I once owned a Border Collie who was an angel with children, even though the breed is famously intolerant. I think he regarded life with humans in a house (really, a succession of houses) as paradise compared to the awful farm where he was born and raised. Does that mean on the basis of one experience I'd trust a dog not to behave like a wolf? No bloody way.
That's why I wouldn't want to have a dog next to me in a restaurant, guide dog or no (vide posts passim).

To far too many people these days, they are 'furbabies'. I shudder to think how such owners raise their actual children...
