A homeless family of six say they face a choice between freezing to death and squatting if the council fails to rehouse them by Christmas. Not just any family, oh, no:
Traveller Lorraine Botton, 54, has been living in a tent in Quarry Road, Maidstone, for six weeks with her five children...Awwww! Poor little mites! We must think of the ch...
Oh!
... - Moses, 18, Caleb, 19, Genty, 22, Louise, 26, and 36-year-old Naomi.They are all adults! And...none of them work?
But Maidstone Borough Council says it could take months before they are found accommodation - and the family are refusing to take temporary accommodation if it means they are parted from their pets./facepalm
She is worried her family will catch pneumonia, which has already claimed the lives of two of her children - but refuses to take temporary accommodation if it means being parted from her four dogs and three budgies.Let me get this straight - she values her pets over her 'children's' safety?
Miss Botton, who is unable to work due to her health problems and has struggled to look after her children since her husband died 14 years ago, claims she was hounded out of her last home because she was a traveller.
She added: "We had nobody to turn to so we came to Maidstone, where our family are, but we need proper accommodation."I think this'll make a regular appearance:

And all those rotters making comments in the Fail using the most hateful word they can to a traveller - work. They are even saying that this family should actually engage in it, oh shock horror.

Not the only choice they face though, is it? They could choose to dig themselves out of their own squalor ... but as Ivan rightly says - the "W" word is not one they "choose" to embrace.
I'd love to see the Graun pick up this one for their "Dear Dierdre" column :0)
Dear Deirdre, Oi'm a feckless lazy breeding machine so I am, Oi'm livin' in a tent wit me six darlin' children and nobody wants us so they don't .. nat since me man doyed and we can't work. All we want is a nice house from de gubment but dey don't want me Budgies an me Dags and I can't live widdout dem so I can't
Come on Graun! pick up the ball :0)
Gender doubts persist; regardless of salient female cleavage, Julia.
A slightly optimistic reading suggests the crudometer requires a calibration check.
When it comes to the Holocaust, most people's sympathies are with the Jews instead.
Is a tent not proper accommodation for a traveller? You can't travel very far in a five bedroom semi.
Miss Botton - who has bipolar disorder, epilepsy and arthritis... is unable to work due to her health problems.
If you're able to survive in someone's back yard and cook in the rain you're clearly more able than you maintain. Seriously, get the community you proudly profess to belong to bail you out.
Frankly, I'd like someone to total up what this family (and others like them) have cost the rest of us to date and then ask them how they intend to pay some of it back.
A bunch of feckless, lazy pikeys! All adults, all fucking useless spongers by the look of them. As JP asks where are the traveller community we read so much about? If the originated in Sussex why is Maidstone dealing with them. They'll probably get a house in due course, where they want it next to some other semi house trained fraudsters; then move a van onto a piece of green belt/rural land and claim multiple brickophobia and demand to be allowed to settle without planning permission so they can keep their neglected horses. Let's see Dave and the gang get these useless shits to work for their dole, housing benefit and every other thing they want.
Haven't they thought about a modelling career?
Jaded
Once again I feel it necessary to ask my fellow readers to look in detail at the photograph's, and in particular the last one.
These people do not work, right ? Well, how is that they can afford a flatscreen TV, all the sundry equipment, gas stove and bottle and, maintain 'four, yes 'four' dogs ? I'll let them go on the budgies - because I am soft.
These people think the authorities are stupid and can be shamed into giving them something. They are right.
But if the people who taxes are used to subsidize such people had a say over where their monies are spent, I think these 'types' would quickly move on and go a find another bunch of suckers to live off.
But if the people who taxes are used to subsidize such people had a say over where their monies are spent...
We do have a say.
Don't vote Labour would be a good start. Despite all their weeping and wailing over the low paid; they're joyously content to take taxes from someone working minimum wage at McDonalds and hand it over to people like Lorraine Botton and the Mick Philpotts.
"...using the most hateful word they can to a traveller - work."
Spot on! :/
"I'd love to see the Graun pick up this one for their "Dear Dierdre" column :0)"
Heh! Me too!
"Is a tent not proper accommodation for a traveller? You can't travel very far in a five bedroom semi."
Well, quite. And I'd like to know how her neighbours 'drove her out'. Might come in useful!
"If you're able to survive in someone's back yard and cook in the rain you're clearly more able than you maintain. "
And there's another thing I'd like to know - what ages were the children who supposedly died of pneumonia?
"Let's see Dave and the gang get these useless shits to work for their dole, housing benefit and every other thing they want."
Dave can issue all the proclamations he wants - it's down to the local councils to carry them out...
"We do have a say.

Spot on!
I am still at a loss as to why we have to consider these scrounging shitwads as an 'ethnic' group. As far as I am aware, they are people who have moved from Ireland and CHOSEN to live a transitory lifestyle. My grandparents moved from Ireland in the early 50's so that my Grandpa could take up a job on the railways (which he did until he dropped dead whilst at work) and every single one of their children and grandchildren have worked and paid taxes throughout their lives. Why the hell should these people, who, as far as I can tell are as Irish as my descendents but who have poisoned their own gene pool by fucking their cousins for a few generations be given any special treatemnt at all? They haven't done anythinf different to any other Irish immigrants, except they have made choices when they arrived here to live like tramps and whine to the Daily Mail(?) when their 'human rights' are violated by perfectly reasonable regulations which every other fucker on this island has to adhere to. Surely there has to be a better way. If they want to live outside surely there could be a large-ish plot of land where they could all park their caravans, away from the rest of society which they so seem to despise. As they would be quite concentrated in this camp, there might need to be a certain amount of barbed wire and armed guards to ensure their safety, and they could leave any time they wanted, as long as they hopped straight on to the next ferry back to their home country...

Aye. That's what TRAVELLERS do!
If they have a house, they are NOT fucking "travellers" are they!?
