The Witchfinder General Will Always Find Witches...

'I will be appealing this decision, which I feel is wholly disproportionate to what I did, especially in relation to other much more serious recent offences in Hampshire where police officers were not dismissed.
'I also have serious reservations about how this case has been handled by Hampshire Constabulary as it has taken almost two years to come to a conclusion.
'Myself and my legal team also felt it was not appropriate the Chief Constable chaired the hearing following her recent involvement in those more serious misconduct offences. However, this objection was dismissed.'

And who is the Chief Constable? Why, none other than Olivia Pinkney! Yes, her.

I'm not surprised he got the sack for using an abbreviated term. The correct phrase is 'parasitic thieving verminous bastards' bastards because the 4-letter word (5 in the plural) isn't always acceptable in a blog. (Hint: while it begins with a C, and has a single vowel, it isn't 'Chaps')

Witch witch is witch? And for all you know, a witch may be running your police service, right now.

With apologies to Roald Dahl.

Two years seems about right for any sort of disciplinary case where a plod has been suspended on full pay or put on restricted duties. Why should this guy be treated differently?
BUT, if the conversation occurred between private phones WTF business is it of plod when pikey is a word used in everyday life?

On the one hand, he has to be a bit of a blockhead for posting something like that. Officially he is supposed to be impartial and showing such obvious prejudice against any group of people is out of order. On the other hand he should be free to express an opinion.

I know it's infantile but I did laugh at the fact that the word pikey is Pinkney without the ns.

Article about free speech is relevant.

This "plod" was a Special Constable so was not suspended on full pay, he isn't paid anything.
Don't forget to mention his "gold-plated pension" as well for the full house of cliches

I did smile when I heard of that one from the Big Fat Gypsy Wedding was in hospital with the virus, as when the police finally plucked up the courage to raid our local traveller camp they found all the oxygen cylinders they had stolen from our hospital (alongside the fire brigade cutting equipment used to get people out of crashed cars)

It never ceases to amaze me how readily stupid folk undermine themselves online. Typically quick to accuse others of some non existent faux pas as they are inclined to parade witless sarcasm and aggression.

The faux pas in question was made by Nemesis rather than in the OP.

If the guy was in fact a volunteer I don't know why he doesn't just tell them to stuff it. It's no skin off his nose if they don't get his services free of charge is it? Similar to the lifeboatman who got kicked out for having a sexist mug.

I suppose that the point I was trying to make is that it seems normal for a disciplinary/IPCC investigation to take two years when the subject is a salaried officer (Look at Anscombe and Care, Devon & Cornwall). On this basis, salaried or volunteer, the timescale is not out of line. Isn't it normal for salaried officers to be paid whilst they are being investigated?

What I would like to know, though, is did he type “pikey” into a “work” phone (in which case more fool him) or from a personal phone to someone else’s personal phone, in which case it should be damn all to do with the police, even if he is referring to a protected species.

Except as an acroyn: Caravan utilising nomadic travellers.

"BUT, if the conversation occurred between private phones WTF business is it of plod when pikey is a word used in everyday life?"

Good question...

"Article about free speech is relevant."

Indeed! It's under attack everywhere.

"Don't forget to mention his "gold-plated pension" as well..."

Hit a nerve..?

"...when the police finally plucked up the courage to raid our local traveller camp they found all the oxygen cylinders they had stolen from our hospital..."

Let me guess, 'not enough evidence' to prosecute?

"... I don't know why he doesn't just tell them to stuff it."

Principle?
