Home Secretary In 'Doing Her Job' Shock!

The home secretary, Suella Braverman, has personally intervened to bar a man living in exile in Turkey from being reunited in the UK with his British son. He wrote to the Home Office asking to be allowed to come back but instead Braverman has ordered his exclusion “on the basis of serious criminality” because of a cannabis offence from five years ago.

No, he wasn't just caught with a spliff. He was a dealer.

Twala’s lawyer said Braverman’s intervention set a “worrying precedent”.

Good! Let's hope it does. And his failure to do anything about his own circumstances has been what's tripped him up here:

Twala had residency in the UK having grown up in Britain but had not yet applied for citizenship. His immigration status now hangs in the balance because of a 2018 conviction for possession of cannabis with intent to supply. He has not offended before or since and served four months of a nine-month sentence – lower than the 12-month threshold that triggers automatic deportation.

So what? We have enough home-grown cannabis dealers. We don't need the ones we don't have to have in this country.

The Labour MP Diane Abbott, who has campaigned on behalf of Windrush victims, said it was “shocking that the home secretary is using an exclusion order in this type of case”.
It is completely wrong that he is permanently separated from his son. Nothing that he has done justifies this. We can only hope that Suella Braverman thinks again.”

But he's not 'seperated from his son', is he? There's nothing stopping his son joining him...

"He has not offended before or since..."

He has not been caught before or since would be a more accurate statement.

Your last two sentences say it all. If he wants to claim his human rights to a family life, then his son can join him. If his son doesn't want to go, then his family life was sh*t in the first place. It's nice to see a Tory politician doing something right.
Now, can Braverman do something about the small boat invaders being housed in luxury apartments in Chelmsford, while the tax payers on the housing list remain in mouldy, damp, hovels?
Slightly off topic, I have been criticised for calling these people invaders. People escaping tyranny will bring their wives and children with them, while invaders will leave them behind.

As soon as you see Diane Abbott open her big fat trap you know which side to choose.

I thought the same. His son can visit him in Turkey.

"It's nice to see a Tory politician doing something right."

Mainly because it's so damn rare...
