One Of These Things Is Not Like The Others...

Walthamstow MP Stella Creasy has criticised the BBC for selecting a panda as one of its women “faces of the year”.

...

She told the national Guardian: "Whilst we all love a good panda story, in a year when Christine Lagarde became head of the IMF, or Helle Thorning-Schmidt became prime minister of Denmark or even the sad death of Amy Winehouse, it's frustrating the BBC couldn't think of 12 human female faces who have made the news this year."
OK, I'll bite - the first two are true achievements for a woman, but what in God's name is Amy Winehouse's 'achievement'? Proving that female pop stars are just as capable of killing themselves through drink and drugs as their male counterparts?

Because I think you'll find Janis Joplin beat her to it...
"These lists aren't meant to be serious but coming so soon after the lack of women from their Sports Personality of the Year award it does seem as if the BBC hasn't noticed the wide and varied contribution women make to public life.”
Even in their leaving of it..?

You'd be looking for this.

Julia,
That is stunning. I mean stunning. Celebrate female achievement in the form of Amy Winehouse! Now let's talk about female popular singers drinking and drugging themselves to death by the age of 27. Amy Winehouse wasn't even original in that. Janis Joplin managed that trick decades back!

Awww diddums .. has lickle Stella got a serious bout of the "green-eyed monster" cos she didn't get on the list then ?

Well .. dry yer eyes princess, cos until Amy Shitehouse started drawing attention to herself by acting like a complete twat at every opportunity ..

And until you did likewise by coming out with this drivel ..

I'd never heard of either of you ..

But if you reckon Shitehouse was so great, why not emulate her ???

Having had time to consider my options Stella ..

I'd like to nominate you for the prestigious "Socialist Shit-head of the Year Award" ..

But .. its a target-rich environment out there in Socialist-land ..

I mean, you're up against the likes of Diane Abbott, to name just one ..

So .. in spite of my heart-felt nomination (I feel it only fair to warn you) that you may not win (again) ..

Should that not read : "...to name just several"?

Amy Winehouse was the greatest female singer ever, and quite a decent songwriter.

Erm, well I'd vote for the Panda actually.

At least she didn't get parachuted into a position which her qualifications and experience don't warrant (the Wimmins mafia is worse than any alleged Masonic influence). She also didn't get deified because, whilst she sang some songs to make herself some money, she then decided to test the pharmaceutical tolerance of the human body a bit too far (because it's so hard being a famous multi-millionairess you know).

So I'll stick with Tain Tain, and Ms Creasy is just showing her jealousy at being relegated to 13th on the list (WTF has she done to deserve being listed anyway? Bloody self-serving politicians want us to worship them too now! As if they don't pat themselves on the back enough, at our expense, as it is).

I'll climb off my soap-box now, but er, have you actually looked at the bunch of complete nonentities (both men and women) who were nominated? I just can't believe that even the Bullshit Broadcating Corporation couldn't find one worthy contender - naive of me I know.

Then there is always Diane Abbott who proved that black Labour women can be even more racist than white chavs and more hypocritical than Harriet Harman.

Hmm. Billy holiday, beat her to it by seven years.

Heh! Indeed!

"Sorry! I commentated without reading!"

Oh, I often do that too!

"Or Karen Carpenter if you don't....."

LOL!

"Amy Winehouse was the greatest female singer ever..."

I assume that's typed tongue in cheek..?

Yes. And it tells me loads about the people who nominated them!

Amy didn't win 5 grammys in one night for her drinking skills.

You should see the look of awe on Jools Hollands's face when she sings "Don't Go To Strangers" with Paul Weller.
