Another Good Reason to Euthanise at the Scene - H&S

The death of a kennel owner who died after being attacked by a dog is to be investigated. Adam Watts was the owner and operator of Juniper Kennels and Cattery in Angus when he was attacked on December 22, 2021.

Scotland again. And it's not like similar hasn't happened this side of the Border.  

A Fatal Accident Inquiry is to be held into the death and is expected to focus on the management of potentially dangerous dogs in temporary kennels and how Police Scotland shares dogs’ histories and behaviours with kennel operators.

When they have actually seized a snarling ball of muscle and teeth instead of ignoring it and leaving it in the community , do you really need details? Can't you tell for yourself that it's dangerous? 

Save Our Siezed Dogs and Salt’s Helping Hounds Rescue said Mr Watts had died while “working with the dogs he loved and was so passionate about”.

Perhaps if he hadn't been so 'passionate' he'd have been more careful? Perhaps the inquiry should recommend that being an 'animal lover' isn't sufficient qualification to run kennels like these, and is in fact contra-indicated. 

Debbie Carroll of the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service, Scotland’s death investigation authority, said:  “The death of Adam Watts occurred while in the course of his employment and as such a Fatal Accident Inquiry is mandatory.        

“The lodging of the First Notice enables FAI proceedings to commence under the direction of the Sheriff.            

“Mr Watts’ family will continue to be kept informed of significant developments as court proceedings progress.” 

Mr Watts family woulf be best advised to secure a lawyer as feral and vicious as the mutt that killed him, who can point out that if police standing orders were to shoot such beasts at the scene, he'd still be alive. 

Possession Of These Dogs Is Always By Those Who Should Not Have Them....

The 31-year-old, who runs a recovery business transporting cars, said he did not come home after being called by police because he was driving illegally after being disqualified from driving - and did not want to be caught.

This is the ongoing trial of Sean Garner, 31, who denies being the owner of the hellhound that ate a pensioner alive despite valient efforts by neighbours to come to his aid:

Courageous members of the public used makeshift weapons - including a broomstick, a golf club and a spirit level - as they attempted to rescue Mr McColl, who was screaming 'Help Me!'. Police had to shoot the dog ten times to neutralise it - nine times with a pistol and once with a shotgun - the court heard previously. Police 'did not take any chances' with the second dog, Malibu, who was shot dead at the scene as well.

And no wonder. Surely only Jim Corbett or Kenneth Anderson have witnessed such a scene of horror, and that not in an English suburban garden, but in a jungle where it is to be expected: 

Prosecutor Birrell previously gave the jury graphic details of the injuries suffered by Mr McColl, who died in hospital a month after the attack. The hound had 'eaten him alive, he said, adding parts of Mr McColl's face were found in the animal's stomach when vets cut it open. 

He said: 'It guarded him as if he were his prey. It had savaged him. 

'There was no food in the dog's stomach, just parts of John McColl's face. And bits of plastic. 

'The dog had attacked Mr McColl and it would just not let him go,' he added.

Always owned by the wrong people, perhaps because there's no right person to own one of these things.When he was called by the police to surrender himself for this atrocity, he sent his pregnant partner to face the music. This tells you all you need to know about the calibre of the man, doesn't it?

He also ran an Instagram page called Little and Large Bullies, the court heard, which he used to promote dogs for breeding. Garner has admitted he advertised Malibu for breeding as an XL bully, but he claimed it was because it was easier to sell puppies from that breed.

Reader, it wasn't. He knew what he had, and he knew that there were men like him out there that would want to buy these things. 

Garner denies being the owner of a dog which caused injury while dangerously out of control. He has previously admitted two counts of possessing an XL bully without an exemption certificate relating to Toretto and Malibu. XL bullies were banned in December 2023. 

The trial continues.

I would say its a foregone conclusion, but who really knows with the state of the UK justice system? 

The Only Surprise Is It's Not 'A Woman In Her Mid-60s'...

A dog has died after being attacked by an XL bully. The attack happened in the Kessingland fields at 4.15pm on October 12. The dog died two days later.

Lowestoft Police would like to speak to a white male, in his mid-60s, who was seen with three dogs at the time of the incident. Police are urging witnesses to get in contact via 101.

Because these days it's usually women who rescue threse weapon dogs.

