DEI Risks Lives...

...and sometimes it is revealed to have infiltrated the last place you'd expect it:
Security experts are still baffled that a roof top overlooking the presidential podium, just over a football-field away and with an elevated, unobstructed view of Trump, could have been left unguarded so that the shooter could make it on to the roof and then, unhindered, position himself for his assassination attempt. The Secret Service has yet to offer a credible explanation for this.

 Because there really isn't one...

Instead its director, Kimberly Cheatle, incredibly appeared to tell ACB News on Tuesday that health and safety protocol was to blame.
'That building in particular has a sloped roof at its highest point. And so, you know, there's a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn't want to put somebody up on a sloped roof,' she said.

I don't remember the bit in 'In The Line Of Fire' where Clint's character checked his risk assessments before chasing John Malkovitch, but it was a long time ago. Perhaps that's in the Director's Cut?

Cheatle and her acolytes have also been busy throwing local law enforcement under the bus. The warehouse on top of which the shooter clambered (we still don't know exactly how) was outside the Secret Service's perimeter of responsibility, she claims.

But since it was inside the range of any nut with a gun, pehaps it shouldn't have been?

It would seem the Secret Service under Director Cheatle has had other priorities. A former Secret Service agent told me privately that she quit because field agents were understaffed (working 60 consecutive days with no time off). Money has instead been diverted to DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion). Investment in new technology, including state-of-the-art drones, was also sacrificed at the altar of DEI.

Drones would have been very useful here, rather than out of shape women who struggle to holster their service weapon properly.

Like me trying to get my Oyster Card back in my bag after going through the Tube barriers...

It is, of course, the inevitable result of hiring people not for their competence, but for the 'message' they send...

Director Cheatle was appointed two years ago by President Biden with the blessing (perhaps even active support) of his wife Jill. Cheatle had been on the Biden family's security detail when Joe Biden was Vice President. Jill Biden is obsessed with DEI, like most leftwing pseudo-academics. Cheatle talks more about reaching 30 percent female agents by 2030 than she does about protecting those under her agency's tender care. Her ambition is all over the Secret Service website.

And now the results of that ambition are all over the world's media.

Another DEI 'Success' Crashes In Flames...

Lambeth council’s chief executive has quit after being charged with drug and drink driving offences.

Quite a few of them, at that...

Bayo Dosunmu is accused of fleeing the scene of a car crash in Westminster at the end of June. The 46-year-old, from Hammersmith, was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, being in charge of a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, possession of class A drugs and driving without insurance.
Following the arrest, Lambeth council said Mr Dosunmu would be taking some time “away from work”.

Heh!

On Wednesday a town hall spokesman confirmed he will officially leave the £185,000-a-year post from next week.

He's been a long time recipent of diversity hire policies...

He was appointed Lambeth’s chief executive in 2022 having previously acted as the borough’s deputy chief and strategic director for resident services.
Before that, he was an executive director at Homes England and assistant chief executive at the Homes and Communities Agency.
He also served at a senior level in a range of civil service roles including for the Welsh Government and the Olympic Delivery Authority.

And now the gravy train has pulled into the sidings.

Let's Have More Female Judges!

To bring their 'unique perspective' to the justice system!
A drunk businesswoman who glassed a pub drinker after he wrongly guessed her age has been spared jail after a female judge said 'one person's banter may be insulting to others'.
So assault with a potentially deadly weapon can be excused? Really?
Mother-of-one Joanne Dodd, 39, flew into a rage and attacked Carl Cooper after he suggested she was 43 in the beer garden of the Unicorn pub in Manchester city centre on September 9 last year. Mr Cooper fled to the toilet in a bid to get away from the heated situation, but when he came out Dodd ran towards him and twice shoved her wine glass in his face.

Not even in the heat of the moment, then?

At Manchester Crown Court, Dodd, who is from Swinton in Salford, faced up to three years in jail under sentencing guidelines after she admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm. However, she was spared jail and handed a suspended sentence after Judge Elizabeth Nicholls said she was a 'dedicated, hardworking woman' who posed no risk to the public.

Contrast this with her words to a male offender:

“You are not a teenager, you are 35 and mature enough to understand that you should stop and face the consequences.”

