The Most Horrible Thing I've Ever Seen On The Internet; Conclusion

A dog owner whose XL bullies attacked and killed a man has been jailed for five years. James Harrison Trimble-Pettitt, 33, previously pleaded guilty to having dogs dangerously out of control when Ian Price, 52, was attacked outside a property in Stonnall, Staffordshire, near Walsall, on 14 September 2023.

The video of this incident was the most distubing thing I've ever seen on the Internet - the sheer power on these animals and the utter helplessness of the unarmed people trying in vain to save him.

Judge John Edwards said Ian Price was "utterly overpowered by these young, powerful creatures who ravaged him for 12 minutes". Just hours after his death, then-Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced the XL bully breed would be banned in England and Wales.

He should have ordered a cull of the damned thing, but he had as little backbone as Starmer has proved himself to have. 

The court heard both of Trimble-Pettitt's dogs, named Via and Ares, managed to escape their owner's home through an insecure door and open window, while the garden gate was also left ajar. Prosecutors said the animals attacked Ian Price's face and continued "jumping and biting". Members of the public tried to help the victim with one attempting to use their car and others using wheelie bins to try to stop the dogs. The attack was witnessed by both his wife and mother, with Ian Price eventually falling to the ground in the latter's garden.The court was told Heather Price called police and was heard telling them the dogs were "absolutely ravaging him".

And, although they sent armed officers. they failed to use them, sonething we've seen more and more, as they run scared of bad publicity from the boodsport breed fanciers and the sentimental public who haven't seen what damage these things can do. 

Judge Edwards said while Trimble-Pettitt did not intend for them to attack Ian Price, he displayed a "wholesale disregard" for his responsibilities as a dog owner.

We shouldn't regard people who want to keep these breeds as simple 'dog owners' - we should treat then as people who want to own a deadly weapon, because that's what they are. These breeds bear as much relation to the pooch curled in his basket in a normal houshold as your Sunday lunch table cutlery does to a zombie knife.

Thomas Schofield KC, mitigating, said Trimble-Pettitt's fault was one of negligence rather than intention, adding: "He didn't wake up that day thinking he was going to hurt somebody."

Then why did he have not one, but two of these things? 

In his sentencing, Judge Edwards also disqualified Trimble-Pettitt from keeping dogs indefinitely.

And no-one will check for compliance.... 

Well, I'll Be A Monkey's Uncle....

Have you ever seen someone walking their pet monkey down the seafront in Sheringham, Holkham or Cromer? For an area that had no registered monkeys living in it as of 2023, an official warning about keeping primates as pets might seem pretty bananas.

You're not kidding. 

But North Norfolk District Council has issued an official statement urging anyone who privately owns a monkey in Norfolk to get a licence before April 6.

The comments, it's fair to say, didn't go as planned.   

Why this legislation in the first place?

 They aim to improve the lives of "intelligent primates with complex emotional, social and cognitive needs that are difficult to meet in most domestic environments".

So are we. Couldn't legislation seek to improve our lives for once? Oh well, I'm sure it won't make anything worse, at least... 

Monkey owners with just one ape to their name must also expand their troop and buy some more primates if they want a chance of getting approved. Under the new law, pet monkeys must be kept in "social groups" unless a vet advises otherwise.

 *sigh* I should know better by now...

In 2023, a survey by wildlife charity Born Free revealed how many exotic licensed animals were living in Norfolk.It found that only one monkey - a black and white ruffed lemur - was being kept as a pet in Nelson's County, in Breckland.

Typical local newspaper - lemurs are primates, but they are not monkeys. 

Seems They Will Be Avoiding The Really Hard Questions...

The owners of the Swiss nightclub which erupted into an inferno killing at least 47 people and injuring 115 others are a husband and wife French couple who are known as powerful figures in the Swiss hospitality industry, we can reveal. The blast occurred at around 1.30am local time (12.30am GMT) in the basement of 'Le Constellation', a popular venue located in the centre of the Alpine town of Crans-Montana. Flames quickly spread across the club, consuming it in a raging fire that killed dozens.