I Bet These Two Held ‘Refugees Welcome’ Placards At Some Point Too…

A rescue dog which attacked a County Durham mum and her teenage daughter has been put down by police. Animal lovers Kim and Ella Robson from Spennymoor took in Caucasian shepherd, Boss, three, on September 24, after coming to an "agreement" with his previous owner in Ferryhill. The large dog was said to have “melted the hearts” of Kim, 59 and Ella when they first brought him home, but things soon changed when he attacked them weeks later.

It was the second attack, because some people are too damn stupid to learn the first painful lesson. 

The teenager said: “When he attacked me, I got told to put him down there and then and I said no. I said I’d never get a dog and put it straight to sleep. I said he needs a chance. He had that chance.”

Yes, he did. And what happened? This time he went for a double!  

The following day, Durham Police were called to the family home, where Boss was taken away and put down.A Durham Police spokesperson confirmed he was "put to sleep on October 12". Despite their ordeal, the mum and daughter say they “don’t blame” Boss for what happened.

Nor do I it's an animal, after all - I blame you two for your utter stupidity in taking in an animal of this type. 

Kim said: “I’m just pleased he got two weeks of a family life. We knew he could go the other way as they are guardian dogs.”

They should be made to repay every penny they cost the emergency services.

More details on this incident have been revealed:

The 25-year-old explained her two eldest children were fast asleep on the sofa while her youngest joined her in the kitchen, but as the little boy did so Bruno began to growl. The mother said the pet, who had been rescued eight weeks prior, was 'protective' over her, but she quickly told him off and ordered him away to her father-in-law. Within seconds of being told off by Gary, 43, the dog 'nipped' him and proceeded to launch a vicious attack on him as well as 44-year-old grandmother, Joanne.

Family with young childtren take in dog with unknown history as a 'rescue', What could possibly go wrong? 

'(Joanne) is in a bad way in hospital. She needs surgery again today. Thankfully, my kids are fine, they have just been shaken up by it,' Emma added. 'My youngest thought his nan was dead. It was scary, it was upsetting as well because we did love the dog. We were told he was nice around kids.'

Who told you that, and why did you believe them? Was it a private citizen or a registered dog charity? Either way, maybe the police should be investigating? 

She believes the once 'lovely' dog turned after becoming jealous of her child and once he had tasted blood 'wasn't stopping until someone was dead'.

Sounds familiar. Sounds like Bruno had some bloodsport dog in him. 

He added: 'I'd like to thank the police and the ambulance for everything that they did. The dog wasn't bad we weren't bad owners just something wasn't right with the dog.

'We are waiting for an autopsy to be done on him.

No, you're waiting for a necropsy.  

We are all gutted about the way it happened he was brilliant dog, he was brilliant with the kids, he was brilliant with us.'

Until he wasn't.  

And What Is The RSPCA Doing?

No, don't tell me, I already know - nothing. 

A young terrier cross has found itself at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli in heartbreaking circumstances. 14-month-old Bella grew up as a normal puppy in a happy home but has now been left without sight after being attacked on two occasions. "Sweet" Bella was sadly attacked by one of the resident dogs she was living with which caused her eye to rupture and meant it had to be removed. Tragically, as she was healing from her surgery, the dog, who was much larger than her, attacked her once again and ruptured her only remaining eye.

A family allows their dog to savage their other dog not once, but twice, and from the so-called animal protection charity there's not a peep. And it's Wales again - why are dangerous dogs so popular there?

Bella is also in the sad situation of looking for a new home, after her owners decide to rehome her for own safety, and her unfamiliar surroundings are making everything a lot more difficult for her. Many Tears have described Bella as "very noise-sensitive" and heartbreakingly cries when she is left alone.

What I'd like to see done to those owners would probably get me banned from Blogger...

Everyone's A Victim To The Justice System, Except Their Victims...

A woman who abandoned a boy in a dark wooded area before claiming he had gone missing has avoided a jail sentence.

I guess the child must not have come to any harm, then? 

The nine-year-old was found with a brain injury, injuries to his chest and neck and evidence of alcohol and cocaine in his system by a dog walker who heard him crying.

Oh. 

McGovern, 31, was placed under supervision for three years and ordered to carry out 300 hours unpaid work after admitting wilfully neglecting the boy to his severe injury, permanent impairment and danger to life at the High Court in Edinburgh. McGovern, of Haddington, in East Lothian, also admitted attempting to defeat the ends of justice. She had been "unable to explain" why she left the boy in the woods.

Unable, or unwilling? 

During sentencing, Lord Young told McGovern she had admitted "extremely serious offences". He said she had suffered from clinical depression and anxiety linked to low self-esteem for many years but has made "great strides" towards getting her life together. Lord Young said a custodial sentence "would be the norm" but was persuaded that he could deal with her by the imposition of a non-custodial sentence.

