been left with severe bruising as well as a hefty bill to fix his custom-built bike after the hit and run incident.
Speaking to the Echo, he said: “I was riding my BMX along Leigh Road to meet my girlfriend after work. I passed Woodfield Park Drive and there was a car coming in the opposite direction. He wanted to turn down Woodfield Park Drive and just ran me over.
“The car then stopped and a white man, with possibly grey or white hair, hurled abuse at me and asked me where my lights were.”
Seems an odd question, which I notice you don't answer in this news article.
His bike, which he built himself and has cost him £1,400, has suffered significant damage.
“I got a new set of wheels costing £400 for Christmas and the back wheel has been damaged along with scratches to the frame, bars and forks. The seat was a rare signature seat which has also been ripped and ruined.”
Perhaps a few quid on lights or road safety lessons would have been a wiser purchase?

Maybe It’s Because...

...you seem to have an opinion on just about everything else that’s not really a police matter, hmm?
