Another nearby resident, who did not wish to be named, said: “Serious questions have to be asked of the council. It’s barmy. Who on earth thought this was a good idea?
“We have had problems with parking near the school, but this is an unnecessary eyesore and complete overkill by the council. The first row nearest the road, I sort of understand. But the rest of them are just weird.”
Well, quite! Has the council been shamed by the ridicule it's now been subjected to, or are they going to double-down and insist it's all just fine?
Reader, if you don't already know the answer...
Birmingham city council said the bollards had been put up in response to “regular complaints about inconsiderate and dangerous parking outside the school”.
A spokesperson said: “The number of bollards that have been installed demonstrates the scale of the problem. ”
*sighs*

I'd be tempted to buy a cheap old banger, have it delivered by truck, and lifted into the enclosed space - just to piss the council off! Thinking about it, this would be an ideal way for the "Travelling Community" to make themselves useful...
I live near a (Primary) School. Most parents park responsibly - but not all. Those who do not, create inconvenience and danger for me and my neighbours. Looking at the width of the footpath with all the bollards, I can quite easily imagine the sort of idiot parking that made the bollards necessary.
They represent the benevolent council.
Three rows of dicks.
Does the fact that some do not have yellow collars indicate the desire for diversity.
I wonder which councillor or MP has shares in bollards-r-us.co.uk?
The ones in London that have sprung up outside every tourist attraction are known locally as " diversity bollards "

"...and lifted into the enclosed space..."
Splendid!
"Most parents park responsibly - but not all."
That's a lot better ratio than the local schools near me...
