A Guide dog fundraising summer fete has been cancelled after travellers parked up on the field where it was meant to be held.
Caravans arrived at the site more than a week ago and still remain despite mounting pressure to leave from locals.
Jesus wept! Every year its the same. Decent, law-abiding taxpayers are shafted while the state wrings its hands over a 'persecuted minority'...
Their presence has forced officials from the charity Guide Dogs to cancel their annual fundraising event.
The travellers are occupying fields that form part of the organisation’s Atherton Training Centre near Bolton, Greater Manchester.
And when they do leave, the problems still aren't over.
Though the travellers left the private land yesterday, a spokeswoman for the charity said it is too late to reorganize the fair in time for Sunday as volunteers clean up the site.
Why do flytipping laws never, ever apply to these 'people'..?

Make trespass a criminal offence, as it is in the country these vermin originate from. Park up on travellers's land in Southern Ireland and the Garda will be round before you can say, "Tarmac your drive, sir?"
Make fly tipping a criminal offence rather than one monitored, or not, by council wardens.
I once asked Police colleagues, including 'Gypsy Liaison Officers', to raise their hands if they had ever witnessed land encroached on by travellers, being left in as good as, or even better, condition than when they moved on to it. No one raised their hands, though I was accused of blighting the reputation of a protected species. Some lesser spotted newts are protected species, though there may well be a genetic link.

Maybe it is time that some people in this country invested in some Israel army armoured bulldozers and low loaders to be rented out to the owners of land invaded by the 'travellers'. A few crushed cars, trucks and caravans might make the invaders think twice about invading private property.

I wasn't aware that any laws applied to these "people" - other than the ones which prevent those of us whose lives are blighted from reacting appropriately.

The useless Tories haven't managed to make squatting in a commercial property a criminal offence yet! This is clearly beyond their capabilities.