Persuaded by what, exactly? Certainly cannot have been by the burden this case placed on the emergeny services!

About 80 police officers, the force helicopter as well as mountain rescue and the coastguard were deployed in a "significant search operation", the court heard.

All that taxpayer money down the drain, and she is treated as the real victim by a useless, toothless 'justice system'... 

Defending, John Scullion KC told the court McGovern "felt a sense of panic" and described feeling "something flipped in her mind" on the day of the offences. He said she had been introduced to cocaine at the beginning of the Covid lockdown and quickly became dependent on the drug. Mr Scullion said by September 2022, the drug had started to impact on her relationships with others.

He said she had taken steps to deal with her issues and added: "She has had mental health issues throughout her adult life, issues with anxiety and depression."

Surely, all the more reason she should be locked away where she can't harm anyone else?

I'm Making A Prediction Here...

...there will need to be a new addition to the Dangerous Dogs Act list of banned breeds before long. It will be a mastiff breed, most likely the Cane Corso.

A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a dog dangerously out of control and obstructing a police officer has since been released on police bail. A 39-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession of a dog dangerously out of control and has also released on police bail.

Because it was inevitable that the low IQ underclass, deprived of their XL Bullies by the only good thing the useless Tories managed in the dying days of their rule, weren't going to get collies and Labradors. And once again, the rescue centres aren't helping this situation by being cautious on what dogs they recommend for rescuing.

I guess with TwoTierFreeGearKier's mob in charge and too busy savaging each other to care, the community will just have to police itself...

You Really Can't Fix Stupid...

The XL Bully ban comes to Northern Ireland, and rescue centres are starting to whine about the likely effects:

Karen Matthews, from Almost Home Animal Centre, says her team work to "rescue, not destroy" animals.

"The last thing I want is to have a centre full of XL Bullies and having to make that choice [to destroy]," she added.

Kill the dogs unable tro be rehomed to have the room to house those that can be rehomed? It seems a logical choice. 

But logic doesn't seem to be the driving factor for the pitnutter crowd: 

Michael McCartney from Glen Craig Canine training in Lisburn has more than 40 years' experience working with dogs, including XL Bully types.

"A dog's a dog, it just depends who's on the other end of it," he said.

Would that be the end with the teeth?  

Mr McCartney added that he often had more bother with smaller breeds.

But a chihuahua sends you to the medicine cabinet for a plaster, not to A&E or the morgue.

"It is difficult to rationalize how someone can justify fighting to keep a dog alive who brutally mauled an innocent woman to death."

 Apparently, not in America.

The victim was 95-year-old Janet D'Aleo, a family friend who dropped by with her aide for a visit, but the Hornishes weren't home at the time. Authorities said Dexter grabbed D'Aleo by the ankle and caused the woman to fall. D'Aleos' aide reportedly beat Dexter with a metal step stool in an attempt to rescue the elderly woman, but to no avail. Police Chief Richard Brown said the D'Aleo suffered “massive injuries including flesh, muscle and tendon loss to the lower extremities.”

Dexter is, of course, a pitbull.

The state medical examiner also ruled that D'Aleo died from dog bites. Annie Hornish disagrees, saying, "We think Dexter jumped up to greet her and knocked her on her back, and then the aide panicked because Janet fell and Janet was so fragile." She believes DeLeo died from a heart attack.

"The aide testified that Janet didn’t make a sound throughout the whole thing," she said. In the beginning, the Hornish family paid for Dexter's boarding fees while they fought the euthanasia order, but finally stopped after shelling out $42,000. In addition to trying to save Dexter, they are also suing the town to recoup their financial losses.

And incrediby, they havee found someone who is willing to give this thing a home.

Town officials continue to shoot the idea down and say they will push for Dexter's termination.

The whole nonsense could have been avoided if Dexter was shot down on the scene. Just sayin'.

Where Did She Get It From, I Wonder?

A mum who thought the family dog - an XL bully - was "lovely" until it attacked her six-year-old son, has urged the government to adopt tighter laws. The mother, who has asked not to be named, lives in Carmarthenshire, West Wales. She has had an XL bully for a couple of months.

Clearly an adult dog, not a puppy. Is this yet another case of rescue charity endangerment?

There was "not a single sign" the dog could act in that way, she told Sky News.

Apart from the breed itself, I guess...

