How The Police Really See You...

Neighbours of Dr Dow’s in Beeston, Nottingham, described how the tenants had made her life a ‘living hell’.

They were named as Daryl Robinson, 45, his twin sister Gaynor Robinson and her son Liam Peach, 20.

One neighbour said: ‘Daryl hasn’t worked a day in his life and neither has Gaynor. But they treat it as a joke. They’re both scum. They cut her electric cables and phone wire because she kept on calling the council and police.’

They needn't have bothered...

The inquest was also shown an email from Nottinghamshire police officer Sam Astle to Miss Marshall concerning Miss Dow’s letters in which the PC wrote: ‘You just can’t win with some people can you?’

And we should worry about cuts to the police service...why, exactly?

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Police said the comments in the email were ‘regrettable’.

No, I think - since she's not apparently even been disciplined for them - what's so 'regrettable' for you is that she was stupid enough to put them in an email and thus get found out...

Tracy St Clair Pearce, 50, was confronted by four men carrying a chainsaw and a knife, who warned her they would kill her cattle at her farm in Colchester, Essex.

She called police late on Good Friday to report the threat, but was left gobsmacked when officers took 35 minutes to get to her home, before telling her they would confiscate her shotguns.

Got to protect those special groups, get that tick in the diversity box, and to hell with the safety of the law-abiding, tax-paying citizen.

I mean, if the worst happens and they come back, she can dial 999, can’t she? What can they do to her in the 35 minutes it would take the police to get there? Assuming they even bother to turn up at all, that is…

'When the police did arrive, they had this incredible attitude that somehow we were to blame.

'I actually had to turn round and tell one young officer, "Excuse me, you are talking to the victims of crime here".'

But you see, as far as Essex Police are concerned, it's the Caravan Utilising Nomadic Traveling Society that are the 'victims'.

And Essex Police wheeled out a mouthpiece to hit all the right buzzword bingo triggers (in bold):

Chief Superintendent Alison Newcomb said: 'We are supporting Colchester Council, who own the land, and are working with them to find a solution to this situation.

'We take any threatening or violent behaviour very seriously and are investigating this incident on Friday.

'This is a long-running and sensitive issue.

'Counter allegations have been made on both sides and the situation is not as clear cut as it seems.

'Our powers of eviction have been considered - however, the threshold has not been met, so we need to be balanced and proportionate in our response.

'Our number one priority is to keep the public safe.'

FULL HOUSE!!!

And the police have the nerve to wonder why they are increasingly held in utter contempt by everyone? Not just the criminal classes, that's to be expected. But rapidly, they are losing everyone else.

Policy-Based Evidence Making Again..?

The man in charge of policing the county’s roads has insisted motorists drove faster while our speed cameras were turned off.

Well, d’uh!

The comments by Supt Rob Povey, head of roads policing, came as lenses were once again trained on speeding drivers after a six month period which saw the number of deaths on Oxfordshire’s roads rise by 50 per cent.

That six month period, as commenters point out, encompassing the dreadful snow and ice-filled winter we’ve just had…

Cameras were turned off in August after Oxfordshire County Council said it would not pay £600,000 a year to help keep them on. But, after figures showed the number of deaths climbing from 12 to 18, and serious injuries rising from 160 to 179, police have decided to turn them back on.

And in what period did these ‘extra’ deaths occur? And were they down solely to speed? We don’t know, because Supt Rob doesn’t deem his public worthy of that sort of information. But wait, I thought the police were short of money?

The full cost of running the cameras, estimated to be about £800,000, will fall to the police from today. Oxfordshire County Council will, however, pay for maintenance at the 72 fixed camera sites, which will cost about £600 per camera.

Oh. Clearly not. But am I being a bit harsh, here? Maybe Supt Rob genuinely believes that the increase in the death rate is down to speed and speed along, and is therefore at least acting in good fai… Oh. Wait.

Supt Povey said police made the decision to turn the cameras back on last year, but it had taken time to find necessary funding and put the wheels in motion.

‘Last year’, eh? When, exactly? September?

An Elegant Compromise..?

So, since we don't have anyone with the backbone to tell the ECHR to shove it, I guess this is the best we can hope for (and is a lot better than we could have had from Labour, or that worst of all possibilities, a Lab-Lib coalition):

Criminals sentenced to four years or more will be automatically excluded from the right to vote when it is extended to prisoners.

And in addition:

And sentencing judges will be given the discretion to stop those handed down a jail term of less than four years from casting a ballot while they are behind bars.

And to quell the fears of Inspector Gadget:

New legislation - due to be tabled in Parliament next year - will grant prisoners the right to vote only in elections to Westminster and the European Parliament, meaning that they will not have a voice in ballots for directly elected police chiefs.

Whoever said that 'politics was the art of the possible' wasn't wrong, and it remains to be seen whether this will mass muster with our real political overlords in Brussels (and it'll certainly be challenged by the hordes of do-gooders), but it's certainly better than it could have been.

If you doubt that, just take a look at the reaction of those pushing for it:

They are both so incompetent they should be struck off! As for LLJs Law and Carnwath, and Lord Neuberger MR, you would be hard pressed to find 3 more corrupt judges in totalitarian regimes worse than the one we have in this country."

And since we are consistently told by the likes of Inspector Gadget that it's the ACPO mob that are forcing the police to be politically correct, they just want to get on with their job of nicking the wrong 'un, oh yes, I guess poor Mr Carroll must have been unlucky enough to arrive at East Kilbride police station when the Chief Constable was manning the front desk?

A grandfather who asked police to keep an eye on his home while on holiday fearing it could be targeted by Lithuanian squatters was warned he could be arrested for ­racism.

It's not like the poor bloke plucked a nationality out of thin air, either. He was responding to several well-publicised cases.

Mr Carroll said: “I wasn’t categorising the whole Lithuanian community. Maybe he has too much training in political ­correctness.”

Mmmm, just like the policeman manning the counter down in Tottenham when Mr & Mrs Mosedale called to report an actual crime in progress...

Chief Inspector Neil Kerr yesterday admitted one of his officers had given Mr Carroll some “advice”.

He said: “Strathclyde Police can confirm that a 78-year-old man attended East Kilbride police office for home security advice, which was given by an officer. The man made comments the officer felt were inappropriate.” He said any complaint would be investigated but added: “We are not aware of anyone making a formal complaint.”

And the fact that it's all over the papers now isn't going to worry you, is it?

Elected police chiefs. They can't come soon enough, can they?
