The Reaction Of Someone Who Knows They Are In The Wrong...

Police forces must ‘stop humouring’ eco activists, Suella Braverman said yesterday. The Home Secretary accused officers of letting protests get out of control because of their ‘reluctance’ to tackle ‘criminal disruption’.
Her demand came after Just Stop Oil activists brought more chaos to the M25, leading to a crash in which a constable was injured.
She suggested that members of the public were taking the law into their own hands because they had lost faith in the police.

All very true. So...what was the reaction? Contrition? Excuses about 'resources' or the paperwork burden?

No, actually, sarcasm and insolence:

But Sir Mark said: ‘We have gone as fast as we think we can do on the Just Stop Oil issues. We can’t take snipers apparently to people who are climbing the gantries.’

I must have missed where she asked you to do that...

‘When we use the angle grinders we have to apparently just take off the locks, we can’t take off the limbs at the same time.’

I don't believe that was in the Home Sec's statement either, Sir Mark...

‘There are limits to how you can do this at speed. We are turning up at those things very quickly. We’re going as quickly as we can.’

I'm sure you are, but what concerns the public is the sloth and indolence your officers display when they get there, and the concern they show for the ecoloons, when that concern should be shown for the public:

And that reaction tells me her remarks struck home, and you know it too...

Plod swear an oath to serve the Crown, as opposed to an allegiance to those who pay 'there' wages. The flawed basis screams at every citizen upon opening a tax demand.

"Sir" Mark should go back to school, and learn how to form sentences which don't [apparently] contain unnecessary words...

The French police do not mess about - they pulled some idiot roughly up from the road surface to which he'd glued his hands. Ouch!
I bet he'll think twice about doing it again (after the skin's grown back).

Who do the police work for, us plebs or the government? It seems to be neither at the moment.

Meanwhile Hampshire police showed alacrity in handcuffed, arresting, DNA swabbing & locking up for 6 hours accredited journalists with press passes who had the temerity to film the ecoloons from a pedestrian access on a nearby overpass & the resultant police failings.

Mark Rowley, like his predecessor Cressida Dick, was already a police pensioner when he came out of retirement to take on the role of Met Police Commissioner. We all remember how Cress crashed and burned. What motivates these people with more ego than ability?

If the protesters lock themselves to the gantry then they can not fall off.
No problem.
The officers or public should add an extra lock, just to ensure extra safety.
Just advise drivers of vehicles passing below to keep windows closed.
Gardyloo. Ye ken?

I can't help wondering how well an electric cattle prod would work on those idiots that sit in the road to hold up traffic. As for the idiots that like climbing on structures over motorways they shouldn't shut down the motorway, that's pandering to the idiots, if they fall tough they shouldn't be there.

It can, and in this case, should be.

"The French police do not mess about - they pulled some idiot roughly up from the road surface to which he'd glued his hands. Ouch!"

Maybe some Entente Cordiale and an exchange of forces would be in order?

"Meanwhile Hampshire police showed alacrity in handcuffed, arresting, DNA swabbing & locking up for 6 hours accredited journalists with press passes..."

You couldn't make it up, could you?

"What motivates these people with more ego than ability?"

Money.

"If the protesters lock themselves to the gantry then they can not fall off.

That's how any sensible person would see it, yes. Let the traffic flow!

"...if they fall tough they shouldn't be there."

I think tha nation is in broad agreement.