...fire investigators probing the cause of the tragedy are now said to be investigating whether the basement which had just one relatively-narrow staircase was effectively 'a disaster waiting to happen'.

They will be asking all the right questions, but leaving out some: 

Investigators will also be looking at whether the wooden furnishings inside the basement, the wooden panelling on some of the walls, and the reported foam-style insulation material on the ceiling contributed to the spread of the fire.

Questions will inevitably be asked about how appropriate it was for the venue to use sparklers as props to make a theatrical show of serving drinks.

How about asking who signed off on the building's fire safety certificate, and why they did this?  Or why all the regulations the EU boasts about proved worthless in this case?

Advertising Agencies Are Also Smarter Than MPs…

...which is not hard, there are things at the bottom of the Mariana Trench that are smarter than Starmer's mob.

The festive season is traditionally a time of national culinary overindulgence but eagle-eyed viewers may have noticed that this year’s crop of big-budget Christmas TV ads have been decidedly lean and sugar-free.

And mostly dreadful. The only vaguely amusing one was Argos' two mascots kidnapping a guy who thought 'Argos is just for toys'... 

From Tesco and Waitrose to Marks & Spencer and Asda, the UK’s biggest exponents of extravagant festive food marketing have put their Christmas ads on a diet to comply with new regulations banning junk food products from appearing in TV ads before 9pm.

Regulations that don't exist yet, but of course big business is cravenly bending the knee before it has to: 

The UK advertising watchdog will officially start cracking down on ads featuring junk food on TV – and in paid online advertising at any time of day – from 5 January. But the UK advertising industry voluntarily chose to start adhering to the new rules from October, making this TV’s first-ever low-fat, low-sugar and low-salt Christmas.

Can't really say I noticed since it mostly seems to affect things I don't eat, like gravy:

Quirks under the regulations rule out showing gravy on the traditional Christmas dinner’s roasted meat centrepiece in festive ads. However, a “marinade, glaze, dressing, seasoning rub or similar accompaniment” will keep the advertising watchdog away, according to the government’s new rules.

It's 'strategic' to surrender before you are forced to? 

“Advertisers are having to be very strategic,” said Richard Exon, the co-founder of the ad agency Joint. “There is an upside for creativity here. ”

“Are we ready? Yes,” said an executive at one big food retailer. “But it is far too complex. There is going to be a long period where the advertising watchdog has to work through complaints from those looking out for products that may break the rules.”

Because there will be complaints, albeit not geniune ones, all from the army of censorious prodnoses that the government encourage with legislation like this. Because they cannot be appeased and it's folly to ever try:

“This government pledged to raise the healthiest generation of children ever and yet they’ve ignored the evidence, instead pursuing a policy that essentially enables business as usual,” said Fran Bernhardt of the campaign group Sustain. “Industry will be celebrating another ruined health policy, while the UK’s children have been let down once again.”

Ah, these bastards again... 🙄

“Advertising agencies are problem-solvers,” said Paul Bainsfair, the director general of the trade body the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising. “They have just had to adapt and use their ingenuity to find solutions for their clients – something they have always been so good at.”

Let's hope they devote maximum effort to it, because it will upset all the right sort of people if they do... 

Useless Pieces Of Paper...

Savannah Bentham was by herself in the static caravan where she lived with her parents in the village of East Heslerton, in North Yorkshire, when she was set upon by the six year old family pet, Biggie, a police officer informed a coroner on Tuesday.

'Biggie' not being a collie, Labrador or cocker spaniel, but a breed created from fighting dog stock - an XL Bully.  And it ripped out her throat.

Mr Wilkinson informed the court that there was no indication the dog had ever behaved aggressively previously, and the family had adhered to everything that was required in relation to its exemption certificate under the recent dangerous dogs legislation.

Which was just a piece of paper - nothing that changed reality and magically made this mutt a safe family pet, anymore than a  'Gender Recognition Certificate' magically makes Arthur into Martha. 

Asked by the coroner, the officer confirmed that there were no witnesses to the attack in the caravan. He said a post-mortem examination on the dog found no "physical or pathological alterations" that would have caused a "burst of aggression". 

