Recipes in two of the world's leading food publications are being reviewed after they were accused of...
Having too much fat, salt, and sugar, I suppose?
...stealing dishes from ethnic minorities without crediting them.
*blinks*
'Bon Appétit' writer Alison Roman was criticised on social media for making a watered-down Indian or Caribbean curry without crediting it while Christine Hayes, editor-in-chief of 'BBC Good Food' and 'Olive', has revealed that linguistic changes are being made to some of the 13,000 recipes in their archive.
What...what
sort of 'linguistic changes?
Ms Hayes...revealed that generalising phrases such as 'Asian salad' are in the process of being removed from recipes in 'BBC Good Food' and 'Olive'.
What are they going to call it instead? There's no clue in the article, so, Reader, it's up to you! Suggestions in the comments, please...
Ms Hayes told The Times: 'Recognising and apologising for mistakes, seeking to put things right, outlining a clear plan of action and asking for audience input is a step in the right direction.'
Let's give her some, see if she
really wants it, shall we?

Well Chicken Tikka Masala is definitely British, or to be specific, Weedgie.
So to be super "Woke", they will credit any Asian recipes using chillies to Central American chefs? Asking for a friend.
Balti's from Brum.
I like Rogan Josh. I have no idea what it means or where it is from and I make it from a jar. Sometimes I get the Asda brand sometimes Pataks which is an Indian sounding name.
I think they are trying to prove the statement 'go Woke = go broke', or that they are complete wilting snowflakes.
Chow Mein was invented in California.
Can I report the West Indian family down the road the next time they have Yorkshire puddings without wearing flat caps and clogs? If not, that is surely black privilege.
Penseivat
How come Indians (1.4 billion) or even Pakistanis (215 million) are ethnic MINORITIES?
Words and meanings are no longer on speaking terms.
"Stealing recipes?"
What a load of absolute utter BOW LOCKS!!
It is, in fact, the complete opposite. It's "Your food is so tasty, I'm going to make it, too!" It's a compliment, not a theft.
*Mutter. Grumble*
"generalising phrases such as 'Asian salad' "
Given the fact that the word "Asian" has been generalised in the MSM in the UK to euphemise 'Muslim child rapists' (nay! I exaggerate. But not much) rather than someone from - ya know, Asia, this does come across as a particular case of egregious cakeism.

I fully support our hostess's opinion in denying this comment by the way...
Hello everyone if it made it! Hello Julia if it didn't :frowney:
How is calling a curry 'Indian' or 'Caribbean' not crediting it? Do you actually have to track down the actual chef who originally invented the dish and give him/her a name check?
They parted due to irreconcilable differences. The decree absolute must be imminent.
Well if they want their currys I insist all Indians remove culturally appropriated shirts collars and ties. And underpants.
( not really because it's not Indians making these foolish claims but white wokies supposedly on their behalf).
Early Independence Day Report, not much action @ Weatherspoons but long queues outside mens barbers, 8am.
If we are going to start enforcing rules on cultural Appropriation, no one except Germans are allowed to use a car or motorcycle, only Scots are allowed to watch television and only Americans are allowed to use lightbulbs.

Our National Dish, apparently. So when do the Frogs stop calling us rosbifs..?
"So to be super "Woke", they will credit any Asian recipes using chillies to Central American chefs?"
Ooh, were there no chilis in Asia before then?
"...sometimes Pataks which is an Indian sounding name."
And make the best poppadums to home-fry. Sharwoods can get in the bin!
"I think they are trying to prove the statement 'go Woke = go broke'..."
Undoubtedly!
"Can I report the West Indian family down the road the next time they have Yorkshire puddings without wearing flat caps and clogs? "
Heh!
"It's a compliment, not a theft."
Most people would indeed take it as such!
"Hello everyone if it made it!"
Of course you did!
"How is calling a curry 'Indian' or 'Caribbean' not crediting it?"
One doesn't like to delve too deeply into the reasoning of these people. For fear of never finding one's way out...
Not even if Ariadne gives me a ball of string?
