Excellent. I was explaining "redistribution" in a similar way recently. I said that I would be very happy for people richer than me to redistribute to make me richer, but if I was expected to give up yet more of my income in taxes then such a scheme would not get my vote. Does that make me selfish or just human?

I'd say human. The difference is, you aren't preaching (and expecting) it of others...
A friend went to an evening lecture at the LSE recently, to run into some [bloody] students waving placards.
Visitors were being harangued with cries of "Support public services!"
He riposted, "I am supporting public services. What are you doing?"
Cracker. I wonder what the reaction would have been if the server had found out that the homeless man was a former employee of Lehman Brothers?