Pointless looking for those - they were in its DNA and breeding, not in its body. Pointless believing that a government issued piece of paper has magical powers. Yet people do believe that. 

You Need Therapy, Not Publicity!

A Southport survivor has called for a ban on pointed kitchen knives and revealed she is still too traumatised to use one herself following the horrific attack last year. Leanne Lucas, 36, was critically injured after she tried to protect innocent children from a knifeman who went on a rampage during a dance class on July 19.

I have immense sympathy for those who were subjected to this appalling attack, but no. Just no. Fuck off, even!  Typical brainwashed teacher, unable to call for the eradication of the real cause, stabby imports from the Third World.. 

Because of her chilling experience, Ms Lucas has set up a campaign calling for the adoption of round-tipped knives. Rudakubana attacked the dance class last year with one of two 20-centimetre kitchen knives he had bought on Amazon for £3.40 each, bypassing security checks. After her horrific experiences, the teacher had assumed there would be tighter controls around kitchen knives and was shocked to find there weren't.

She said: 'Every time I learnt something new, I’d think, "That doesn’t sound right. Surely there are laws in place so that couldn’t have happened." The more my eyes have been opened, the more I’ve been able to formulate an idea.'

A stupid and unworkable one, but hey, an idea’s an idea, I suppose!

She also credited actor Idris Elba's knife crime documentary (Ed; Oh, FFS!) for giving her the courage to launch her campaign.

She has the ‘courage’ to make an idiot of herself in public, but not to cook with sharp pointed objects?

...the brave teacher is launching Let's Be Blunt in conjunction with Knife Crime Awareness Week, and is calling for the widespread adoption of rounded kitchen knives. Ms Lucas is calling for all homes, manufacturers, retailers and the government to adopt the change and move away from pointed knives. She has suggested taking an inventory of all the sharp instruments in the home and explained that many will likely find more sharp knives than they had expected.

I won’t be doing this, I’m perfectly aware of how many pointed knives I have in the kitchen and I won’t be giving any of them up, no matter how sympathetic I might be towards the ordeal she experienced. 

And Then, We'll Charge The Makers Of 'Gladiator 2' With Cruelty To Animals...?

It would make as much sense, with all the strangling of CGI baboons...

Most of the laws that prohibit the creation and distribution of child sexual abuse imagery have been in place since the 1990s. Back then, Photoshop was in its infancy. The physical photographs that paedophiles shared were no less vile, but they were easier for the police to seize and destroy. Since then, technology has completely changed the way these people operate, making it possible to create and distribute horrifyingly life-like images and videos of children in seconds.

Yes, 'life-like'. It's not real. But maybe there are cases of real harm. Give us a 'for instance', will you?

A 15-year-old girl rang the NSPCC recently. An online stranger had edited photos from her social media to make fake nude images. The images showed her face and, in the background, you could see her bedroom. The girl was terrified that someone would send them to her parents and, worse still, the pictures were so convincing that she was scared her parents wouldn’t believe that they were fake.

And will this go down as 'a sexual assault of a child' in official government figures? I bet it will. Making the figures utterly worthless, since no-one's actually been assaulted. 

That is why we are taking urgent action through a raft of new offences that will finally close the legal loopholes that paedophiles are exploiting to ruin young lives. If you are found in possession of a “paedophile manual”, you will now face years in jail. For the first time, we’ll imprison the people who are making the AI models that generate child sexual abuse material. Those who run or moderate websites where paedophiles share advice on how to groom children and avoid detection will spend a decade behind bars.

And where are you going to build all the extra jail space that will be needed, since they are actually at bursting point? Or will you simply let out genuine abusers to put away people getting naughty with pixels? 

But Those Cops And Social Workers Are Still In A Job, Gaby

And that's the real issue. They shouldn't be. 

