There Goes Your Core Vote, Diane!

Local authorities should be given stronger powers to ban the spread of fried chicken shops and other fast food outlets, and end the sale of cheap alcohol from corner shops, especially near schools, according to proposals put forward by...
Wizened homunculus Tam Fry? No. No, actually.
...Diane Abbott, the shadow public health minister.

Diane Abbott gives an interview from her beach holiday

Yeah. I know. Me too...
Discussing the need to tackle obesity and alcoholism, she said: "I am looking at planning legislation to make it easier for local authorities to ban not just McDonald's, but those chicken and chip shops that cluster around schools.
"I certainly think as part of Labour's policy review we should make it easier for local authorities to use public health criteria in planning and to stop the proliferation of chicken and chip shops. For too many children, fast food is not a treat but a dietary staple."
I can only imagine that Abbott's never taken a rush-hour train at the times schools have turned out for the day, and clocked the identity of the kids usually found tucking into the fried chicken.

If she had, she might have held her tongue.

Saw that article yesterday, it reads like some clever satire. Almost too funny to fisk.

That's one hell of a shadow...

Poor Diane: she can't do anything right, can she? Is it because she's black? No, I don't think so: it's because she is a politician, therefore, necessarily, a conniving, self-centred, lying, two-faced piece of shit, with neither a moral nor a scruple to be found within that amorphous, dark mass of heaving, subcutaneous blubber, which in others of more-gainly form is referred to as a 'body'.

Objections to closure based on grounds of race then. Good-o.

Oh dear gods...they're going to have to apply "Equality & Diversity" legislation to food. Can you imagine ?

I'd be tempted to encourage that purely for the fun of the utter chaos that would ensue.

In plain English:
""I certainly think as part of Labour's policy review we should make it easier for local authorities to use public health criteria to control you"

Agree with James. Very naughty that you chose such a flattering picture of Diane Abbott.

Diane Abbott - the 'thick' one on the Homerton College team of 'Christmas University Challenge'.

I think they introduced her as having 'read history' at the esteemed 'Fens Polytechnic'. Well, God Almighty, she couldn't answer a couple of easy questions about Tudor history that even I could; and I'm but an engineer who studied in those environs some years before she arrived.

BTW, you are very cruel to Diane by showing a male elephant seal.

When I first read it elsewhere, I thought she said "For me, fast food is not a treat but a dietary staple."

So I obviously read it wrong. Probably no less true though.

As I have mentioned elswhere, I am 173cm tall, weigh 85kg and have a 36" waist. According to the BMI Calculator I am seriously overweight, bordering on obese. If you are going to describe thin people as obese then of course you are going to have an obesity problem. Why isn't this obvious to anyone with a working brain?

Oh, indeed! The woman has zero self-awareness...

SNORK!

"Diane Abbott - the 'thick' one on the Homerton College team of 'Christmas University Challenge'."

God, none of them - politicians or 'others' - acquitted themselves well, did they? Once off their specialist subject, their general knowledge was appalling..

"BTW, you are very cruel to Diane by showing a male elephant seal."

The females just aren't big enough!
