10/10 For Enthusiasm, 0/10 For Victim Blaming!

Police in Nottinghamshire have said they will be discussing compensation for a car window smashed after officers tried to "save" a toy, stuffed dog.
Oh, boy, were their faces red...
The toy's owner, Gordon Williams, 80, said police had done the right thing.

"I know Little Willy is
quite realistic and if they weren't sure about it, they did a good thing as we don't want any more dogs dying in the heat of a car," said Mr Williams.
No, we certainly don't. The police should know that better than anyone.

And there we'd leave it, if not for the pompous seat-polishing cretin employed to churn out press releases for Nottinghamshire Police:
In a statement Nottinghamshire Police said: "This is a perfect example of why drivers need to think about what they leave on view in their car, both in terms of other people's perception of the objects and in a bid to deter opportunist thieves."
Errr, no, drivers don't need to 'think about what they leave in their cars' just to spare your officers' blushes (get 'em down to Specsavers, quick!), and when it comes to leaving things in cars to tempt thieves, well, how's that kettle, pot? Is it still black?

My last intereaction with the Filth was a couple of years ago. A car trundled to a near halt, a hoodie tumbled out and ran off, then the car gently drifted into another, parked car, whose owner was standing next to it. I'd just walked over to him when a police car screeched up.

"He went that way!" we both said excitedly, and off went the Plod.

A couple of minutes later they came back again and asked,

"What did he look like?"

A little taken aback, we said he was a young man with a blue top on and a limp from his fall out of the (presumably stolen) car.

"Ah," said Plod, "we asked him if he'd seen anyone running past him".

I don't think they're very bright generally.

'...we asked him if he'd seen anyone running past him....I don't think they're very bright generally.'

Many of them indulge in a delusional self-image, Ian B. You would be surprised at the number declaring themselves 'well heducatid and middel clars'.

The 'pompous seat-polishing cretin' seems to think it is the minority, the criminals, who should determine the policies for UK society; promotion is sure to come, as there are a lot of senior police officers, judges and politicians who agree with him.

I was curious to see just how realistic the toy dog was so I followed the link. Yes it is very realistic but it does not appear to be in any way distressed.

Great story Ian B,if only it was true. Then that encourages one trick ponies like Melvin to comment on your post.
Melvin-I have asked you before and you didn't answer. What are your ideas to improve us as we are so bad? All you do is snipe like the armchair General you are. Please use words that ordinary people like me can understand.

Anonymous, sadly the story is entirely true.

Got to feel sorry for the Boys in Blue.
Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

I had a similar "Ooops" moment with a chap wanting me to give money to the RSPCA. "You dog in the window is very well trained" he say.
"It's a stuffed toy" I reply... (and so are your chances of getting dosh out of me my son)
TTFN :)

""Ah," said Plod, "we asked him if he'd seen anyone running past him"."

/doublefacepalm

".. promotion is sure to come, as there are a lot of senior police officers, judges and politicians who agree with him."

*sigh* I suspect you're right.

"Yes it is very realistic but it does not appear to be in any way distressed."

Well, you'd think the total lack of movement was a bit of a giveaway, surely?

"Got to feel sorry for the Boys in Blue.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't."

If they'd stopped to think for a few seconds, no need to be damned at all. And this would have been a non-story.

" "You dog in the window is very well trained" he say."

SNORK!