"Sophie" was 12 years old when she walked into Oldham police station to report a sexual assault. For a vulnerable child, first befriended and then viciously exploited by much older men, that must have taken courage. But officers simply told her to come back when she wasn’t drunk. It was a terrible missed opportunity, as an independent review of so-called grooming gang allegations in Oldham commissioned by the Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham made clear in 2022. Sophie was picked up from the police station and driven to a house where she was raped by multiple men. Many years later, she learned that although a man eventually convicted of abusing her had given Greater Manchester police two other names, they had inexplicably failed to follow these leads.

Why is this - and the thousands of other instances where the authorities failed to do their job - not the main driver of the public's ire? Taxpayer money squandered on 'services' that failed miserably. 

There are thousands of Sophies out there, yet they are already slipping through the cracks of a debate that is supposedly about them: becoming pawns in an unedifying power struggle on the right of British politics, as the world’s richest man tests the limits of his influence over it.

At least he's keeping the pressure on, Gaby. I don't see anyone at the 'Guardian' stepping up to the plate.  

The BNP first tried to capitalise on rumours of Asian men exploiting white girls in Oldham a decade and a half ago, apparently distributing leaflets reading Our Children Are Not Halal Meat. Now Reform UK is demanding a new national inquiry into an already exhaustively examined scandal, the deportation of perpetrators with dual nationality – that many, not all, perpetrators were of Pakistani heritage is an awkwardly inescapable part of the story – and the jailing of anyone caught looking the other way, while Kemi Badenoch races to keep up and her rival Robert Jenrick races to outdo her.

Why is it 'awkward'? Usually, if crime is being committed by identifiable groups, that helps the police efforts, doesn't it? 

“I have a message for the legacy media,” announced the academic turned Reform cheerleader Prof Matt Goodwin. “If you’d been doing your job, we wouldn’t need Elon Musk.”

A message that should be resonating. But it isn't. 

My guess is Musk will lose this fight, because it’s Farage Reform members come to see: bounding onstage to denounce the “mass rape abomination” – his audience consider the phrase “grooming gangs” too soft – and accusing Starmer of failing to prosecute rapists, before arguing that the Conservatives were practically as bad.

The phrase IS too soft and yes, the Conservatives did fuck all for 13 years, but they are out and Labour are in! The buck stops where, Gaby? 

What may resonate, however, is the nagging sense that justice has still not entirely been done. With no police officer sacked or professional charged over arguably Britain’s worst child protection scandal, we are lacking a sense of catharsis.

So why aren't you using your pulpit to call for that, Gaby, instead of whining about Musk and Farage? 

Survivors need to know that in future such failure will have consequences, which is why Starmer is right to signal a new criminal offence of failing to report abuse, as recommended by the independent inquiry into child sexual abuse set up under Theresa May.

What good will that do, when the people they were reporting it to covered it up and ignored it!  It's just yet more useless legislation! 

Maybe You Shouldn't Bang On Endlessly About The 'Obesity Crisis' Then?

Weight-loss injections are being aggressively marketed to British consumers through often illegal promotions, in a practice experts have described as a “wild west” industry of drug selling. The booming market for jabs such as Wegovy and Mounjaro has triggered a price battle among online pharmacies, with even high-street chains cashing in on the soaring demand.

Well, why the surprise, when the media is full of stories like this and you can't walk into any dr's surgery or A&E without screaming posters about obesity being a 'killer'?  

...a Guardian review of reports by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has revealed many online pharmacies are flouting the rules in an attempt to attract customers looking for weight-loss treatments. The regulator has regularly written to online pharmacies who advertise cut-price and multibuy deals on jabs to censure them for their promotions, reminding the seller that the suitability of weight-loss injections “should be a professional prescribing decision based on a consultation”.

We live in a 'quick fix' society, so of course people worried about the constant pressure from the NHS aren't going to eat healthily and exercise, because that all takes too long. A jab is the ideal solution for them. 

The MHRA’s official guidance states that a failure to comply with any requirement imposed by a notice served under the regulations is a criminal offence.

“The penalty is a fine and/or imprisonment for up to two years,” it states.

And how many have been issued? Zero. So it might as well not exist. Like any legislation that isn't enforced.

