Ah, That New Definition Of ‘Vulnerable’ Again…

Brighton and Hove City Council has launched a consultation to introduce public space protection orders for 12 parks, cemeteries and areas of Brighton and Hove.
The new powers will allow council and police officers to order the removal of vans and tents from public spaces within 12 hours on threat of fixed penalty notices or court summons.
Excellent news! Who could disagree? Ah. Of course.
Traveller groups have described the new powers as “inhumane” while human rights campaigners Liberty warned the orders have been used to criminalise the most vulnerable.
No, I think ‘the most vulnerable’ are the people who have to put up with the illegal encroachment of those determined to cause everyone’s life a misery.

Pikes? Most vulnerable? That's who they prey on.

May I request a few changes?
1) Make it within 2 hours of arrival.
2) £5000 to start and £10000 for each subsequent hour of not leaving up to a maximum of 5 hours, after that whatever they have on the site goes to the crusher.

It is about time that councils stood up to these anti social slobs that are costing the public millions.

I'll believe it when I see the first traveler kicked out in 24 hours.

In reality though it'll only be used on the general public as usual.

Most of Croydon is not so bad. West Croydon is where the majority of grief happens.

Following Lord T's comments, I'll believe it when the first traveller gives his real name, a contactable address, and pays the fine.

Just one point where I disagree, pikies aren't determined to make people's life a misery they are just negligent about the misery they bring. They do not care, which makes them utter vermin.

The Garda do it better. At least they did in Knock back in 2010. The Pikies took over the town blocking car parks, private drives and roads. The cops issued an ultimatum and any caravan that was still causing an obstruction within an hour would get towed away and torched.

They moved.

Quite!

"It is about time that councils stood up to these anti social slobs that are costing the public millions."

Often, council ARE the anti social slobs that are costing the public millions...

"...note the article in the paper has comments closed, I wonder why !"

Becoming sadly familiar.

"The cops issued an ultimatum and any caravan that was still causing an obstruction within an hour would get towed away and torched."

Hence why they are all over here, where plod is terrified of #identitypolitics...
