Why, Yes. Yes, I Think It Is...

Anglian Water has since apologised for any confusion caused by the signage. A spokesman said: “We are very sorry for the disruption caused to road users while we install a new water connection on Barroway Drove.”

Everyone understands the need to cause disruption, but surely someone must have looked at that signage and thought 'Job's a good 'un!'

Can't you find them, and fire them?

Maybe they are deliberately confusing so the Mighty Spud can't find his way back to Downham Market?

Irrational I know, but I hate the word "signage".
Why don't they apply this to everything else. Viz
The signage on the roadage is/are? confusing the driverage in their vehicleage.
And why is a power outage not eventually followed by an inage?
Seen on the front of our bin lorries, or whatever fancy name they give them, environmental and recycling facilitation mobile resources?, "Caution operatives working at rear."
Presumably some committee decided that " Workers working at the rear" lacked a certain je me sais quoi, while "operatives operating at the rear" was just stupid.
And of rant.

I know the feeling - what's wrong with 'signs'?