She said her concern now was "what was happening before [she] had her".

Pity that concern didn't come before you brought the mutt into the house.

Before the incident, the woman had been a critic of the UK government's ban on XL bully dogs. "We're like, 'It's nonsense, it's nonsense', until you actually have to pull a 50kg dog off your son and I think then we start thinking," she said.

The dog would now be put to sleep after the incident, the woman confirmed.

At least, unlike other owners, she isn't passing it on to some other dim and unsuspecting family.

You Know What, I'm No Longer Even Surprised...

An unlicensed driver who mowed down a dog walker, killing her pet, has avoided jail – after a judge heard he suffered his own 'karma' when his skull was later shattered in a hit-and-run.

I wasn't aware we relied on 'karma' as part of our justice system, like some third world country, were you, Reader? 

Kallum Aish was speeding along a country lane when he lost control and ploughed into Patricia Faulkner, catapulting her over a hedge and killing her rescue dog Millie. The 75-year-old grandmother today branded the suspended sentence handed down to Aish as 'disgusting', and said the driver had 'effectively got away' with what he had done to her.

Yes, it would appear so, wouldn't it? As so often happens with vehicular offences.  

Birmingham Crown Court heard his home was also firebombed as a result of community outrage at what he had done, forcing his family to move, while he has also received treatment for cancer.

Do we want to see more people taking the law into their own hands? Because it's what will happen when people lose all faith in the state's ability to prevent crime. 

And this wasn't an aberration, of course. A moment of madness from an otherwise law-abiding citizen. It never is. 

Aish, now aged 20 and of Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, admitted causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving without a licence and insurance, criminal damage (killing the dog) as well as possession of cannabis after 25 bags of the class B drug were found in his bedroom upon arrest.

And those wheels grind ever slower and slower... 

In a hearing which had been long delayed due to Aish's health issues, he was sentenced today to 22 months,suspended for 18 months.

Aish avoided immediate imprisonment mainly due to his age at the time, the fact he had pleaded guilty and his various health issues.

All of which are consequences of his own behaviour and should count for absolutely nothing. 

He was also banned from driving for three years.

It should have been life. He should never again be licensed by the state to get behind the wheel of a vehicle.   

Once Again, The IQ Is Highest At The Lowest End Of The Lead...

A woman whose dog left a toddler with “heart-wrenching” facial injuries after a nasty attack has overturned a council order to have the animal muzzled.

Whut..?

Teresa Ellinor, from Canterbury, adopted American bulldog Cleo just weeks after it bit the 17-month-old girl in January this year.

Yes, you read that right. 'After'... 

She adopted the thing and now thinks her poochy-woochy was unfairly treated.

Ms Ellinor then received a letter from the city council, imposing a list of strict conditions about keeping the dog, including an order that it must be muzzled in public.

But the prison officer, who claims Cleo was neglected by her previous owner, says the dog is no longer aggressive and the restriction is not needed.

The 57-year-old took her case to Folkestone Magistrates’ Court this week in a bid to have the condition removed.

*sighs* 

Concluding proceedings, chair of the bench Janet Wood said: “This is a lifetime order - please be very careful when the dog is around children.”

If she isn't and it does what these things are prone to do, who will be responsible? Janet? The rescue centre who adopted it out? The new owner?  

Well, not the latter, if they are underage, as in this case.

I Don't Normally Recommend New Laws And Legislation...

It was only after the attack that they discovered the dog had a violent history with his previous owner, and now the couple say they want better regulation for rehomed animals.

"When a dog has viciously attacked a human being, that has to be information given to anybody that's going to rehome that dog," Mrs Maidment said.

...but I can't see any reason not to support this. 

And I can't see why it's not already law. I mean, we already have legislation preventing charity shops 'rehoming' furniture that lack current fire regulation approval, don't we?

Beverley Cuddy, the editor of Dogs Today magazine, said animal rescue currently lacks legislation. "It's pretty unregulated" she said.

"Maybe there is a need for some sort of licensing or oversight.

"At the moment it can be anything from a registered charity to someone who's just got a laptop and thought 'I'm going to rescue some dogs'."

Yes, 'buyer' beware, and all that. But if we can impose legislation to prevent dangerous fires, why can't we impose it to prevent dangerous dogs? 

Another Story Missing An Important Fact...

An 11-year-old girl has been left with life-changing injuries after she was attacked by a dog before being rescued by passers-by. Dramatic images captured from a video which was shot at the scene in East London yesterday, shows a taxi driver jumping out of his car with a bat to rescue the girl.