No such consequences for the 'fairer sex', eh, Lizzie? You were pretty lenient with a schoolboy who stabbed his teacher in the face with sissors too, though. And came down pretty harshly on pedophile hunters rather than pedophile victims, it has to be said.

The judge told Dodd: 'It is obvious that you had been drinking heavily and there was undoubtedly some verbal exchange between you and the other group.
'You did not appreciate the comments made by Mr Cooper and one person's banter may be insulting to other people but that did not justify what you then went on to do.'

Why are you trying so hard to justify it for her, then?

'Your conduct was incomprehensible.
'The only explanation that can really be put forward is that you were under the influence of drink, which does you no credit.

I though judges had to know Latin? Like, in vino veritas?

'It was no doubt traumatic for Mr Cooper and it would have had an impact on him. Fortunately he seems to have made a good recovery. 'I have seen the photo where the scar is barely noticeable but to him it will be a constant reminder of your conduct on that night. There was a very unpleasant injury, it is a grave injury, but fortunately there is no permanent disfigurement.'

If he has a visible scar, that's permanent disfigurement, no matter the size or hidability.

'There is no doubt that this offence is so serious that it crosses the custody threshold. The issue is whether the sentence is immediate or can be suspended.'
'Perhaps more importantly you are a mother of a young child. Although, no doubt, the child would be taken care of, an immediate term of imprisonment would have a devastating effect on your child. It would be disproportionate to the sentence that needs to be imposed.'

Ah. So women can be spared the consequences of their actions (by another woman, no less!) provided they've reproduced. That's not even a unique perspective, it seems to be shared by far too many of her male colleagues.

Get Ready To Be Charged For Your Bank Account...

And this is the man to thank:

Surely, the regulator should understand that free banking for those who keep their accounts in good order is woven into this country's financial fabric – like good old fish and chips or bangers and mash.

I'm unsure why, looking at him. you'd expect him to know that or care about it. Like our PM he's yet another example of how 'diversity' isn't the panacea the progressives claim it to be.

It's a reward for thrift and should not be abandoned. Most people, especially the elderly, will simply not entertain the idea. A financial uprising? Don't rule it out. For example, we had one 25 years ago when some of the big banks wanted to charge non-customers for using their cash machines. Consumers won that battle, and I am sure they would put up an almighty fight over the loss of free-in-credit banking.

Why should consumers have to gear up again because once more the Financial Conduct Authority has proven to be a watchdog with no teeth? And for those saying 'Well, just change your bank' it's not that easy.

Next Wednesday, the Treasury committee will grill the bosses of Barclays, Lloyds, NatWest and Santander over whether they are giving customers a fair deal – against the backdrop of a persistent cost-of-living crisis. I trust Ms Baldwin will use the opportunity to grill them over whether they intend to abandon free banking for those who stay in credit. Maybe she should also ask Mr Rathi to come along.

I doubt that will do any good.

Those Dreaded Words...

'Poster Girl'. It's a red flag:

The Army’s poster girl for diversity is suing defence chiefs after allegedly suffering a catalogue of racist abuse. Corporal Kerry-Ann Knight, who has fronted Army equality and diversity campaigns, has taken her case to an industrial tribunal. In court documents she accuses senior officers of presiding over an ‘obvious culture of bullying, discrimination, racism and sexism’.
Her claims are understood to be based on her service at the Army Foundation College, where she is an instructor.

Who couldn't see that coming at Army HQ? Hopefully whoever it was doesn't man a front line watch position!

In 2019, she fronted the £1.5 million ‘Your Army Needs You’ recruitment campaign and featured prominently on posters.
In the same year, The Mail on Sunday revealed how she was racially abused by six soldiers while stationed at a UK military base in Germany. Her attackers were disciplined for using offensive words and accusing her of using her skin colour to secure promotions.

The first I could understand, but not the second. Is 'it's the truth' only a defence against libel then, and not anything else?

More Diversity Hire Shenanigans

A row has broken out after a judge who decided to let three women wearing parachute images at a pro-Palestine march walk free admitted to liking a social media post branding Israel a 'terrorist'.

Well, well, well...

