I just spotted this too:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2257907/BBC-bans-staff-eating-bananas.html

(The headline says "BBC bans bananas...")

The sub-text says:

"The BBC has banned workers at its new London headquarters after a colleague told bosses she could die if coming into contact with the fruit."

CR.

Yes, I'm no David Attenborough, but even I know that Hyenas are neither canine nor feline. These sorts of howlers, where checking facts is so simple nowadays - just do a quick Google for goodness sake - makes my trust in what else they print diminish further.

Concerning the captain's post above, surely the BBC should be able defend against killer bananas. Monty Python demonstrated the technique years ago - see here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=piWCBOsJr-w

I should be asleep because I have to work early but sleep only comes when I don't want it...

I can't resist. Afraid of a banana? (Thick Welsh accent) But what if she's attacked with a point-ed stick? (/thick Welsh accent).

Oh. Right.

"These sorts of howlers, where checking facts is so simple nowadays - just do a quick Google for goodness sake - makes my trust in what else they print diminish further."

Well, quite. It's not like it isn't easy to check, as you point out. So what does their refusal to do so tell us?

"Afraid of a banana? (Thick Welsh accent) But what if she's attacked with a point-ed stick? (/thick Welsh accent)."

LOL!