The early morning attack happened on Johnson Road, Tower Hamlets, yesterday, at around 8.30am.

And that fact is: where's the beast now?

A Met Police spokesman told The Sun: 'Police were called at 08:31hrs to Ben Johnson Road, E1 after an 11-year-old girl was attacked by a dog.

'A member of the public intervened to free the victim.

'The owner of the dog left the scene prior to police arrival.

'The girl was taken to hospital for treatment to her hand - her condition is not life-threatening but may be life changing.

'No arrests at this time. Enquiries are ongoing.'

It's not encouraging that the police don't tell us it's safely in kennels or a vet's freezer, is it?

Why Should The UK Taxpayer Be On The Hook?

A woman has described the moment her dog tried to kill her in her own home, leaving her with horrific injuries more akin to a "shark attack".

Her own dog, eh? 

Caroline Fisher, 48, had only just returned to her home in Blackpool, Lancashire, when her Bulgarian rescue dog Metcho turned on her on Thursday June 9.

The 5ft6 Karakachan, which weighs a whopping 12st 8lb, ripped the back off her right arm and mauled her left leg so badly her tendons were left exposed as she battled to escape with her life.

/facepalm 

The carer who lives with her brother Richard said Metcho had only ever been aggressive towards another dog once before and never expected that he could turn on her.

Ah, the old 'He's never done that (to me) before' again...  

A passing neighbour came to her aid and Caroline was rushed to hospital, where she remains awaiting multiple skin and muscle graft surgeries. But her family have slammed Lancashire Police, who they claim didn’t respond to the dangerous emergency for three days.

Wait, what..? 

...her brother, Richard, said: “All they were bothered about was that the dog was in the house.

“They said it wasn’t a priority.

“I had the dog in the back garden but I was worried that he would escape over the fence. 

“The dog warden said the only time they would come out is if social services called them out, they said they don’t come out to a dangerous dog like that for their own health and safety.

“The police finally rang back on Sunday afternoon and said we have seen your sister, we know how bad the attack is, we are going to get the ball rolling.

“The copper that came was actually really good to be fair, he said ‘I can’t believe it has taken this long’

“But they tried to charge me £1,200 to get the dog put down and they asked me if I could get rid of the body.

“I said ‘how am I meant to do that, it’s not a case of just digging a hole in your garden, how am I meant to get rid of an 80kg dog that’s basically just eaten my sister?’”

You pay the vet what he asks to cremate the thing and thank your lucky stars you aren't paying a hell of a lot more for your sister's funeral! 

The dog was finally put down on Sunday evening after three days of Richard being forced to stay upstairs and eat out every night while keeping Metcho locked in the kitchen.

Serves him right! 

Now the family have launched a GoFundMe to help Caroline financially as she will only receive two weeks paid sick leave despite doctors being unable to predict how long she will be hospitalised.

Richard said: “It was like some of them didn’t have a clue some, sounded like they weren’t bothered, the RSPCA just said we’re a charity we don’t deal with this.”

Lancashire Police confirmed that they have since requested that the vet bill for Metcho to be destroyed is invoiced to them and not Caroline's family.

What?! Why should the taxpayer foot the bill for what was a totally self-inflicted incident? Why should strangers pay for this stupid woman's injuries caused as a result of her own stupidity?  

"You had no reason to think that the dog would behave in this extreme way."

Well, apart from the warning given to you by the 'rescue centre' who sold you the vicious mutt, that is...

The court heard Mr Barge paid the rescue centre in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, £150 for the 10-year-old dog.

Mr Jones added: 'There was knowledge that this dog had a past - it had been trained to be aggressive and had been used in protection and as a security dog.'

But it's perfectly OK to flog it on to Joe Schmoe who walks in off the street with the readies..? 

'Prosecutor Jeff Jones said: 'The dog was trained in Germany and the new owner was told it could easily overstep the mark.

'He was told to keep it away from children's playgrounds and sand pits because it wasn't good with children.'

Do you, Reader, wonder why they too aren't sharing the dock with this idiot?

Safety First...Six Weeks Later!

Indy, a Romanian rescue dog was seized by officers from Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Joint Protective Services yesterday (3 February) after reports she had bitten a child.

I should be applauding the police, yes? Well, Reader...no.  

Bedfordshire Police obtained a warrant to seize the dog on 23 December 2021 but only executed the warrant six-weeks later.

*blinks* 

Claire says the officer who came to seize the dog told them this was “to get resources together”.

