Inspector Jeremy Bartley, of North Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing Group, said: "This was a road traffic collision that led to the tragic loss of two innocent lives, for which Samuel Balaam has admitted responsibility. This incident reinforces the need for drivers to provide their undivided attention and care when driving any vehicle at any time - treat it and those around you with respect.
"I would like to thank the families of the victims, who have had to endure a lengthy investigation in order to receive some solace, with the person responsible ultimately being brought to justice."Really? Care to leaf through this book, chum?
Here, I'll turn the page for you:
North Yorkshire Police said Samuel Balaam had been sentenced by York Magistrates to 20 weeks in custody, suspended for 12 months.I'm pretty sure no-one considers that 'justice' as defined in the OED.

We should never discourage idiots and good showmen from making the most of congenital oratory skills. You can envisage our rotund Inspector Jeremy, gavel in hand, in his role as part-time MC for Ferryhill Working Men's Club and Institute, peeling off his tonsils and building up the tension before the curtain rises on the Kathy Kirby relaunch concert.
Errr, yeah. Possibly.
I never apologise for feeding literary theorists with figurative use of words, JuliaM, if you get my meaning...
