I always thought that the Euro was a terribly corny and unimaginative name for the new currency. That observation is even more apt when you consider how many people were involved in failing to come up with a better one. When it came to the designs of coins and notes, why not just let each country design their own? Specify the size and other basics that need to be standardised but leave the rest to the individual states.
