Tough Luck, RMT...

...the weather's going to cripple travel before your commie forces get the chance!

The RDG said it was “a fair and affordable offer in challenging times”, with revenue from fares still at about 20% below pre-pandemic levels and the industry requiring higher levels of subsidy from government to continue running. Operators were also seeking to include Sundays on contracts, rather than relying on overtime and rest day working.

Does anyone else think that's more than they should be offered given the circumstances?

As someone who has spent (possibly way too much) time in Nordic, Canadian and Alaskan areas I ... find it utterly embarrassing how Britain can panic (and shut down) over a temperature most other countries view as either bracing (or if they're Canadian) a nice day.

Cold is when it gets close to zero degrees ... Fahrenheit, not a little nippy -10C FFS.

As to the (now ubiquitous) 'strikes'? Whilst we all know 'the Union' are corrupt and mercenary and are fully aware of what they are doing, the vast majority of the strikers are merely confirming that most people are short-sighted, selfish, idiots literally incapable of seeing predictable consequences or effects, and who wouldn't care even if they could.

The really cheerful fact to remember is ... these people vote too. God help us all!

Maybe it's because it happens so rarely here? Last Christmas was so mild, I almost had to open the window as we sat down to Christmas lunch. Now, as I sit here, I'm looking out the window at -3 and freezing fog.

And the forecast is for it continuing for 30 days!
