The only possible explanation is that collusion with the crew was uncovered, making the charges null and void. But if that's the case, why aren't they facing charges?

No jail despite being a habitual weapons user. Does no-one ever face harsh justice in this country..?

Why am I not surprised that the Police now regard snowballs as a more serious offence than the hyjack of a ship? It's obvious really lots more money to extorted from the peasants and with a lot less effort. It's also a fact of course that peasants playing snowballs are most unlikely to offer any real resistance or violence, nice safe way to gather revenue then, job done.
I just saw a TV ad, the police are advertising for new recruits. Do you suppose that existing officers are either resigning in disgust or possibly dying of shame?