 

Bedfordshire Dog Unit gearing up for duty... 

What resources? If an animal is reported as 'dangerous', then surely that demands action immediately, not 'after we've finally finished the leftover turkey and all the Quality Streets no-one else likes'..? 

“The dog handlers were arrogant and intimidating, presenting themselves with catchpoles and when my mother asked if she could have support they denied it and the emphasis was on removing her by whatever means.”

“Today Indy cowered as they came in towards her. She showed not one ounce of aggression but they dragged her with their catchpole terrified and causing her to defecate and wet herself in fear.”

And naturally, there's outrage on social media: 

We asked Bedfordshire Police about the incident and why the warrant took six weeks to be executed.

This'll be good! 

Peter Madden, the dangerous dog advisor for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Joint Protective Services, said: “At the scene we initially tried to get the dog into our van with the help of the owner, but unfortunately we were unable to do so, so had to use different tactics such as animal control poles.

“While we understand incidents like these can be distressing, we have to put people’s safety first while our investigation takes place.

Sure, sure, six weeks isn't too long to wait for 'safety', is it? 

“We have spoken with the owner this morning and provided an update, and will continue to keep them informed.

“The dog has been taken to private boarding kennels where it is being well looked after, and it will remain here while the case is being investigated.”

I note you didn't answer the most important question about why you sat on your arses for six weeks before turning up mob handed and putting on a show of force that was clearly totally unwarranted...

Updated: since writing and scheduling this post, Bedfordshire Police have realised the resultant bad publicity was something they couldn't afford.  

You Can't Fix Stupid...

Sharon Archibald, 57, and husband Michael bought the dog called Moose off a 'rescue shelter' on Facebook after falling in love with photos of the golden retriever-collie-Labrador cross breed.

Rather than going to a proper, certified rescue centre, looking at the animal itself,  asking questions about its history, etc, etc... 

But after just four days with the dog, he unleashed a horrific attack on Sharon leaving her with devastating injuries. The pair were in the kitchen washing up on November 3 when Moose came into the kitchen and put his paws on the counter top.

When Sharon firmly told him "no!" he snarled, bared his teeth and lunged at her, taking her chest in his mouth and not letting go. When Michael stood up, the dog attacked Sharon again and bit chunks out of her arm.

Gosh! Who could have predicted that?  🤔

After a ten minute struggle, with the dog was still latched onto Sharon's chest, Moose turned on Michael before he secured him in the crate.

Wait, you're in the kitchen, and you don't grab a knife to defend yourself? You don't leave the house and request armed police assistance? 

The mum-of-two recalls the seller seemed eager to get rid of the dog but he was a perfect match to what they were looking for. After being reassured the hound was a "lovely boy" and good with kids, Sharon and Michael picked Moose up from a car park in Dalwhinnie, Scotland.

Oh, it gets better, doesn't it? 

After they were attacked, the couple decided to have the dog destroyed and an emergency vet was found who put Moose down. During this time, and organiser from the rescue reached out and called Sharon's family "despicable" for having the dog killed, she claims.

I wonder if this mutt came from one of the notorious 'dog rescues' in the former Soviet areas? 

Sharon said: "The most important thing is I want them investigated.

"I want them closed, this isn't a charity they're just making money for themselves. I'm just so thankful I just didn't have any children."

The shelter has been contacted for comment.

I'm thankful you didn't have any children, too. But for quite a different reason... 

But Your Assumption Is Correct...

“My assumption had always been that this would have been covered under the Dangerous Dog Act as they are dangerous and have irresponsible owners however this isn’t the case it is not illegal.

“The owners and dogs have walked away from the attack scot-free – not even a fine! And are free to do it again and yet our poor little boy died because of their actions.

“This has to change. We all know once they’ve done it once they’ll do it again and god forbid it happens to a child!”

...the problem here is that the police are too lazy or incompetent to do their jobs properly with the new laws they whined and whinged about for ages.

The woman was covered in blood. The lazy cops will try to say that it was her dog's blood. 

But please tell me how a person wouldn't be 'worried that it might injure them' while she tries to rescue her pet? 

See this here? 'a court could prosecute if a person believes they would have been injured if they tried to stop a dog attacking their animal.'

They could, but unfortunately until the police do their job right and put it in front of a court, nothing will happen to the irresponsible owner. 

My fondest wish, though, is that the cops who failed to deal with this incident properly have to go serve a warrant on the owner of these dangerous beasts one day.
