'Concerned Citizens' Ain't What They Used To Be...

The officers were forced to battle back against concerned passersby while patting down a man who was carrying a knife outside Walthamstow Central Station in London.
Why would 'concerned passersby' be harassing the police? What were they concerned about..?
In a video posted online today a woman shouted: Don't talk to me like that. All I've said to you in where's your mask. I didn't say anything else. Put a mask on.'
The video showed a group of women standing near three police officers as they performed a search on a man outside the crowded bus station. One woman said: 'I'm just asking because we are quite concerned.'
How solicitous they are for the welfare of a man carrying a knife! I wonder why?
A police officer asked the women to stay distanced from each other if they were worried about the virus. As he held up the six-inch knife he said: 'Thank you for everyone's concern but this is what he's got in his possession. You're worried about the virus, split up. Split up and walk away.'
Boy, I bet they feel silly now, eh?

Oh.
One of the women said: 'We don't need to split up. You're out of order.'
What did these fragile flowers of concerned femininity look like? Reader, I'm glad you asked:

Good of the caption to identify them as 'women', I wouldn't be too sure...

Maybe we can now see why the police may get a little trigger-happy with a certain demographic who appear to believe that the colour of their skin is a 'Get Out Of Jail Free' card..?
Another of the passersby questioned whether the man's human rights were being considered.
I wasn't aware 'carrying a Rambo knife in the street without hindrance' was a human right, but then, there are so many these days...

And perhaps we should take with an even larger pinch of salt the bleatings of the usual suspects who whine about how the police are 'doing nothing about knife crime' in future?

And point out what invariably happens when they try..?

Something about juvenile hens returning to base comes to mind....

The fact is that the public do not trust the police so even when the police are in the right they still have to put up with grievance.
It stems from officers more concerned about hitting targets rather than fighting crime. It's long overdue to bring back common sense policing. That will then earn back the public trust.

Hardly surprising...the majority of honest folk despise plod and the criminal classes with equal vehemence.

The police lost the public's trust when they became politicised. This was compounded by the introduction of PCSOs, surely a joke. Also reducing the physical entry requirements, especially height and strength (in order to box-tick over equality), has seen many unfit "porkers" waddling around Greggs when not sat in their cars.

Thus they now waste time sitting in front of PCs, dredging for "thought crimes" whilst ignoring burglaries, etc. And female PCs have to radio for back-up (men) when confronted in the street (which is rarely, as they are not out much).

As the whole shebang is run by Ms Dick, not a person to inspire confidence, it'll get worse until we have a Home Secretary with the backing to reform the whole structure.

Well said Feral you have made the point really well. The Police have done so little for the average person for so long we don't identify with them anymore. Now the law abiding fear being targeted as easy prey for revenue gathering and box ticking while the Police abandon them when they need help. If this situation is not address soon I fear people will turn to self help with all its terrible consequences.

I'm actually surprised that a complaint hasn't been made about the Police officer's apparent sarcasm, leading to mass offence being caused among the black sommunity.

Oh look Melvin has polled the whole country and come to the conclusion that the majority despise the police. Must have been a Herculean task. Well done.
I've done my own poll that reveals that the majority of the public find MTG a pompous opinionated twerp.

Probably on his way to deliver justice to one of his ethnic brethren, I'd have happily pointed him in the right direction.

The more one appeases, the more one needs to keep doing it...

"The fact is that the public do not trust the police..."

Please don't confuse these with 'the public'. It's not something I recognise as such.

"... it'll get worse until we have a Home Secretary with the backing to reform the whole structure."

Then I can't see it ever getting better. Since there's no one with the will to see that through.

"I'm actually surprised that a complaint hasn't been made about the Police officer's apparent sarcasm, leading to mass offence being caused among the black sommunity."

They are probably only realising it's sarcasm right about now...

"...I'd have happily pointed him in the right direction."

It does seem as if the best we can hope for is they kill each other off. And at least with a knife, there's no risk of collateral damage...
