No Need To Fear For Them, Eduardo…

The incident happened in Valence Avenue at 4.17pm after the youngster got off a bus and crossed the road.
Neighbour Eduardo Marreno Jumenez spotted the collision and ran over to help the boy.
Hmm, I suspect ‘crossed the road’ means ‘ran out from behind the bus’.

I know this road well. It’s not the first accident here and it won’t be the last.
The 35-year-old, who lives around the corner, said that the incident made him fear for the safety of his own three children.
“It was such a shock to see and so scary that it can happen whenever,” he added.
It very, very rarely happens on proper crossings, so as long as you’ve taught them well, you’ve little to fear.

If you are wondering how many plod it takes to make an intelligent contribution to law and order, the answer is none, Julia. Contemporary plod have neither the intelligence, inclination, nor physical dexterity to do any kind of work, especially the investigatory kind. At best they could try to locate the site of accidents and crimes with random keyboard searches; but even with that odd lucky strike they would be hard pushed to actually do anything about it.

If this actually goes any further I will lay money this will turn out to be one of those cabbies who has an - ahem - cultural animus against dogs. The mysterious lack of a name in the article kind of makes it obvious...
