Notice To Readers

Sorry folks, but comment moderation is on (temporarily) as I seem to have a small vermin problem, the common troll (tinyus dickus).

Normally I just delete them, but this particular specimen is intent on posting an address online in the belief that it's mine. It isn't. It isn't even close, being the wrong side of London, for a start!

Normal service will be resumed when it finally tires of the game...

Don't let the buggers grind you down, Julia.

You too have this? Seems to be catching.

I've got the same bug.

I think you probably have it right, anatomically, so to speak

The civil service had an infestation of tinyus dickus under Labour, but thankfully John "Tiddler" Prescott is no longer in government.

Gosh, very few clues as tension escalates in this cyberspace whodunit. In default of a sweepstake, my guess is 'Jaded in the Nick with the Keyboard'.

All the best, bound to happen really.

I haven't seen these messages but I've heard of it being done on other blogs in the past.

Question is why?

What do these trolls actually think is going to happen. That all us internet types will suddenly bus it over to Jule's place and camp out on her front lawn? If this particular blogger (or any other) turned out to be my next door neighbour I wouldn't care.

Its not my blog but if it were, I'd turn off moderation and then any and all further attempts at posting personal information would be forwarded to Google and the Police... I understand they are rather keen on dealing with stalking and harassment these days.

It's that time of year. This time last year was when the trolls woke.

It's the cold weather. Their already miniscule members shrink to sub-microscopic levels and that makes them think they can grow them back to visible levels by pretending to have some rudimentary intelligence.

Then they post comments that demonstrate they are in possession of neither.

I can recommend Disqus comments. Makes it easier to track them down.

I don't intend to!

On the bright side, the spammers may give up after a dew days too. 745 of the things today!

"In default of a sweepstake, my guess is 'Jaded in the Nick with the Keyboard'."

Unlikely in the extreme.

Who knows what goes through a mind so disturbed?

"I can recommend Disqus comments. Makes it easier to track them down."

I've been considering a move to Wordpress, if I get enough time to do it. I think you can have Disqus as a plugin.

Might give it some thought over Christmas.

Julia I've been happy with wordpress but I've also heard of several anti jihdist blogs being shut down because of complaints by the 'whining classes'.

As me calling Mohammed a **** seems to be quite popular with readers I'm going to keep the Wordpress software but I've not got my own domain where I have a bit more flexibility and freedom. I've also got some anti jihad merchandise coming out and to sell that you need your own domain.

Sorry to hear that. I hope the problem goes away soon.

If the adress is not yours ...and assuming it's a valid address...maybe a quick call to the local constabulary of the inhabitant to inform them ?

Maybe you personally aren't the target of this abuse and the homeowner may have been fending off pizza deliveries and taxi's at 3am for gods knows how long before this tactic was employed. This may be a bit more evidence to add to an ongoing harrassment case and one the inhabitant would know nothing about otherwise.

Just a thought :)

I'm always impressed that nobody has ever stalked me online. I get quite a few silly comments from a particular person but never an attempt to track me down personally.

I have been quite rude to a lot of people, after all....

Hope the spammer goes away soon.

I'm with Leg-iron on this, it's the time of year. My e-mail spam filter is working overtime - 150 so far today when that number is normal for the other 11 months of the year together. There is even one idiot spamming my NAS box, how daft can you get?

Not Guilty.

I think that's something that the providers are going to have to toughen up about.

Cheers, Mark! ;)

Already done!

" I get quite a few silly comments from a particular person but never an attempt to track me down personally."

This can't be a regular, because if it was, it'd know it's the wrong area.

"My e-mail spam filter is working overtime - 150 so far today ..."

One of the pleasant side effects is that moderation seems to have slowed the flood of spam! :)

"Not Guilty."

Didn't think so. You're a regular, so you'd know that couldn't possibly be my address.
