I think that it is supposed to say 'wave of redundancies'. Auto correct strikes again.

Anyway, isn't it lucky that the magic money tree is really real, otherwise we would be screwed.

I was going to say "Slew", but since the letters "W" & "S" are above one another on the keyboard, I think Stonyground is correct.

I suspect the Grauniad can no longer afford to pay junior scribes, who once might have checked for typos, spelling & grammar errors. It's probably done (but not very well) by software these days.
But then, they were always crap at it - hence the nickname Grauniad!

My favourite was in the poor old Daily Telegraph a while back.
The alleged assailant is in Police custody and is said to be in a stale condition".