Every Christmas, domestic abuse rates soar as women find themselves on the receiving end of batterings, abuse and controlling behaviour from a partner, son or former spouse demonstrating anything but festive peace and goodwill. It’s a year-round problem with a seasonal peak.

Though rarer, pretty sure there'll be a few men dreading Christmas with a violent female wife of partner too, Yvonne. Doesn't that concern you?

Keir Starmer is committed to halving violence against women and girls (VAWG) in a decade. Several initiatives have been announced. They include embedding domestic abuse specialists in 999 control rooms; new domestic abuse protection orders that mean perpetrators could face tougher sanctions; and powers given to six police forces to charge a domestic abuse suspect without first going to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Kier Starmer said a hell of a lot before getting into No 10 Yvonne. I don't think anyone will be surprised if this is yet another of his broken promises...

These are early days but so far, like random jigsaw pieces that have ended up in the same box, the initiatives don’t cohere. What’s more, it might have been better to establish what already works well: to implement existing legislation, for instance, on stalking and coercive control; and to introduce an oversight mechanism that monitors whether police, probation, health, housing and all the services are collaborating to address a constant (and repetitive) stream of recommendations from domestic homicide reviews, inquiries and inquests that could save the lives of women and children. But that’s not happening.

Of course not! This is politics, and 'We're making the public sector do their jobs properly now!' doesn't get the same headlines as 'We're introducing new legislation!'. Does it?

Have We Reached Peak Absurdity Yet?

Somnetimes, I just can't be sure, as every time I think so, something else pops up...

The Labour MP Paulette Hamilton and singer Mel B are among leading Black Britons urging parliamentarians to make the UK the first western country to introduce a law to end afro hair discrimination.

Whut?! 

The letter has been signed by 100 campaigners and supporters, including the singer Beverley Knight, writer and campaigner Patrick Hutchinson, singer and presenter Fleur East, school leader Evelyn Forde MBE and Prof Patrick Vernon OBE. It warns that the “omission of hair as a protected characteristic from the law has facilitated everyday discrimination and the normalisation of afro hair as inferior in every sphere of life”.

I don't think it's the hair that people see as 'inferior', actually.  

Campaigners have long argued that British children are unfairly penalised in school for wearing natural styles and protective methods for the upkeep of their afro hair, while adults in UK offices also face discrimination, harassment and assault.

De Leon said: “Laws are actually there to tell people what is right and what is wrong and to protect minority groups from oppression, discrimination and injustice. We simply do not have the right laws in the UK to stop generations of Afro hair discrimination from continuing.”

Personally, I think we do have the right laws in England, and we certainly don't need any more.  

That Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act Is Going Well, Then...

A senior academic has been reported to police after allegedly making ­sectarian comments at an anti-racism rally.

Oh. 

Jeanette Findlay, an economics professor at Glasgow University, spoke at the event in Glasgow on Saturday. She is chairman and founding member of Call it Out, a campaign against anti-Irish racism and anti-Catholic bigotry.

And her chosen method is....Protestant bigotry!  

In a recording of her speech to protesters, shared on social media platform X, Professor Findlay said members of the Orange Order were at the event. She said they ‘swim in the same dirty water as the racists who are in Luton or London’ and claimed ‘anti-fascist’ protesters had been ‘kettled’ by ‘political police’ at the event. Professor Findlay said: ‘When you say you won’t allow the Right on your streets, can I remind you that the Right march our streets every week 11 months of the year – and in particular in July, when they take over the whole city from the first hour of the morning to the last hour at night. You need to stand with us and our community and protect our churches, our places of ­worship, when those b******* are going past us.’

Protect them from people marching past, not actually doing anything other than existing? What a snowflake.

The professor is also seen in another video shared on X ­asking a police officer who is telling her to move on: ‘Are you moving the Huns?’

Well, I'm learning new epithets for religious bigotry, not sure of the derivation of that one...  

A Police Scotland spokesman said: ‘A complaint has been received and is being assessed.’

As you have to do now.  