Tanweer Ikram is facing calls to be investigated for a conflict of interest after he liked a LinkedIn post calling for a 'free Palestine ' by a barrister who had previously promoted conspiracy theories claiming that Israel allowed the October 7 attack. The senior district judge admitted to liking the post 'by mistake' three weeks ago, but was told by the Judicial Office that the matter would not be investigated further.

Of course not! They look after their own - especially when they've gone to such lengths to ensure a suitably 'diverse' workforce.

Downing Street said that it had referred the case to the Attorney General, describing the sentencing decision as 'deeply troubling'.

I'll say! It makes an utter mockery of our supposed impartial justice system.

Mr Ikram told the women: 'Each of you stands convicted of a terrorist offence. There is nothing to suggest the police of their own volition were going to take any action. You've not hidden the fact you were carrying these images. You crossed the line, but it would have been fair to say that emotions ran very high on this issue.
'Your lesson has been well learnt. I do not find you were seeking to show any support for Hamas.'

I wonder just who's emotions were running high on this issue. Sounds like Tanweer's were, as well as those of these three idiots.

Another Diversity Hire Shot Down In Flames..?

Mr Brown, who was hired as chief of West Midlands Fire and Rescue Authority last year, was accused of lying about his qualifications and playing for Charlton Athletic when applying for the £180,000-a-year job.

Astonishingly, they actually checked this time.

The firefighter, who was part of the London Fire Brigade for 27 years until switching to the West Midlands service in 2019, had impressed superiors with his Master of Business Administration degree from London South Bank University.

Is that really what impressed them so much?

But an investigation was launched after his alleged alma mater said it had no record of his degree, with the fire chief removing them from his LinkedIn account shortly afterwards.

Why would you even lie about this sort of thing? Because you'd got away with it up to now, I suppose?

London Fire Brigade posted a tribute to Mr Brown from Fire Commissioner Andy Roe, saying: 'I am deeply sorry to hear of the passing of Wayne Brown.
'Wayne was a valued and respected colleague in the brigade for over 20 years before joining West Midlands FRS. Our thoughts go out to Wayne's family and friends at this difficult time.'

Did you ever check his claims when he worked for you, though?

Well Played, Well Played Indeed...

Blade runner ULEZ vandals have used a sticker of London Mayor Sadiq Khan's face to block the hated cameras.

Heh! The police are not amused. And are so desperate to stop support for this, they have resorted to lying. Badly.

Which, let's face it, is how they do everything these days.

Chief Inspector Priya Shome, based in Bromley, said: "We are investigating the criminal damage to five sets of traffic lights in the Orpington area overnight which has caused major traffic management issues.

Boo hoo! So do Palestinian terrorism support protests, but I bet you never complain about those, eh?

"Two police units, who should have been available to answer 999 calls, were instead required to spend the morning managing traffic.

Sure, of course they'd be answering 999 calls instead of monitoring Facebook for hurty words, Priya...

Can you work in a 'For the cheeeeldreen!' angle? You can? Good girl!

"The people who are carrying out this criminal damage are putting the public at risk.
"There has been a collision between two cars on Court Road, at the location of one of the damaged traffic lights, in which a child was injured.
"I would urge the people carrying out these crimes to stop immediately and think about the danger they are causing to road users."

But in a rare case of a British journalist not simply repeating the police boilerplate and calling it 'job done', it seems the anti-ULEZ group aren't the culprits Priya would have us believe.

The junction seems to have been a big problem area over the years, and one man who lives directly opposite the crash noted he has seen multiple accidents in the area.
He said: “I have lived here for three years, and this is the seventh serious crash I have seen happen.
“It is because of the traffic lights people get so confused on this road about who has the right of way.”

If traffic lights 'confuse people about who has the right of way', maybe Priya's officers should be there every day checking driving licenses...

Did She Fly..?

Network Rail's managing director for the Wales and Western region, Michelle Handforth, has resigned.
It came just days after infrastructure problems left hundreds of passengers stranded in carriages for hours in the dark in west London.
Ms Handforth was paid a £330,000 salary and commuted to work from Aberdeen.
After all, the train service is sooooo unreliable, isn't it?
A rail insider said she had made the decision to resign before the west London incident, after recognising the challenges of the role.
To be more accurate, recognising that she wasn't up to them, surely?
