"The disturbance at Ashwell Prison sounded 'like a war', according to one eyewitness. Beverly Cardell, who lives near the prison, said: "My son woke me at 1am and said there were loads of police about.
"We could hear lots of noise, shouting, banging and general noise from the prison.
"You could see flames and there's smoke over the prison now.
"In 23 years we've had incidents like when some lads where on the roof, but nothing ever this bad. It was like a war."
Don't worry Julia.
I'm sure that they'll let us know, just as soon as they think that they have something that they need us to know.
The Beeb describe it as a 'category C' prison. They don't seem to be the type to riot...
Unless they've sent non-category C prisoners there due to overcrowding elsewhere?
Labour are desperate for some diversionary tactics?
Maybe a staged event to create a smokescreen to divert our attention away from other policing matters?
clouds of smoke from a secure facility, people shouting, lots of police, reminds me of a film, now what did the nice man say, something along the lines of "zis vay for de-lousing"
Disposal of older prison blunder reports?
Probably the Muslim mafia at the jail have kicked off with a riot over prayers or else because someone has confiscated too many drugs or cell phones.
This is what I see happening. pardon me for swooning, I reckon it's the shock.
Don't riots provide perfect opportunities to reduce the prison population?
You'd think. But I guess in Brown's Britain, we can't even do that right...