A statement online said the Grand Lodge had ‘written to the Scottish Government, police and other organisations expressing our concern over Professor Findlay’s speech and seeking action’. Todd Ferguson, a Tory councillor in North Ayrshire, tweeted: ‘The speech is at odds with the Scottish Government’s Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act 2021.’

Easy to see why crime is becoming rife in Scotland, if the police are tied up with this nonsense all the time... 

Got To Keep The Money Flooding In....

The London Climate Resilience Review (LCRR) has urged Keir Starmer's new Labour UK government to consider introducing 'stormwater charges' for people who have no natural run-offs in their gardens such as grass. It was ordered by Sadiq Khan following what his office branded 'increasing severity and frequency of climate impacts' in the capital, including flash floods in 2021 and the 2022 heatwave - and warns of a 'lethal risk' to Londoners posed by floods.

That 'lethal risk' has accounted for how many deaths in London? Would you believe, zero?  

In 2008 the government changed the laws on resurfacing gardens - meaning anything larger than five square metres was only permitted when the surface was rendered permeable. But the Greater London Authority says these rules are poorly enforced because of a lack of defined standards on the absorbency of the materials to be used.

Another piece of utterly useless legislation then?  

And the reasons people are thought to be paving over their gardens so they can park their cars off the street are twofold: to avoid parking permit charges from their local council, and to be able to charge the rising number of electric cars on the roads.

Ha ha ha ha! Can't anyone see beyond getting legislation passed and not accounting for people's responses to it?  

But The Worst Of Them Will Be Hit By It, Surely?

Harry Potter author JK Rowling has hit out at Humza Yousaf after the First Minister confirmed trans women will be protected by a new misogyny law.

That's going to be hard to do, when so many of the high profile transgender 'women' prove to be, well, utterly misogynistic themselves. 

The Scottish Government had previously came (sic) under fire for leaving out the sex characteristic from its controversial hate crime legislation after a review by Baroness Helena Kennedy found that specific misogyny offences needed their own law. Her report recommended the creation of a separate piece of legislation to tackle 'the spectrum of misogynistic conduct' rather than including it within the hate crime Act.

Quite why a seperate offence was needed is hard to fathom, unless it was a sop they intended to placate women annoyed that men in frocks could now use their toilets. If so, EPIC FAIL! on that score...

Ms Rowling responded by posting on social media: 'Once again, [Mr Yousaf] makes his absolute contempt for women and their rights clear.

'Women were excluded from his nonsensical hate crime law, now he introduces a 'misogyny law' designed to also protect men.'

Indeed. Now Humza Yousless is no more, will his successor have the courage to reverse this nonsense?  

The Signs Of A (Failing) Dictatorship

...can see seen in the illiberal and unnecessary laws they try to pass in their dying days.

MPs will debate plans for some of the world's toughest anti-tobacco laws on Tuesday. Rishi Sunak wants to make Generation Alpha, born since 2009, the UK's first smoke-free generation in a major public health intervention.

Anyone turning 15 from this year would be banned from buying cigarettes under the Tobacco and Vapes Bill, which also makes vapes less appealing to children.

At least that has the small virtue of proven harm. But adulthood should confer the ability to take risks with one's health should one wish.

The creation of sexually explicit "deepfake" images is to be made a criminal offence in England and Wales under a new law, the government says. Under the legislation, anyone making explicit images of an adult without their consent will face a criminal record and unlimited fine. It will apply regardless of whether the creator of an image intended to share it, the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) said.

That this is how a so-called 'Conservative' government should choose to spend it's last days in office is embarassing for our country. 

Once Again, I'm Relegated To Third Class Citizen...

Assaulting a shop worker will be made a separate criminal offence in England and Wales as part of a government response to a wave of retail crime.

So, assault me and it's dealt with under normal assault rules, but assault the lady stacking the shelves in Asda and ... it's somehow different and more of a crime? Why? 

Rishi Sunak said shops must be free from the threat of crime or abuse. The government previously said it did not think a law change was required or would be "most effective" in response to a petition on the subject.

And now it's changed it's mind. Obvioulsy they think it's a vote winner.  

