Beats me what's either horrible-tasting or surprising about a meal of goat & deer meat. Eaten both, regularly. Cabra can be on the tough side but properly cooked, delicious. And thins out the bloody goats. Venison tends to turn up in the pricier end of menus in gourmet restaurants. And WTF do you expect a neolithic hunter to be carrying for scoff, embarking to cross the Alps on foot? A carton of muesli & rocket salad with tarragon vinegar?
Beats me what's either horrible-tasting or surprising -Anon
Shurely 'beets me'?
Pretty sure the 'horrible tasting' bit in the report (its taken them this long to find his bloody stomach because it had 'moved up' during mummification? To where precisely...his inner ear?) has just been snowflaked by a vegan reporter and actually referred to fern he eat with it, which is absolutely fucking horrible BUT still shifts worms faster than any modern de-worming tab and Ötzi was probably a martyr to his intestinal parasites.

"Eaten both, regularly."
Only ever had goat in a curry, but it was very tasty. And is apparently making a comeback amongst foodies.
"...and Ötzi was probably a martyr to his intestinal parasites."
No NHS, you see.... ;)
