Pity It Wasn't His Neck...

A young thug who threatened to kill a woman in a terrifying robbery tried to escape police by jumping over a garden wall - only to fall 50 feet down a railway embankment and break his wrist in the process.

Gareth Bellis, defending, said Rawlings was still a young man and had not used a weapon or attempted to physically harm the victim during the robbery.
Even the brief was phoning it in for this scum!

At least he got 4 years for it, though I think sentencing him to a bath would be much more of a deterrent.

Considering the definition of robbery is to steal and, at the time, or immediately beforehand, offers or threatens violence, I fail to see how the (probably legal aided) defence brief can say that the offender did not threaten the victim.
In a perfect world, the little shit would be sent down. However, he will probably receive a slap on the wrist and a fiver from the poor box.

Heh!

"...I fail to see how the (probably legal aided) defence brief can say that the offender did not threaten the victim."

They really should be up for the Booker Prize, they are such experts at fiction...