There has been a long-running campaign - backed by several business leaders - to see violence against shop workers made a standalone offence. Helen Dickinson, chair of the British Retail Consortium, welcomed the announcement, saying "the voices of the three million people working in retail are finally being heard".

Three million votes on offer, eh? 

The new offence will carry a maximum sentence of six months in prison.

If activist judges don't fall for the defence's sob story, you mean?

Katie Neeves, a trans woman who was appointed a UN Women UK delegate, was mentioned by Ms Rowling in a previous thread on X. The author claimed Ms Neeves "switched from straight man to lesbian at the age of 48".

Ms Neeves told BBC News she was "very disappointed" with Police Scotland.

She said: "JK Rowling is a bully and this act was designed to stop bullying, and if they're not going to enforce it then that's very disappointing."

You're a fraud, stealing a position from a real woman, and you have the nerve to whine about it?  

Ms Neeves said the story had been published all over the world and was "all misinformation about me".

Where's the 'misinformation'? You're a man and you always will be.

Ms Neeves also confirmed she would be making a complaint to the police but had not done so yet.

There's Nothing Government Legislation Can't Make Worse...

A law change to increase organ donation has resulted in fewer patients receiving transplants, The Mail on Sunday has learned.

Of course, since when doe a government initiative actually improve anything? 

The new rules in England, which came into force in May 2020, mean everyone is presumed to be an organ donor when they die unless they have 'opted out'. Officials said the change would lead to at least 100 extra donors and 230 more transplants every year, also ensuring fewer patients would die waiting for an organ.

I immediately opted out and I bet lots of other people did. So do we get a mea culpa from government? Reader, we do not...

But NHS Blood and Transplant figures reveal nine per cent fewer transplants took place last year than before the change. The number of donors has fallen by ten per cent since 2019/20 and the waiting list for a new organ has rocketed 28 per cent. Experts have pointed to a drop in consent rates from families, who still have the final say over whether a loved one's organs can be used.

But politicians and charities say officials have failed to employ enough specialist transplant nurses, or address problems in over-stretched transplant units, meaning donor organs that become available are turned down if there is no theatre space.

...because know police often fail to attend, telling victims that it's a matter for the dog warden.

Dog attacks have risen by a fifth in one year, with police recording more than 80 incidents a day. Police forces recorded 30,539 offences of a dog injuring a person or a guide dog last year, an investigation by the BBC found, increasing from 25,291 in 2022.

Thus ignoring all the dog on dog attacks that they can swerve if the victim fails to utter the right magic words. 

Dr Ed Hayes, head of public affairs at The Kennel Club, the organiser of Crufts, said that the legislation is 'doomed to fail' because of gaps in the law. Dr Hayes said that breeders will pair two dogs together that are half an inch under the legal limit, therefore making it legal.

Legal limits can be changed. 

The Crufts official also said that the Dangerous Dog Act is another strain on police resources, adding that after being assessed in court, the canines are 'typically' handed back to their owners.

Unless the mutts attack the cops and are gunned down, of course. 

In January it was reported that police have spent at least £2.2 million housing XL bullies.

But I Thought They Had Time Pressures In Schools..?

Children as young as five are having innocent-sounding playground remarks logged as 'racist incidents' by primary school staff, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.

For what possible purpose?

Many schools, including those in London, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Liverpool and Brighton, record incidents on pupils' files which can be transferred when they move to secondary school.

Others use a national database of the incidents for other teachers to access and monitor files.

If only there was such a database for actual misbehaviour. Maybe then genuine threats could be tracked...

School leaders say they are encouraged to report all racist incidents to local authorities, though there is no legal requirement.

There's a saying about journalism:

I guess we can add 'teachers' to that list!

Adrian Hart, a researcher who uncovered the incident reports at Brighton schools, said: 'The vast majority of the so-called 'racist' incidents we see schools recording are simply evidence of children behaving childishly.'

And these incidents of teachers gleefully recording non-incidents for their fellows is...what? It's not 'childishness', is it? It's something rather more sinister... 

The National Union of Teachers, the National Association of Headteachers, the Local Government Association and Leeds City Council were unable to comment.
