Once upon a time, I lived upon a narrowboat.
One did worry occasionally about turning up and finding it broken into and ransacked, (although this never happened to mine). One did not worry even slightly about the boat being stolen - with a top speed of around 4 miles an hour, and only one viable direction to go (whichever way it was currently pointed at the time of theft), re-locating a stolen boat would only be a couple of hours down the towpath on a pushbike at absolute worst!
